Offical /co/ Homecoming Thread

Welcome Aboard If you're reading this now you've just survived the latest exodus in 8chan's ridiculous history. I'll be your Board Owner, if you haven't been following along I recently took over /co/ since the great Cripplegeddon. When 8ch came back as 8kun the previous guys were nowhere to be found so I took it upon myself to answer the call and moderate. Before moving here, I spent the time cleaning up /co/ and taking suggestions over how the board was run. If you're somehow someone that didn't know 8chan returned temporarily as a boomer zombie and only just came back; Believe me these people exist and I don't blame them then you haven't missed much other than the BO change. For more in depth details I recommend reading the archived meta threads below or any of the archived threads in the provided pastebin. But I'd be more than happy to answer whatever questions you have. >So what's the gameplan? Currently I plan on moving over some storytimes from 8kun to here, to help fill up the board and to avoid losing any of them if the pig farmer decides to pull the plug. Beyond that I'm still thinking of ways of how to grow /co/. If you have any suggestions don't be afraid to say them. >Why here and not one of the webring boards? Name recognition and user overlap. Lets be honest the comics industry is dead and western animation isn't any better, so a lot of interest has been lost. Boards like /v/, /delicious/, /tg/ and /m/ are the only Anons with any remote interest in anything /co/ related and most of the bunkers they're staying at are either dead, have little user overlap, are unwilling to host /co/ or just filled to the brim with autism. Fatchan looked nice but the software was too new/buggy, too few people and I rather gamble my chance on 8chan's name bringing people back than some bunker that has no real pull. >What of 8kun? I'll still "maintain" it just to make sure people find their way here. But once the administration finds out I'm sure to lose the board. All the same rules apply here as it did before, I still haven't found a way to link the rules page so everything will be in the pastebin. I'm still only one guy so don't expect lighting fast responses (vols will be added eventually). I recently made a twitter account Probably the worst decision I've ever made just so people know what's happening if 8chan were to be taken out again. You can contact me from there but be warned I'm not very active and prefer if people contacted me through my protonmail. But besides all that's been said, this thread will be for any open discussion. I also want to thank those of you that made the jump and for sticking around, it means a lot. Be aware that 8chan.moe is still in beta and will be going up and down for bug fixes, so don't be alarmed. /co/ Pain Thread 10: Woke War 3

World's on fire with war tensions running rampant. So it's important to talk about the things that really matter. Cartoons, comics, & movies. You've all seen it. Somehow Rebecca Sugar has returned. Steven Universe is making ANOTHER return with a new spinoff about Lars in his Captain Harlock ripoff homage outfit & his crew of misfit, even for them, gems. Predictions? Strong likelihood of more half assed surface level copyright infringements references to dubbed anime Sugar grew up with. As well as plenty of modern day politics free from the restrains of TV standards & practices. God help us all. To lightened up the mood, we got a surprisingly decent to dare I say good Predator animated movie anthology. It's biggest downside is the low framerate animation. A "style" popularized by the Spider-verse movies. If you can stomach that & enjoyed Prey then you may be pleasantly surprised like I was. We have another trailer for the upcoming second attempt at kickstarting a DC live action movie universe starting with Superman. Can James Gunn pull it off with genuine heart or will he pull another Guardians of the Galaxy with misunderstanding the characters for the sake of comedy? Or worse yet, continue to blunder his chance by having too many of Snyder's leftovers tied into this new universe? Speaking of which... Peacemaker season 2. John Mao Cena is back with another season of Peacemaker. This time more confusing & definitely going to muddy the waters on continuity. At least there's no more Margot Robbie Harley Quinn shoved in. What about Creature Commandos? Well fuck that show. while technically it's the real first entry into the Gunnverse, it's not what's going to introduce the average person to it & definitely doesn't have the same appeal even before seeing the men hating & cucking in the show. So let's ignore it for now. We also kinda got nothing to go off of for Supergirl nor the Lanterns show other than the casting. But we did just get an announcement for another show. Mister Miracle.... based on Tom King's comic. Showran by Tom King. Hope you like therapy & bondage.

Unicorn: Warriors Eternal

Genndy Tartakovsky's 20-year project is finally here. The first episode is already released: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=-ppBIVvWNIo Oddly enough, this is aired on Adult Swim despite being a Cartoon Network TV-PG production. The steampunk setting and the Tezuka/Fleischer designs looks neat, even if the main cast and premise reminds me of Sym-Bionic Titan. Later episodes will come every Friday.

Superman

Not just specifically for the new movie but Superman in general if you wanna talk about the character. It was suggested to me to make a thread separate from the Pain Thread to talk about the movie. I'll reiterate my thoughts here but feel free to look in the Pain Thread as well. I surprisingly really like James Gunn's Superman. I say this as someone who mostly hates the changes to characters he did in GotG & definitely don't like his Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, or Creature Commandos stuff. Maybe it's because Superman is so much more restrained compared to Gunn's usual self. It's not constantly throwing jokes at you or mean spirited. And let's get this out of the way again. Both Gunn brothers comments about the movie being about immigrants is in the same vein as Starship Troopers "saying" the humans are the bad guys. It's flat out wrong & just the director's own attempt at pushing his politics. The word immigrant never comes up in the movie. If you just had to reach for a comparison, Superman is still an "immigrant" who completely assimilated into American life. Which really goes against the pro immigration narrative as most don't do this anymore. Nor is it a take down on Israel for their warcrimes in Gaza & Palestine as a whole but would be fine if it was intended that way. But yes if you've seen certain leaks from months back, some are true. The Jor-El & Supergirl leaks are true. The latter we kinda knew beforehand with the fact her casting was announced so a cameo was guaranteed. The Jor-El stuff will remain contentious even if the comics had a similar idea back in the 80s but people are only used to the Donner idea of Jor-El from the movie. As for why I enjoy this new movie so much, it's just a nice entertaining movie that, despite it's costume designs, feels the closest we've gotten for a long time to an unashamedly comic book movie. Not completely irony poisoned that it can't take anything seriously like any MCU movie. It understands Superman as just a good man who wants to protect & help. Not as an angsty loner burdened by power constantly at war with himself over doing the right thing. Some may not like it but the inclusion of the 'Justice Gang' helps expand & establish this world as having superheroes already in it without going right into the big names that will eventually form the Justice League. I also like how Luthor isn't a giggling platitudes spouting freak but an actual cold calculating envious man with a superiority complex. I want to see more of this universe with this same kind of energy even if I am still wary of where James Gunn will go with it through explaining things like Peacemaker. If he can just keep a tone & style closer to this instead of Creature Commandos then there's a chance. We'll all really see once Supergirl comes out next year.

/co/ Vidya Thread

Anyone wanna talk about /co/ related video games? What have you been playing? What upcoming games are you looking forward to? Here are my thoughts on a few new and upcoming games. Avengers looks like ass. I hate how everyone in charge at Marvel completely missed the appeal of Kamala. I'm probably in the minority here who actually like the character, but what made her appealing at the start was how low stakes her stories were. She doesn't work in big events like what this game is going for. It also will have some Destiny like shit tacked on. Ultimate Alliance 3 was enjoyable, but definitely worse than the original. It does show how much better stylized art looks when compared to the upcoming Avengers game. The camera is terrible though especially in co-op. I don't understand Sony's strategy with Spider-Man: Miles Morales. They revealed it like it was a sequel, but from what I understand it is just an expansion that comes with a rerelease of the first game. Next gen so far looks like a disaster. And finally Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. I was really looking forward to this game, but I hear it's a mess. The cut content from the original that they had advertised as being added wasn't, and even with a day one patch it is apparently still a buggy mess.

Donghua & Manhwa

Ne Zha 2, sequel to Ne Zha (2019), has become the number one animated movie of all time from Chinese & worldwide audiences despite having little actual marketing put out there. It's a great movie that shows what CG animation can do along with how something marketed to kids can still be mature enough to not talk down to them nor shy away from blood or death. I recommend torrenting the first movie if you haven't then seeing the second while you still can if you have a theater showing it. Now the first was licensed by Well Go USA with english subs but this one seems to have been subbed by the studio itself. So it's less than perfect translation. If that bugs you then wait for a blu-ray with hopefully a good scrubbing. Also feel free to discuss other Chinese or Korean animated movies & shows.

