Genndy Tartakovsky's 20-year project is finally here. The first episode is already released: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=-ppBIVvWNIo Oddly enough, this is aired on Adult Swim despite being a Cartoon Network TV-PG production. The steampunk setting and the Tezuka/Fleischer designs looks neat, even if the main cast and premise reminds me of Sym-Bionic Titan. Later episodes will come every Friday.
Getting real sick of Winston. Like I get it, he can't accept his fiancee is gone but c'mon.
>>34318 Why is this part of adult_swim? https://yewtu.be/watch?v=91wX0NRjJqg It could air around the preschooler's block and nobody would file a complaint.
>>34348 It really is jarring, I guess CNs audience is just that small nowadays.
>>34350 >I guess CNs audience is just that small nowadays. Well maybe that's because because all of the stoner audience graduated to meth/fenetyal and are now out on the streets in Philadelphia /Minneapolis/San Fran/NYC and they can't remember what a tv is or have access to one anymore. And that Stephen Universe audience was already proven to be fake in their numbers too.
>>34348 >>34350 Joe Pera is a faggot IRL but I watched the entire 3 seasons of his show and I loved it every second of it. Better than any shit hollyshod puts out. >tfw you will never have an schizo prepper gf and live in her bunker
Watched all the way up to episode eight. With the story's direction, I wonder if this series is just setup as a one-off. >>34319 I find Winston charming. It's a nice change of pace seeing a male character doing everything possible to be with the one he loves.
>>34840 Men doing anything for the women they love is a tale as old as time. Problem is Melinda is not his woman!
>>34844 >Problem is Melinda is not his woman! Melinda isn't, but Emma is. >>34845 >How is that a change of pace? Because, as is the trend with many of these stories, the original lover becomes irrelevant, and eventually a cuck, as his girl is whisked away by the "uber-chad" who he secedes to without a fight.
>>34606 What makes him a faggot IRL?
>>34886 Donated and heavily supported BLM during the riots.
>>34450 >Stephen Universe audience was already proven to be fake in their numbers too. Post the source, I need to win an argument!!
I only grab anime and old vidya online. Where the fuck do the young kids go to download their dolphin porn these days? I ain't paying for Adult Swim. Not after they shafted Metalocalypse.
>>34895 The young kids go on weird shitty streaming sites and don't actually download anything. Us old guys are on private trackers because the public ones went to shit or shut down.
>>34897 I'll just roll my dice with the same shady site I got Primal from, now that I finally remembered what it was.
>>34899 Nevermind, that site is gone now. I'll just use one of these shadier mirror sites. Here's hoping I don't get PC pozzed.
>>34893 What a fucking faggot, holy shit.
>>34606 Shame to hear that the guy is such a fag. Can't deny that the episode you posted is damn good, though. Smiled the entire way through, especially since it was extremely relatable. >>34895 I get to watch the show on Max for free as part of my AT&T phone plan.
>>34927 >>34938 The show is still very worthwhile if you can pirate it somewhere. Joe was smart enough to not put any political stuff into it.
So, the Emmalinda issues is mow resolved.
>>34944 >No politics <But also there's a token negro child hero, and also 1900s Britain is a melting pot
>>34947 This is a fictional history where steampunk technology is common place. There's only one negro child, who's an orphan, & one indian guy who was scamming people with claiming to know mystic arts.
>>34947 Are you stupid or just illiterate?
The show is getting good now
>>34953 >There's only one negro child, who's an orphan, & one indian guy who was scamming people with claiming to know mystic arts. Are you even paying attention? I repeat. Britain is a melting pot. >Muh fictional history Yes, how convenient that this alt history just happens to align with modern politically correct depictions of the UK's racial makeup. This is only a cursory glance at half of episode 2. At least the two interracial couples and one potential interracial couple are all white male/black female, so >we know Genndy is BLEACHEDpilled. :^)
>>34988 Oh and to further the bleaching angle, the majority of chocolate characters seen seem to be female as well.
>>34988 It's a fictional story, retard.
>>34988 Oh no. Background characters in a fictional history version of England.
>>34998 And you're still looking at anything to complain about. The show has actual problems but you're worried the steampunk England with robots has brown people in the background instead.
>>34955 Holy fuck you absolute mongoloids, the conversation wasn't even about the cartoon. Read the fucking posts next time.
Well the first season is now over & I'm left conflicted on my feelings with this show. It's pacing hasn't been great. A lot of questions are left unanswered. The animation while at times got very fun, with it's rubber hose Popeye aesthetic, is still full of errors. Like blatant back to back ones that should be obvious. Genndy's animations are never perfectly flawless but something like Primal worked while this show is lacking in consistency & care. I want to like the story but it took too much time. I like the characters at least. Learning about their pasts is interesting. We don't learn anything about Seng though so he's in that pool of unanswered questions. We don't even know why these people were chosen or why the incarnation is imperfect compared to before. Another season would be nice but I don't know if I'm confident in it.
>>35080 The last episode was definitely rushed. You can see some blatant animation errors, and a time stamp pops up 3 minutes and 45 seconds from the end of the episode. Outside of that, I feel like I'm conflicted on ridiculing the show much because it does feel like a big breath of fresh air to actually have a decent Western cartoon that isn't a straight comedy, nor isn't trying to copy anime (I'll let the Tezuka influence slide because his art was inspired heavily by Walt).
>>35080 Could be another instance of Adult Swim knee capping the show by limiting the number of episodes. Just like with Samurai Jack but we wont know until some asks him.
I finally watched the first episode of this, and Gennedy doesn't disappoint as an auteur that predates our modern fetisization of degeneracy. I need to watch the rest of this show.
>Finish U:WE >Genndy said he wouldn't do anymore Primal >Unicorn is actually a prequel explaining the strange state of the Primal world with it's differing eras being neighbors. Cool.
>>35080 >We don't even know why these people were chosen or why the incarnation is imperfect compared to before. I thought that was pretty obvious from the first episode? The evil previously just repeatedly incarnated as a big monster all at once. This time is let out little bits at a time to take tactical action, such as attempting to destroy Copernicus while he slept. This failed, but this resulted in Copernicus waking up early, which resulted in the planned incarnation either not being ready ,or not existing, or not being readily accessible. Copernicus needed something to fight the smaller evil immediately though and had no choice but to pick the closest near compatible souls. Emma was just the least compatible. None of this is explicitly stated, but it seemed pretty clearly implied to me.
>>35384 I can accept that at least.