Homestuck General #3: Aranea is for cosplaying as her Edition

HOMESTUCK THREAD! This is 8chan dot moe, we can have them here, unlike BOTchan's /co/, that keeps nuking them, in the longest and most ridiculous secret rule of the site still implemented to this day, legends say it is some Gay Janitor's decade old vendetta. Make sure to read the board rules. Discuss how good homestuck was at its peak, how soulfull Act 5 was back in the day, the absolute embarrassed disaster that is post-canon, how Toby Fox is a total faggot who steals music and how like his music his characters are mostly bad remixes of Homestuck's characters (success =/= deserved), ships, fanfics, etc. You can also discuss other MSpaint comics like Problem Sleuth, and other HS-Related content. The "/hsg/" Original Posts were all around a single sentence long, but here we are looking for something else, real and long discussions with arguments plus the shitpost (but not limited to just one or the other) and all the fun 2011-2012 internet shit, hopefully this enough of an effortpost. Feel free to suggest what should be included in the next one. We've started a homestuck read-along here: >>53588 >What about megidochan? Their /hsg/ aren't really about homestuck at all. its just a glorified /b/ that occassionally posts homestuck reaction images. If you want to make those kinds of posts, then by all means go there, several of the recent Halfchan/co/'s threads were actually on-topic especially when it comes correctly criticize Hussie and Homestuck 2, with a fair amount of effort posts in them as well. If nothing else, it can be comfy in an odd way to talk about how badly homestuck went off the rails with peers. HOWEVER, TO BE FAIR. Megidochan did get a strictly "on topic" board (/hot/) upon user request, to actually talk about Hussie and Homestuck because Megido's own users got fed up with how derivative the site had become. Not that it's too relevant since that board is INCREDIBLY SLOW, don't use it lol, even Megidomin came here to say that appreciates the anti-shill vibes from 8chan's /co/. Still, I mention it to tell things as they are (Just a footnote, in case something happens to 8chan we can organize there to discuss what to do). Also this serves as a place for homestuck-related posts that don't deserve their own thread, which would be 90% of them. >How do I read homestuck? Not through the official website since its broken. Whatever Happened to... This /co/ Thread?

I will be making dedicated threads for the anniversaries of “The Forgotten 4 Cartoon Cartoons” and I’m beginning with my personal favorite (that 4/co/ hated for some reason). Data Log Entry: Today marks 25 years since the pilot of Whatever Happened to... Robot Jones? first aired. The basic plot >It was about Robot Jones (duh) who gets sent to a human middle school by his roboparents, ends up getting abused by almost everyone. He befriends this dork and a gamer duo and falls in love with this cunt with braces and a prosthetic leg because he thinks she’s a cyborg. He has to deal with enemies like these jackass DEVO hat twins who live in the vents and want his brain for unknown reasons, his technophobic principal who’s literally Hitler and his teacher who’s a literal jerk to Robot because he’s smarter than him, making him mad at Robot. The series would have ended with him growing up and killing off humanity but that (unfortunately) never happened. The series had a really cool 80s aesthetic and Schoolhouse Rock-esque visuals. It was also notable for being the last cel animated American TV series for its entire run. The first season had a TTS voice but then in season 2, it was infamously replaced with some random kid. Final Analysis: a very underrated show, we will see what 8/co/ thinks of it >(TTS Dub) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqsbrEzyxiLEzxz9rP16NmueuyUjoN1Y0 >(Bobby Block Dub) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4zPNaTu0opSwqN7hAIddCb2hpl7e7jMk

Who wants to read an autists webcomic? A John Stewart fanboy got so butthurt at DC that he made his own Green Lantern knock-off. How bad could it be? Danish Toon ‘Apple Hills’ Goes Global with Cartoon Network on YouTube https://archive.fo/o4O6t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33jsfqZT7GE >Apple Hills, the Danish animated hit series produced by Nice Ninja and coproduced with public broadcaster DR, will be launching January 12 on the worldwide Cartoon Network YouTube channel. “Apple Hills is strongly influenced by all the slapstick comedy series that we have grown up with on Cartoon Network. So, we are more than proud that Apple Hills will launch on the Cartoon Network YouTube channel,” said Thomas Borch-Nielsen, producer at Nice Ninja. “I hope that kids around the world will enjoy Trafalgar and Pulver’s crazy adventures as much as we have while animating them.” >The deal with Warner Bros. Discovery was signed by Meta Media Entertainment, the worldwide exclusive distributor of Apple Hills and follows the successful launch of Season 1 (20 x 5’) of the series in Denmark last year. >Apple Hills was launched on DR in September 2023 and became the third-ranking kids show in Denmark within six weeks. Within the first month of launching on DR’s Kid VOD platform Ramasjang, the series was watched 6.5 million times, which is equivalent to every Danish kid in the target group 5-10 years watching each episode more than once. Season 2 of Apple Hills (20 x 6’) is in production and will be delivered in Q1 2025. >Apple Hills is a small town. In fact, it’s so small and insignificant, it has been removed from Google Maps. The only thing that stands out is a polluting concrete factory. But if you look closely, you will discover two small kids Trafalgar and Pulver. They are experts at surviving boredom since their solutions to everyday relatable problems often take a wild and unpredictable turn for the worse!

New Season of Totally Spies

https://archive.ph/gaF0o Show was fun (despite having basicly no pantsu for all the fetish material it had), but I have no hope for this. I'm fine with shows getting a finale later to finish off all the orphened plotlines (Hey Arnold), but Totally Spies had virtually no running plot except maybe their relationship with Mandy (which underwent minor changes at various points) and lasted 6 seasons (so hardly cut short).

Lizzie - forgotten weird Dreamworks cartoon

I have a weird soft spot for Lizzie. It was a cartoon made for a online service nobody used (go90). There were two seasons for a total of 13 episodes, and each was about 4 minutes long. None of the episodes were notable, nor were they particularly good. The last episode was released 8 years ago, and so there's very little discussion of the show currently. There was very little discussion back then as well. (The only reason that it got any at all, was due to the nudity in one of the episodes.) I thought we could come together and remember this mediocre show. Or if you haven't seen it, you can watch the episodes which have been uploaded to youtube in the years since: https://youtu.be/-IIJu21pXNM https://youtu.be/8PRfSimT0bE Also, I have been searching for fan art of this show for a while, but thanks to its generic name, it's hard to find any. If anyone can find any, or has any saved, please post them. What do you think? Did Lizzie deserve more? Or was it really just a mediocre cartoon made to promote a failing service?

The Barbarian and the Troll

This show is pretty damn good. Better than any other animated show on the US airwaves today. It gets away with more 'adult' humor, and by adult I mean something more along the lines of early Spongebob/Simpsons jokes. It's surprising that Nick picked it up out of all networks, but then I remembered Cartoon Network is trying to appeal to an infant audience since 6-12 year olds don't watch TV anymore. The second episode airs tomorrow but I know this site is too slow to have a live reaction thread. Shows for girls?

I decided to watch As Told by Ginger since I never watched it as a kid, and I was surprised about how good it actually was. I usually didn't like the Klasky Csupo stuff, I thought Rocket Power to be boring as fuck, even as a kid and Tween Rugrats just good for fap material. But ATbG is genuinely good, like this is The Boondocks for white tween girls, nevertheless I always avoided it since I wouldn't be caught dead watching a show for girls. So I started watching more shows for girls, Pepper Ann, and Braceface (Not as good as ATbG imo), same in manga but that's for /a/, again, it can be recency bias, as well as I'm starting with high regarded stuff, but some of this shit is really good. So I asked some women my age about these shows... and no one watched them, they watched those shitty Dan Schneider series for girls or didn't watch shows at all, rather actually starting their social life. Why are people making kino for girls if girls seem to avoid kino altogether. Are there any good shows/episodes originally ignored for being/being marketed for girls? Also, if someone has the lore on Ginger cause second picrel.

/hsg/ - Homestuck General: Christian the Disciple Edition

HOMESTUCK THREAD! This is 8chan dot moe, we can have them here, unlike 4chan's /co/, that keeps nuking them, in the longest and most ridiculous secret rule of the site still implemented to this day, legends say it is some Gay Janitor's decade old vendetta. Make sure to read the board rules. Discuss how good homestuck was at its peak, how soulfull Act 5 was back in the day, the absolute embarrassed disaster that is post-canon, how Hussie got groomed by ipgd, how Toby Fox is a total faggot who steals music and how like his music his characters are mostly bad remixes of Homestuck's characters (success =/= deserved), ships, fanfics, etc. The /hsg/ Original Posts were all around a single sentence long, but here we are looking for something else, real and long discussions with arguments plus the shitpost (but not limited to just one or the other) and all the fun 2011-2012 internet shit, hopefully this enough of an effortpost. Feel free to suggest what should be included in the next one. >What about megidochan? Their /hsg/ aren't really about homestuck at all. its just a glorified /b/ that occassionally posts homestuck reaction images. If you want to make those kinds of posts, then by all means go there, but I think recent /hsg/ threads that were on 4/co/ were actually on-topic if only to correctly critcize Hussie and homestuck 2, and there where a fair amount of effort posts in them as well. If nothing else, it can be comfy in an odd way to talk about how badly homestuck went off the rails with peers. <but homosuck is too dead to have a regular general. Hebe girls in western animation

Are there any difficulty in making a hebe character design to be put in a show in western animation? Would you find any resistance from the top? Because it seems somewhat inconsistent even within shows. For example Pacifica Northwest was given a noticeable chest and waist in Season 1 of Gravity Falls and that was clearly with the purpose of making her more "mature" looking than Mabel, but it doesn't matter because those elements were stripped on Season 2. Ok, at 14 might not count as hebe but still, every girl in Star vs is essentially noodle design, even Star which canonically went trough Mewberty. But not Jackie, of course to represent her as the ideal girl in Marco's eyes but it's kind of odd how much emphasis she has on it. My guess is that Slice of Life "realistic" shows like As Told by Ginger and All Grown Up get a special permit and so do shows that aim for realistic designs like Legend of Korra or Thundercats (2011). But no one in CN board questioned Gwen going from flat to B-Cup in a span of canonically 9 months for omniverse? Or was Wyatt that fucking good?

Spidey and his Amazing Friends,’ ‘Dragon Striker’ ‘Sam Witch’ and more Headline Disney Branded TV’s Annecy Slate https://archive.fo/c2Cle >Leading the pack of greenlit titles is “Sam Witch,” a new animated series from creator Mia Resella and Brown Bag Films. Aimed at preschoolers, the series follows a young girl learning the ropes of witchcraft with the help of her magical pets and a supportive community. With its inclusive themes and whimsical tone, “Sam Witch” aims to cast a spell over families when it launches on Disney Jr. and Disney+. >Another standout among the fresh offerings is “Dasher,” a CG-animated holiday special based on Matt Tavares’ bestselling picture book, “Dasher: How a Brave Little Doe Changed Christmas Forever.” Produced by Trustbridge Entertainment and 9 Story Media Group and Brown Bag Films in association with Disney Branded Television, the special follows the origin story of one of Santa’s most iconic reindeer and is expected to debut in the 2026 holiday season. >On the acquisition front, Disney Branded Television is bringing “Miraculous Stellar Force” into the fold, the first original spin-off from Miraculous Corp’s global hit Miraculous franchise. The 2D hand-drawn anime-style series transports fans to a Tokyo-set international school, where 12 students must protect the remnants of a shattered cosmic weapon, the Stellar Matrix. With an all-new cast and an ambitious, serialized plot, the series will debut in 2027 following a high-octane special premiering later this year. Created by Thomas Astruc, the series is produced by Miraculous Corp, a joint venture between Mediawan and Zag. >Disney is doubling down on some of its most-watched franchises. “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends,” currently the number 2 streaming series for kids and boys 2-5 in the U.S., has not only been renewed for season five but also for a sixth. The hit preschool superhero series continues to feature Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales in action-packed, teamwork-driven adventures. >Other major renewals include “SuperKitties” (Season 4), “Disney Jr. Ariel – The Little Mermaid” (season two) and “RoboGobo” (Season 2). The latter, a heartfelt series about a team of rescue pets in high-tech suits, features a star-studded voice cast including Cynthia Erivo, Alan Cumming and Susan Kelechi Watson. >“Chibiverse,” the animated mash-up of chibi-styled characters from Disney’s animated canon, returns for a fourth season. Other returning shorts include “Playdate with Winnie the Pooh” and “Me & Mickey,” now evolving into a new series titled “Me & Mickey: In the Clubhouse+,” >Produced by La Chouette Compagnie, “Dragon Striker” blends sports, fantasy and magic in a story centered on Key, a farm boy with a mysterious power, and Ssyelle, a fierce goalkeeper. Together, they form an underdog team at an elite sports-magic academy. With a visual style influenced by European fantasy and shonen anime, the series promises high-stakes action and emotional resonance as its heroes confront an ancient evil. It will also get its own more detailed presentation during a Studio Focus session on Tuesday evening.

General Toku/Kaiju thread

Is the MCU considered a Tokusatsu? Other shows/toons and comics that could be considered Toku? What happened to the Power Rangers BOOM! comic? I was posting the PR comic general a couple years back but since Kyle Higgins got replaced as a writer around the Shattered Grid event which seemed hurried as hell I lost interest and the previews just smelled like shark jumping, also the Go Go series, which started pretty weak but it git gud later only to be dragged into the Shattered Grid mess.

John Redcorn RIP

>Jonathan Joss, an actor on “King of the Hill” who voiced John Redcorn, died in a shooting on Saturday, San Antonio police confirmed to Variety. He was 59. >San Antonio officers were dispatched to a shooting in progress at a home on Sunday night around 7 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found Joss near the road after he was shot multiple times. The officers attempted life-saving measures until medics arrived, but Joss was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter fled in a vehicle but was detained by officers a block away and booked for murder. The investigation is still ongoing. TMZ, which broke the news, reported that Joss was shot by a neighbor after a disagreement >Joss also had a recurring role in “Parks and Recreation” as Chief Ken Hotate and appeared in films and shows like “Tulsa King,” “Ray Donovan,” “True Grit,” “The Magnificent Seven” and more. https://archive.md/dFU4M

/co/ Pain Thread 9: Propaganda, Leaks, & an uncertain future for DC.

It's that time again for a new thread! Let's see what we got. Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur is only now catching people's attention, at the end of the cartoon's life, because of a withdrawn episode dealing with... transphobia. DEFINITELY NOT PULLED FROM AIRING BECAUSE OF TRUMP WINNING. Remember when capeshit cartoons were about superheroes instead of gender identity politics? Is Devil Dinosaur even IN this episode?! This is Jack Kirby's legacy, folks. Recently, Hazbin Hotel had a bunch of leaks with an entire episode, reference sheets, & songs all now out in the open. Said leaker shot himself in the foot trying to make people pay for more though. Which only pissed off the people interested & put a target on his back. Then in a positive note for once, The Penguin finished. It's actually a pretty good show BUT not without the typical flaws of these capeshit shows afraid of actually being comic booky. Oswald is nicknamed 'Oz' & he never dons a top hat, has a weaponized umbrella, nor wears a monocle. Other disappointments are Sofia Falcone & Magpie's looks just being completely different indistinct ladies. Sofia is easily the weakest part of the show. Especially when they try to write girl power moments for her. BUT if you enjoyed The Batman movie & or The Sopranos then you should enjoy The Penguin. But on that positive note, we have two uncertain features of James Gunns DCU. Creature Commandos & James Gunn's Superman. One a typical hyper violent totally NOT Suicide Squad derivative featuring vaguely recognizable comic characters.... & Weasel. Possibly taking a generic jab at MAGA voters with these red hat gun toting men getting torn apart. Totally won't instantly age like organic fruit the minute it drops if it's really a political commentary. Then of course Superman... well who knows what to really expect from Superman. It seems like it's going to be more heartfelt BUT also very bloated in a rush to build a universe. With bizarre decisions regarding characters working for Max Lord as corporate heroes & possibly a Bizarro named Ultraman dressed like Doomsday. We'll see more once that supposed finished trailer drops.

Hulk General

I don't know, though this panel on the last issue of the Hulk's new run spoke to me intrinsically about the nonsensical state of nature. Where Charlie states "We're the good guys, ok?" The truth is savage: no amount of goodness will save the weak from the will of the strong. It's like she wears a philosophical confession based on the unfair necessities of the human condition; A confession that to be human, soft and unsure, is a vulnerability the world will not forgive and the only way to survive is to snarl through the tears and hope no one sees the sheep still trembling underneath and that the world only makes sense when you force it to.

Cartoons that don't deserve a thread

So, I'm watching through this early-2000's series called Alienators: Evolution Continues, and the entire show just feels...off for some reason. I cannot put my finger on why. Why does he hate tradies and blue-collar workers so much? Like pretty much every tradesperson who's been on South Park has been a violent, stupid, alcoholic redneck who deserve to be jobless and have their jobs taken away. It's like he has the same mentality as movieblob where he thinks people who work with their hands and didn't go to university are sub humans who don't deserve basic human rights. While we've got everyone here, this might be a good place to finally try making a /hsg/ thread on a new board, since hopefully this /co/ won't nuke them on site. Make sure to read the board rules. Discuss how good homestuck was before act 6, how bad it got after act 6, the absolute disaster that is post-canon, how Hussie got groomed by ipgd, how Toby Fox succeeded where Hussie failed (at life), ships, fanfics, etc. Since the /hsg/ Original Posts were all around a single sentence long, I had to make one from scratch hopefully its enough of an effortpost. Tubi Adult Animated Series 'Breaking Bear' Cast Reveals It's Cast https://archive.fo/XR0dh >Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Elizabeth Hurley (The Royals) and Josh Gad (Frozen) will lead the voice cast for Tubi‘s new adult animated series Breaking Bear. >The series parodies the tropes of mobster dramas, comically combining elements of characters like Yogi Bear with series like The Sopranos. It hails from Julien Nitzberg (The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia), Evoke Entertainment (Creepshow, Twelve Forever, Day of the Dead) and Tom DeLonge’s To The Stars Media (Monsters of California, Unidentified). >Created by Nitzberg, Breaking Bear is billed as “a fur-flying, law-breaking, forest-saving rampage following a dysfunctional family of bears who go full criminal to stop frackers, mobsters, and a psychotic wolf pack from destroying their home. As they spiral deeper into the criminal abyss, they face off against biker gangs, an egomaniacal news anchor, and their own spectacular talent for self-sabotage.” >Fraser plays Jer. The oldest of the bear siblings, Jer fancies himself the brains of the operation. Unfortunately, he’s not only wrong – he’s lazy, clueless and usually the one getting everyone into hot water. If there is a wrong move to make, Jer has already made it. >Gellar plays Blair. The middle sister and actual brains of the family. Constantly overlooked, Blair’s the one who ends up cleaning up her brothers’ messes and keeping the family alive – whether they notice or not. >Murphy plays Tawny. A human, she’s a gorgeous local news anchor whose number one goal is getting ahead in her field to become the next big national newscaster. >Hurley plays Wolf Queen, the fierce and unyielding guardian of the forest. She is locked in a bitter rivalry with the Bears, whose growing presence and destructive ways threaten the land she is sworn to protect, by any means necessary. >Gad plays Alistar. The baby brother of the family, Alistar swings wildly from adorably anxious to full-on unhinged with zero warning. Push him the wrong way, and this teddy bear turns terrifying.

Pixar’s ‘Elio’ Overhauled: Rewrites, Director Swap, and a $300M Budget https://archive.fo/KoKE4 >Back in 2023, a source revealed that the studio had serious concerns about the film during production, indicating it needed substantial reworking. Initially slated for a March 2024 release, “Elio” was delayed to June 2025. The release delay seems to confirm those struggles. >“Elio” was initially directed by Adrian Molina, but in 2024, he was replaced due to a “scheduling conflict,” which absolutely nobody believes. Despite his departure, Molina still holds a co-directing credit. The film is now being led by Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian (“Turning Red”). >Behind the scenes, “Elio” has experienced major upheaval throughout its lengthy development, to the point where the budget tipped toward the $300M mark. A significant portion of the creative team was replaced midway through production—which, if you’ve seen both the 2023 and 2025 trailers, explains the dramatic shift in tone and style. While most of the character designs have remained intact, the latest trailer, released last month, revealed that some heroes and villains swapped roles entirely. >Alongside the director change, the film underwent extensive revisions in both its narrative and character development. The trailer also confirmed that Zoe Saldaña was now voicing Elio’s aunt, Olga Solis, replacing America Ferrera, who was originally cast as his mother but exited due to—wait for it—scheduling issues. >The earlier trailer leaned into a more somber sci-fi, highlighting Elio’s emotional distance from his hardworking mother. Although comedic elements were present later in the trailer, the overall portrayal of the protagonist was notably gloomier. That contrasts sharply with the lighter, more upbeat tone seen in the updated footage—and that’s all Domee Shi’s doing, as she was tasked with making it a more comedic affair. >A good film might still emerge when “Elio” premieres next month, but cautious optimism is warranted given the considerable drama surrounding the production since it began in the summer of 2022.

Adaptations you would like to see in film

What series would you like to see adapted into film or animated series? I will start first: I would like to see Invasion and it's successor Savage adapted. For those who do not know, Savage is set in an alternate history wherein a nationalist movement took hold in Russia after the death of Stalin, turning it into the Volgan Republic. The Volgan Republic then implemented a super-blitzkrieg that combined nuclear weapons and areal and ground troops. Bill Savage, an East End lorry driver suffered personally, not only the supposed death of his brother but the loss of his wife and children via a stray DU (depleted uranium) round. Months later, the Volgan Republic has installed a puppet prime minister (after killing the old one on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral) and is implementing its unique brand of authoritarianism. Bill Savage quickly becomes a key figure in the resistance and the story begins there. Imagine a combination of SS GB and 1984 with robots and experimental tech and you are there. The story has a gritty and unflinching tone that I feel would be perfect.

‘Invincible Fight Girl’ Creator Explains How This Original Series Survived Cartoon Network’s Internal Drama https://archive.fo/TvhT9 >If you’ve ever wondered why Western animation hasn’t done an action-anime series set in a fictional world of obsessed wrestling fans, then wonder no more because writer/director/creator Juston Gordon-Montgomery has birthed that idea into existence with his original Adult Swim series, Invincible Fight Girl (debuting Saturday, November 2, at 12:00am ET/PT, and the following day available on Max streaming). >It’s Gordon-Montgomery’s first animated series creation, after years of working in the industry in other capacities. Some of those other roles include directing episodes of DC Super Hero Girls, writing on My Dad the Bounty Hunter,, and storyboarding on films like The Smurfs: The Lost Village, Ferdinand, and Smallfoot. >Invincible Fight Girl is his long-gestating passion project centered on Andy (voiced by Sydney Mikayla), a life-long wrestling obsessive residing in the fictional land of Wrestling World. Despite her aspirations to get inside the ring (and show off her self taught moves), Andy has respected her parent’s wishes and played it safe by pursuing a boring accounting degree. Transformers Unicron is the gayest thing I have ever read

I know I'm late to the party but I went in with honest intentions, only to be met with these listed grievances and more, as well as an accompanying image to help illustrate my point: >bitchy women (I actually like strong action women but some writers assume bitchy equals strong and independent) >massive disrespect to legacy characters >gay haircuts and gayer millenial/gen x dialogue >mass character tags (I get why they do this but it just makes it feel so much less epic when the only worth most characters have is their tag, so why even bother noting who they are? plus some tags like "lizard guy" shows how little they care) >IDW OC worship especially for the boring fembots, they even end the story with one of them monologuing >the gayest, most retarded defeat of any Unicron. Even Bayformers sidestepping the end of Last Knight was a better defeat for Unicron >every other line is this white guilt garbage with some cybertronian feeling bad because of what their ancestors did or getting chewed out because of it which is more understandable but just makes the point drag on >didn't include it but that one combiner chick's arc of hating Optimus until he kills himself, would have saved pics of it but really it's just more hating on legacy characters and that's already in a couple times here >not up to date on IDW but there is a character in this story who to me looks like and is called Soundwave but acts like another person entirely >the body language is notably effeminate, this may be nitpicking but still >writing around what feels like the main event, like focusing on everything BUT what would be cool to see, then taking anything cool that actually does happen and blasting through it in one or two panels to get back to gay melodrama and quips >again- the dialogue is ATROCIOUS at least half the time I read a few IDW stories over the years like some All Hail and Dark Cybertron, I'd heard about Starscream leading Cybertron at one point and about Optimus being treated like a villain but I kind of assumed that last one would be over before the final arc here. I'm not going to pretend like my opinion should have as much weight as longtime readers but in my defense it does state you don't need to have read all of IDW to understand this arc (which I know is marketing for "please buy this even though you won't totally understand it) and there is plenty of expositional dialogue so people like me don't get lost, but there are certain aspects that I've already talked about that are universally understood regardless that stop this from being everything it feels like it should have been. My opinion is just my opinion, I state it like it's a universal truth but this post is just to vent and not to say that my personal tastes are fact especially for a story I skipped most of, I just want to know what other people thought of it both to see some other sides to it and also to confirm my biases.

Fritz The Cat

Watched this movie for the first time today. It was pretty good. Fritz is retarded and it's fun watching him screw everything up. Some of the transition sequences were really long for some reason. The Neo-Nazi terrorist gang at the end came out of nowhere and I'm not sure why Fritz helped them bomb a power station, but I thought the lizard-girl Nazi was hot.

Infinity Train

Apparently the show is getting a season 3 on HBO Max. The first season was fine. Kind of dumb that Tulip's problem was literally just "my parents are getting divorced & I can't go to nerd camp" instead of anything substantial. Season 2 had Mirror Tulip as the main character & her struggle with identity along with the secondary character's struggle with thinking for himself was way better. But the production quality was noticeably worse. Season 3 will now focus on a new character, Hazel, along with some side characters introduced last season who don't see being on the train as a bad thing that needs to be fixed.

Beloved animated short The Summoning resurrected as graphic novel series https://archive.fo/xv5HX >Oni Press is resurrecting the world of the viral animated short The Summoning with creator Elyse Castro for a three-volume graphic novel series. The original Frederator Studios short first premiered on Cartoon Hangover’s YouTube channel in 2017. The short followed a cat girl witch named Claire and her mischievous familiar Edgar as they sought out a missing ingredient for Claire’s summoning potion. In the eight years since the short’s premiere, it’s racked up 6 million views on YouTube. A representative of FredFilms tells Polygon that the company is currently developing an animated series based on the short. But with the graphic novel series, Castro gets a chance to delve back into her world. >“For as long as I can remember my imagination has been home to the whimsical, witchy world of Ridgewood,” said creator Elyse Castro. “Where Claire and Edgar experiment with magik, eat tasty treats, and accidentally annoy their fluffy neighbor. It’s nearly been 8 years since I was able to bring some of this world to you all through The Summoning cartoon short, and I’m ‘over the broom’ to share one of Claire and Edgar’s most important adventures with you all in The Art of the Craft. Please enjoy, and remember—do no harm.” >The Summoning Volume One: The Art of the Craft hits stores on Oct. 7.

A comic by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum. They worked together on the M.O.D.O.K. show and the M.O.D.O.K. Head Games comic. This series has 6 minis and an upcoming crossover with Archie. Their stories are only 11 minutes long and yet, they get paired up with another 11 minute story to make "an episode". Shouldn't it JUST be say one show airs at 5:00PM and then another show airs at 5:15PM? Why do they always gotta double up "segments" to make "an episode"? It doesn't make sense

It just came out and it honestly needs TONS of love and support ASAP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiff_(TV_series) https://disneynow.com/shows/kiff https://t.me/s/kiffbarry https://kimcartoon.li/Cartoon/Kiff If we could all work together by making "Kiff" go uphill (in other words, prove that Kiff truly is King) by boosting "Kiff"'s steaming numbers over on Disney+ (Because there's absolutely no way in hell I'm letting "Kiff" lose to preschool-shit, star-shit, cape-shit, and that hideously ugly Oceanside human skank that is Hailey Banks), and get "Kiff" TRULY trending/sweeping over on Social Media by making "Kifftwt (Kiff Twitter)" a reality, and drawing tons of lewds of (or commission tons of R34 artists to draw lewds of) Kiff Chatterley, Beryl Chatterley, Terri Buns, Mary Buns, Candle Fox, Renée, Miss Deer Teacher, Miss Tulane, Miss Moufflé, Principal Swan, Kim Popularé, and Marlina Deena Turina, that would be hella great! Characters you hate with a passion

I can't stand the little nigglet, wish he had died at some point, even if to try give some emotional weight, at least the writers are smart enough to always keep him on the sidelines because if he had become part of the main group i'd have abandoned the series. It's also really annoying how they try to force the idea that he's friends with the rest of the group when they have almost zero interactions with him. So what characters do you hate?

>Goku stands naked right behind a chained up Catra, the shackles on her hands being strung up from the roof. >Goku is standing behind her, naked, his cock now fully erect. You ready? Let’s fight! This is something Vegeta told me I could never do, he calls “fucking a woman”! I’ll show him! >Goku suddenly shoves his fat cock inside of Catra’s pussy >Catra cries out in agonizing pain No way! How does this feel so good??? Very odd but I’m liking this! >Goku then begins to thrust back and forth, stretching out Catra’s pussy and making it bleed. >”STOP IT! STOP! N-NOO!” >Surrendering already? But we’re just getting started! >Goku thrusts faster, gripping Catra tighter by her frame. >”YOU FUCKING B-BITCH! JUST WAIT UNTIL I- Yeah yeah yeah, less talking, more fighting! Fight me back! >Catra just continues to cry out and all attempts of flailing out of his grasp are futile. Oh man! This just gets better! >Goku slams into Catra’s back side faster and faster, his body starting to glow. >Catra is just wailing out at this point, not even saying any discernible words. Man… what is… what is HAPPENING?!!?? GRAYAAAAH! >Goku goes Super Saiyan as he busts his godly seed inside of the damaged cat girl. >”N-NO!” >Catra’s heart sunk with horror as she realized that she could become pregnant with his foe… however… Wow! Take that Vegeta! I managed this fight move after all! Why does it feel so GOOD though?? >Catra then yelped in terror and confusion as she felt her insides expanding. Goku wasn’t finished with his climax. With his powers, he was unloading shot after shot of his cum inside of her womb. >Catra screams out as her belly continued to inflate. >”PLEASE! F-FUCK! STOP! YOU’RE GONNA KILL MEE NOOAGUHHH! STOOOP! TOO MUUUCH!” No way! I ain’t finished… HNNGH…! YET! >Catra’s belly begins to creak loudly as it gets bigger and bigger. >“ADORA! IM SORRY! HWELP!! IM GHONNA-!” HELL YA! What a fight! >Goku ejects his last load inside of the heavily inflated Catra. >Then skin of Catra’s belly suddenly begins to tear as her insides begin to push out. “GGGGRAAAAAHHHHHGGH!!” >Catra’s torso then suddenly exploded, with skin, golden cum, blood and guys spilling out all over the place. >Catra held in place for a moment from the shock, then suddenly went limp, her body now freely dangling down, her eyes left open, beginning to glaze, her last breath escaping her mouth. ALRIGHT! I GOTTA TRY THAT MOVE AGAIN! Gotta find this “Adora” she mentioned, I wonder if she will be stronger! >Later… (Post credits scene) Well wait Beerus! You’re telling me that it wasn’t a fighting move? I was having sex? That’s what sex is? Man… no wonder why it felt so good I guess… but why would Vegeta tell me to try that? >Beerus facepalms

Chivalry starved?

I quite like this chivalry starved/familiar lands thing but I'm not entirely sure how to describe it's format, it's like a webcomic but also way too all over the place and disjointed to read in a proper webcomic website formatt, but it's way more serialization?/continuity than your average Twitter comic persons stuff which is basically the modern version of what newspaper comics were. FRANK

It's time for a Frank thread. It was cool to seen Bernthal in action again in the Born Again finale, but the way they handled the ending of it was pretty retarded. I can understand needing to put him out of commission for the martial law plot with Daredevil being the one to lead the resistance against Kingpin, but then you just have him immediately escape as a post credits scene? Now there was just no point in having him be captured to begin with.

DC Round Robin

In 2021 and 2022 DC thought it would be a good idea to let fans decide what comic pitch from a list of 16 would get published through a tournament bracket (not an actual round robin tournament.) The results were about what you'd expect. Fans of the C-list characters in the bracket were upset that all the pitches weren't on the same level when it came to character's popularity because only a retard would think Lobo and Animal Man had any chance against a team book of all the Robins. Then there was also controversy around all the books starring gay characters or brown characters getting absolutely demolished, so people started cheating to try and make those books win. I think that is ultimately what killed this idea, DC had to purge cheated votes on minority books and everyone was upset. They only did this two times, and out of the 32 comic pitches 3 got made. Robins (2021 winner), Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow (2022 winner), and Blue Beetle: Graduation Day (it got made so there could be a Blue Beetle comic on shelves with the movie.) I thought it would be fun to look back at these tournaments, and the comics that came out of them. Because despite me thinking it was a dumb idea DC handled poorly, I did enjoy the anger and resentment it fueled in the DC fanbase. Did you pay attention to the DC Round Robin in 2021 or 2022? Do you remember what you voted for?

American Dad returning to Fox

https://archive.fo/n5ehz >American Dad! is coming home. According to sources, the comedy, created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman, would air on Fox starting with its upcoming 20th season, marking the second MacFarlane animated series to return to the network following a break after Family Guy did it two decades ago. >The move of American Dad!, which has been airing on TBS since 2014, had been in the works for months, allowing the 20th Television Animation-made series to remain in production, I hear. Like on TBS, where American Dad! is coming off a string of two-year renewals, the pickup by Fox now being finalized is expected to be for multiple seasons. >American Dad!‘s migration to Fox was fueled by the $1.5B deal extension Fox Entertainment and Hulu closed in November that keeps the broadcast network’s shows on the Disney streaming platform in-season. As Deadline reported at the time, the new pact means that Fox’s long-running animated series The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers all produced by Hulu sibling 20th TV Animation likely will remain on the network. The trio would now be joined by American Dad! >American Dad!’s TBS run will come to an end with the upcoming Season 19 finale on March 24. The network and Warner Bros. Discovery sibling Adult Swim will continue to carry the series’ past episodes through 2030 as the exclusive linear home of the American Dad! library which currently is also available on WBD’s TruTV >The upcoming American Dad! finale officially closes a chapter for TBS as it is the network’s last remaining scripted original. The process kicked off after the Warner Bros.-Discovery merger which was completed a couple of months after American Dad!’s most recent two-season renewal.

Awful Hospital & Bogleech Thread

A a cosmic horror webcomic by Bogleech with a seemingly zany and humerous front that's actually about an existential terror represented in the form of a birthday cake know as "The Old Flesh" seeking to merge all forms of concepts into a singular entity lead by an visceral faction of discarded cognitive entities that remember their origins know as the parliament corrupting other cognitive entities into cancer like beings similar to them. Currently the main story is on hiatus with a spin off focusing on the other two main characters Willis, a living artery vein, and Issac, a slob (a cancerous Kroonenberg like abomination) getting involved with whatever machinations involving the denizens of the titular hospital. DC announces three new animated series https://archive.ph/uIqnA >“My Adventures with Green Lantern,” will follow high school student Jessica Cruz who has her life upended when, according to an official logline, “a Green Lantern Power Ring falls from the sky” and chooses Cruz “to be its champion.” Things get even worse “when more debris from the Lanterns’ ancient space war arrives – along with their alien foes.” Jake Wyatt is executive producing, and Stephanie Gonzaga is a co-executive producer. >“DC Super Powers” takes place at the Alliance School for Heroes and focuses on new students Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern and Terra who “level up their powers under the supervision of Principal Martian Manhunter, in the hopes of one day graduating and becoming the next generation of Earth’s defenders.” Matt Beans is executive producing, and Michael Chang is a supervising producer. >Finally, “Starfire” serves as the origin story for the fan favorite title character, perhaps best known as part of the Teen Titans. The show follows her adventures after she uses “an ancient spaceship” she discovers on her home planet of Tamaran to escape her planet and explore the stars. Along the way, she’ll meet “space biker Crush, plant-loving Fern, and the magical Princess Amethyst of Gemworld” and together, they will “uncover the deepest reaches of the DC universe, save Space Dolphins, surf technicolor nebulas, and boldly soar into the unknown.” Josie Campbell is executive producing, and Brianne Drouhard is co-executive producing.

Characters aging in cartoons

What are some cartoons where all the characters age as the series progress (as opposed to a single character going through puberty to explain a voice actor change)? Especially interested in ones where the change is visual. In Jimmy Neutron, Jimmy is 8 in the movie, 10 at the end of season 1 (visible in a newspaper clipping in Professor Calamitous's debut you'd never be able to read on an CRT with network artifacts), and 11 by the end of the series (and I'd assume the rest of the cast ages at the same rate). For most of the cast this is just a number since the models don't change, but I noticed that when Cindy and Libby got new outfits for an episode in the final season, the two have the beginnings of breasts, instead of flaunting how flat they are like Cindy's normal outfit. Kim Possible showed the cast go from middle school to graduating high school. I don't think their character designs really reflected this outside of Kim's younger brothers hitting puberty. Even Wade, who was explicitly 10 at introduction, doesn't really change.

Avatar Studios

https://archive.fo/27Dqy >Today, a Paramount merchandising video from September 2024 has been discovered online that features the possible slate of projects currently in development from Avatar Studios (it’s since been removed on Vimeo). It first mentions that the Netflix live-action series has been greenlit for seasons 2 and 3. Avatar Studios is a production company alongside Nickelodeon though not directly involved (via IMDB). Next, it shows Aang: The Last Airbender, the previously announced theatrical movie with the first revealed title card. Then, it confirms the long rumored Earth Avatar TV series will be released second. Followed by a second theatrical film, a brand-new Airbending TV series, and a final theatrical film. It will also end with a Firbending project under “new content.” The video also ends with the title Avatar Legends, which could be what the universe will be called to differentiate it from James Cameron’s Avatar universe. From the AAA game announcement in Oct, “This new Avatar Legends title reflects the companies’ shared desire to continue their long-term strategic partnership to bring Paramount IP to life.” So, let us break down what each project is or could be. >The first project to be released will be the Avatar Aang theatrical movie on January 30th, 2026, featuring a brand new cast of voice actors taking up the iconic roles. The cast includes Eric Nam (Transplant, Saturday Night Live Korea) as Aang; Jessica Matten (Dark Winds) as Katara; Román Zaragoza (Ghosts) as Sokka; and Dionne Quan (The Fairly OddParents, All Grown Up) as Toph. It will also introduce Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) as a brand-new villain. We at Knight Edge Media found a copyright submission on the project that lists it under the working title Lost Realm and mentions actor Steven Yeun (Avatar Wan in Korra) is in the movie. We also heard years ago that Dante Basco is expected to return from the original cast as Firelord Zuko, but surprisingly, he has yet to be announced. Paramount has brought tidbits on the Aang movie to CinemaCon in Las Vegas the past two years. It’s possible we could hear more about it at the event in April. >The second project to be released will be the Earth Avatar TV series following the events of The Legend of Korra on Paramount+. This will be the next series in the cycle of shows and take place in a post-apocalyptic world. Over the last month, we at Knight Edge Media revealed several exclusive tidbits about this yet-to-be-announced animated series. It will follow two South Asian twin girls, Avatar Pavi and (possibly?) Avatar Nisha, as they go on an adventure to discover what happened to Avatar Korra. Why are they the first set of Avatar twins in history? Does one have Raava and the other Vaatu? Why has their world become a wasteland full of terrifying energy storms? Why are there seven havens cities and not the four nations? The series is confirmed to run for 26 episodes initially and is currently titled Avatar: Seven Havens, though that final title can also change. It was made under the working title Aurora. No official voice casting has been announced for the series yet. >The third and fifth projects are two more theatrically released feature films. At one time, the three films were going to take place in different eras and feature different Avatars. This slate has an image of Avatar Aang, which may indicate the three films are a true trilogy following a 3-movie arc with adult Aang. It’s also very possible the images are just marketing placeholders to conceal that the two subsequent films are as self-contained stories with different Avatars. It’s unknown at this point if anything changed, though it would be fascinating if the rumored Avatar Korra movie were a prequel movie to the Avatar Pavi TV Series. Explaining precisely what cataclysmic event with Korra reshaped the world from four nations into seven havens/regions. Avatar News mentioned in 2022 that an “Earth Avatar movie” was also in development. It’s possible the Earth Avatar and Korra movies may be one and the same. Fans have also long wanted an Avatar Kyoshi movie adapted from one of the novels set in the past before Aang. >The new and surprising bit of information is a previously unknown and untitled Airbending TV series set to release between the two final feature films. It would be assumed that the following show (or Avatar) would be the Firebending Avatar set in the distant future. Since that would follow the Avatar cycle and the release of the shows, but they seem to skip them completely. Many fans thought the Earth Avatar series would be a cyberpunk-type series (like Mike and Bryan’s original concept for Avatar: The Last Airbender), but it turned into a post-apocalyptic series. Maybe the Airbender series could feature a new future Avatar or feature Avatar Aang or Avatar Yangchen, though this is all speculation. Hopefully, it’s new content and not a retread of Aang again. >Lastly, the slate reveals an untitled Firebending project is in development but listed as “new content,” not a series. This could be anything from digital shorts to another novel. Though it is most likely the AAA video game Avatar: Ice Wars based on the released concept art of a new unknown Fire Avatar set 7,000 years in the past. However, this is all speculation and way off in their plan. With so many animated projects in development simultaneously, it makes sense why it has taken years to release anything. However, a positive thought is that there will be less down time between projects being released, even if it’s a longer wait up front.

DuckTales Rumored To Be Cancelled by Disney

>Disney’s DuckTales reboot is rumored to have been quietly cancelled, according to Collider associate editor Drew Taylor >When pressed as to how he knew DuckTales season 3 would be the end of the series, Taylor said most of the crew have already moved on to new projects. >Disney is severely cash strapped right now, and despite animation being a key focus for other streaming services during the pandemic, it doesn’t appear to be a major focus for Disney+. <DuckTales is an incredibly expensive show to produce, and it might have been a casualty of The Mouse House’s dwindling fortunes. Other than hearing decent things about it I'm honestly shocked its getting axed. Of all the shows the Mouse still has they kill one of the few things that can pump out new episodes for a sizable fanbase. https://archive.is/gtftj

/co/ Pain Thread 8: Superslop at the end of the rainbow!

The world's on fire but the slop doesn't stop getting churned! Your thread for venting all your frustrations on various /co/ related movies, books, games, & shows is back! Feeling lucky? You shouldn't! The first tease of James Gunn's Superman has been revealed. Calling back to Kingdom Come but with a gold sigil & 50% less crappy textures. Will James Gunn save DC & Warner Bros.? Probably not but they're too far along to stop. On the animated side we're still getting not one but two more Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths parts to the Tomorrowverse. A disaster of an animated universe somehow worse than the New 52 based one previously. But they're bringing back Will Friedle as Terry McGinnis/Batman Beyond & Kevin Conroy's real last performance along for the ride. Also still getting the Suicide Squad Isekai anime. Something no one asked for that's clearly gotten too much yet not enough effort put into it. If you weren't sick of Harley already, now you're getting ANOTHER live action take on her in the sequel to Joker. An upcoming musical drama about Arthur finding love in the craziest of places. Arkham Asylum. But wait! There's more! Hollywood isn't just regurgitating Marvel & DC slop anymore! We're getting a reboot of The Crow. A film infamously starring Brandon Lee as the titular Crow that led to his untimely accidental death due to incompetence on set. Now The Crow/Eric Draven is being reimagined for a.... modern... audience. None of that comic book accuracy in looks though. No no. They've Jared Leto'd him for a new generation. It's a bold strategy, anons. Let's see how it plays out.

ReBoot ReWind

Does anyone here remember ReBoot? One of my favorite shows of all time. Lately Shout Factory's Youtube channels have had livestreams of it going 24/7, and I've just been leaving it on in the background whenever I have nothing else to watch. It holds up tremendously. The early episodes do have animation that shows its age a bit, but by the end of Season 1, it's already noticeably better, and I'll go out on a limb and argue that by Season 3, it holds up favorably against modern CGI cartoons. Recently some fans got together and made a very in-depth and professional 8 part documentary series about the making of the show. It is basically all made of interviews with the creators. They got basically all the creators and animators and directors who are still alive (including one of the top guys who tragically passed away before the documentary was released), and get tons of good information out of them. Of interest to /co/ is that one of these people is Dan DiDio, former EiC of DC Comics. He sometimes gets some hate from comics fans, as all EiCs do, but I liked most of his era, and I love his work on ReBoot and other Mainframe series. While making the documentary, the crew also found the original tapes of the series. It apparently took them months to then source the obscure and outdated machines required to run this particular kind of tape, and then they had to repair the machines, and I guess there is more work required to transfer all the material, but they uploaded the first episode in high quality to the Mainframe Youtube channel, and it does look markedly better than the already good DVDs. They even did a theatrical showing of the series and included one of the two IMAX rides from the '90s. There are some recordings of the first ride, but only partial recordings of the second, and of course they aren't in good quality. Some clips in the documentary show that they have access to the uncompressed versions of the cutscenes from the PS1 game. Hopefully they just release both the IMAX rides (and pre-ride material, and the uncompressed PS1 cutscenes, onto Youtube. The documentary also discussses how in Season 1, they were so behind on the animation that they couldn't deliver episodes on time, and instead made a series of commercials that tied together into a little story (called "The Trias Effect") to keep kids watching for a month. Most of these are on Youtube from the original airings, recorded onto home VHS, so not great quality. One seems to be lost, though. But these people seem to have found the tapes, so hopefully that gets released, too. I mean this is a series that is officially uploaded onto Youtube on several official channels, along with official livestreams. Hopefully nobody involved would be opposed to just also uploading higher quality versions of the episodes, along with some otherwise lost-media spinoff bits. Anyway, this documentary is excellent, and if you haven't watched the original series, you should. It starts off as episodic comedy, but the way it transitions into a much more adult continuing storyline is very cool. The animation was groundbreaking, pre-dating Toy Story, and once they got the ball rolling, it really holds up even today. Also, they hilariously go on and on about how they would all like to bring the series back, but they never once directly refer to "The Guardian Code." Such an abomination that they pretend it doesn't exist. Except when most of them do mention that they'd like to come back, they always say "but only if (creators) Gavin (Blair) and Ian (Pearson) were involved." Seems like they were swiping at The Guardian Code. Unfortunately, one episode is dedicated to Ian Pearson, who apparently died after all the interviews they got with him, but Gavin Blair seems to still have all the ideas. Part of me still has hope that he'll get to put those final episodes out there some day. At the very least, I wish he would just be a bit more specific about what the last episodes were supposed to be. He does talk about it a little bit, though, including clearing up the cliffhanger... They don't go into extreme detail, but since it's the main thing fans probably want to know, I'll give a very condensed version of their condensed version. Season 4 was supposed to be three four episode arcs. It then ends on a cliffhanger at the end of the second arc. Creator Gavin Blair mentions, however, that actually that cliffhanger wasn't intended to lead into the third arc. Actually they intended to release extended-edition DVDs, so all the episodes were supposed to be longer. When Cartoon Network reneged on their contract and fucked them over, the third arc and the extended edition DVDs were both cancelled. This then resulted in their merchandising deals getting cancelled, and toy company Irwin going out of business. Mainframe then scrambled just to try to finish what episodes they could get what they had out the door before they completely ran out of money. So the first two arcs of Season 4 are actually very condensed compared to what was originally intended, as they tried to keep certain things from the extended DVDs by cutting and trimming other bits. One bit that got trimmed was the last act of the last episode of the second arc. They figured it would be better to keep more of the rest of the episode/arc, and then hope that maybe the cliffhanger ending would be cool enough to work as an ending, and hopefully let them come back. But actually "The Hunt" that Megabyte refers to in the last line of the series was actually just going to be the final act of the episode. That's only about seven minutes. Then "there would be another double-cross" (referring to the previous time he was defeated) and the episode and arc would end. They don't mention what the third arc of the season would have been, but it wouldn't have been Megabyte hunting down all the protagonists, which is what fans assumed for the last 23 years. It would have been a new story after Megabyte was defeated. They do imply it was still gonna be part of a larger season arc, but they don't say what it would be, just that it wasn't gonna be Megabyte. PS: AndrAIa is best waifu. A Mouse is fine, too. Dot's a fucking cunt, though. PPS: The documentary also goes a bit into the making of the video for Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing," since it's by the same people. That's also cool.

For this month, I found a French series of comic translated in English involving a bunch of middle school kids and their teacher dealing with a witch that cursed them, plus some monsters. Horror Anthologies Story Time

It's this time of the year. I have been reading old horror anthologies lately and it is crazy how often stories are actually good in ones from EC and from Warren. Even back then anthologies were mostly hit and miss, yet somehow these two publishers built up a stable of good artists and writers who managed to produce good books consistently. Jennifer is one of my favorites so far. It was originally published in Creepy #63. Dark Horse reprint collections have it in volume 12. It was adapted in Masters of Horror series' fourth episode directed by Dario Argento.

The Wild Robot

It's another DreamWorks animated feature that mostly earns its "heartwarming" reception. I enjoyed seeing how a robot gradually gets along with the animals. She's also a motherly figure who raises a lone goose, while a fox ends up having a heart over his cynical nature thanks to her. The animation style and voices weren't wasted for once. My only gripe is through the last act where the robot deals with some other robot that wants to destroy its memory for no good reason besides being corrupt and earlier, she literally says that she is a wild robot but I'm glad that I watched it in a theater, even with a bunch of families and their kids in the way. Maybe I'll check out the original book, too.

Post about a cartoon you just finished

So, just finished off the BattleTech cartoon, and it was a decent show. The premise for the show is that, in the middle of the 31st century, humanity has been in a galactic civil war with itself for the past 300 years, with the favored weapons in this war being BattleMechs, gigantic bipedal machines that are essentially walking tanks. However, in the middle of this war, all of the galaxy is invaded by a new enemy called "the Clans", who aim to reunite the galaxy under their tribal rule. As a result of this Adam Steiner, as well as a ragtag band of mech pilots and technicians begin a self-declared crusade against these invaders, all the while reuniting the different factions across the galaxy so that they can fend off the Clans. Going into this series, you're not really required to be aware of any of the knowledge relevant to the greater BattleTech franchise, as it skims across the surface as much as it can. However, it does end up compromising a lot of details that does make the series lore so great and worth getting into. But, it's decent for what amounts to a childrens cartoon of a property who's sole focus is upon a galaxy at war with itself, fighting with giant robots. The animation for the series takes some getting used to. Saban decided to go with the novel idea of combining CGI with traditional animation, however I feel like it doesn't pull it together. Unlike with something far later like Code Lyoko, which the different styles are used for different worlds, the CGI in the series exists for the purposes of displaying a new "enhanced imagining" tech that's introduced and alters how a BattleMech pilot (A Mech Warrior) sees the battlefield. In practice, the transition comes across as a little jarring, especially when battles unfold using both the CGI and traditional animation rather than one or the other. And, as the series unfolds, the CGI actually does look for better for the purposes of the battles. As for the traditional animation. It's decent, but it comes across as a little stilted and off as well. Ignoring the scaling and perspective issues often present, it comes across like the series is trying to stay true to it's violent origins, but not TOO violent as to offend the station managers (This aired on Fox Kids during the same time as Spider-Man). In same ways, the best episode, when it comes to the animation is the last episode to the series, where it seems like much of the budget was spent. The audio I cannot really comment on because the only way to watch this series is through pisspoor VHS recordings, but it does have a lot of the same mech sound effects that you hear in the MechWarrior video games. Overall, it's an okay series, but it's a hard recommendation from me. Personally, I'd rather see the series remade, with either completely 2D or 3D animation. There is some great stories to be told in the BattleTech universe, but it just feels like there's so much else dragging this show down.

The Seth Rogen TMNT movie is still on the horizon & clocking it at number 1 for ugliest animated movie of the year. Ruby Gillman was ugly but only for it's human designs. Here? Everyone is hideous. The Flash came & went. Another box office bomb for DC & the chronological end of the Snyderverse. Blue Beetle will be officially part of the new DCU cinematic universe under James Gunn. Another low effort animated movie for their animated movie universe has been pumped out. Then finally we have the recently released Nimona. A half baked movie based on an even more horridly produced comic of the same name. Storytime - Mic key Mouse in The Currents of Time

Hello /co/, Since, earlier this month, Steamboat Wilie was finally released into the public domain, I thought sharing this would be appropriate. To give you a little context: This story was released in the Lustiges Taschenbuch #267 ("funny pocket book", a monthly German collection of European Disney comics), the very last issue released in the last millenium. Written by Francesco Artibani and Tito Faraci and drawn by Corrado Mastantuono, it is a sequel/love letter to the original Steamboat Willie cartoon, and one of my favorite Italian Disney comics for a number of reasons. Firstly, it has a certain sentimental or nostalgic vibe, and is one of the funnier Italian comics. Also, the way it's told and composed makes it very cinematic. I totally could see this getting adapted into an animated short. I translated this from the German version. I took a few minor liberties here and there, but tried to keep the overall dialogue intact as best as I could. Now, without further ado, I present you "The Currents of Time", a fun river adventure, in which Mickey Mouse and Peg-Leg Pete raise the famous Steamboat Willie.

The most poetic thing I've come to notice about this show is Rick's efforts to dismiss the existence of God. He has time and time again tried to proclaim his place as God by emulating what he thinks God is, and continually denounces religion in the face of his own Hubris, the kicker being that he prays to God the moment he's powerless. It suggests to me that he is always going on Atheistic tangents and trying to cement his place as a God among mortals in an effort to win his God's acknowledgement, because his own hubris veils his eyes from seeing the truth about himself. The Ricks Must Be Crazy indicates this with his spite for his universe's creator despite the fact that he was the creator of his battery Universe and the tiny verse's within it. A Rickle in Time indicates it's a facade with his prayers when he thought he was going to die, and his subsequent response after he fixed his collar.Something Ricked This Way Comes validates religion in a sense with the existence of the Devil, though it gets overlooked in later seasons most likely due to continuity errors. Whether intentional or not on Harmon's Part, it makes this show more Christian than it does Nihilist or Atheist in retrospect. Another observation is that without Jerry is far more competent than he's made out to be in the show. Without Rick, Jerry becomes more competent and becomes less dependent on Rick and Beth when he is forced to step up to the plate. With Rick Potion #9, the moment Rick was no longer in the picture, Jerry stepped up and saved Beth despite being willing to commit suicide if he found Beth cheating moments earlier. Despite earlier seasons portraying Jerry as stupid based on his irrational responses, his peeing on the floor schtick in Lawnmower Dog could be seen as a smart move considering snowball and the other dogs didn't act aggressively and dismissed him as a legitimate threat as a result, not to mention the implication of castration Jerry shrugged off as a haircut. Jerry is most likely not a genius, but his antics whether deliberate or not allow him to contest with Rick and Beth married him for a reason despite being the daughter of the Genius. Big Trouble in Little Sanchez speaks for itself. The general idea is that Rick is hailed as a God and Jerry is hailed as retarded, though the show demonstrates the opposite depending on how you look at it. Anyone else notice anything interesting about this show, intentional or unintentional?

Who would win Bueno Excellente or Superman?

Bueno Excellente everyone's favorite perverted vigilante or the one and only Man of Steel: Superman! Personally my bet is on Bueno since he was so powerful he even made Lobo fuck off at one point in time. Although Superman has the power of cosmic plot armor bullshit, so who knows if he can withstand Bueno Excellente at full power.

Voice Actor Segregation has Come for Cartoons

Now you can't act as a character that doesn't have the same skin color or race or belief as the character you're playing. Also, this only applies to white people since the hypocrites turn a blind eye to the many black people playing non-black characters like Samurai Jack. Let's also forget that there is an industry of foreign voice actors and dubbers who have voiced a lot of characters that didn't represent them personally or came from the same country as them for however many decades that cartoons have been on and nobody found a problem with it until now. Probably one of the most liberating things of being a voice actor is being allowed to play anyone and anything and that looks to be getting shutdown. The latest one right now is The Simpsons. Night of the Were-Ed Storytime 2023

Well well well, it's been quite a year, hasn't it? The Slavs are still slaughtering each other, Burgerland is about to catch fire from another election year, and Der Judenreich is about to enact the final solution to the Musselman problem. But all that doesn't matter, because for the next five nights at Freddy's, the only thing you have to worry about is the yearly curse. A tradition upheld, a promise honored. That's right, it's once again the Night of the Were-Ed

>Keith Giffen, Comic Book Maverick for DC and Marvel, Dies at 70 >Keith Giffen, a celebrated comic book artist and writer who began his career when comics were still on the fringes of popular culture, in the 1970s, but who rode the superhero wave toward the mainstream with DC Comics’ Justice League and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, popular franchises that became Hollywood films, died on Oct. 9 in Tampa, Fla. He was 70. >Mr. Giffen said he never sought such approbation. “I’ve no need to see my name splashed across the covers,” he said in a 1989 interview. “It’s very rare you’ll see me at a convention. Storytime: Boys' Night Out

It feels like the only new threads we get here anymore are obituaries, so I'll do a small storytime to break the mold. Back in the early 2010s, Max Landis teamed up with some no-name artist to make Boys' Night Out, an unlicensed short story about Mickey "Mike" Mouse enjoying an evening with his friends while quietly dealing with a midlife crisis in the background. Though crass in its presentation, there is a tenderness at the heart that will resonate with folks who are dealing with navigating the next stage of adulthood after seemingly getting their life in order. As the comic features adult topics, Disney's lawyers were very quick in trying to get the comic erased. How successful they were is debatable. You'll find hardly a mention of it online outside of some years-old Blogspot posts that no one's gonna stumble upon unless they're already actively looking for the comic. But the entire comic is still available on the artist's website. But you have to register an account to get at it, as if you were borrowing some forbidden book from a library. Which is bullshit, so let me just put the whole thing here for all to read.

‘Futurama’ Revival Ordered at Hulu With Multiple Original Cast Members Returning https://archive.fo/wip/3ekgq >Variety has learned that the streaming service has ordered 20 new episodes of the adult animated sci-fi comedy series. The revival hails from David X. Cohen and Matt Groening. Cohen developed the original series with Groening, the series creator. >Original series cast members Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman will all return. John DiMaggio, who voiced Bender and several minor characters, is not currently attached. According to an individual with knowledge of the project, the producers are hopeful DiMaggio will return. Should that not happen, Bender will be recast. >Though DiMaggio did not initially make a statement about the revival, he retweeted several posts in which others expressed their desire for him to return. >“@TheJohnDiMaggio needs to come back as Bender or this isn’t good news, everyone,” one retweet read, while another simply said: “Come on, pay the man!” Later Wednesday afternoon, DiMaggio did provide an update through his Twitter, thanking fans for their concerns and promising to keep people posted on his potential involvement with the project. >Production will begin this month with an eye towards a 2023 premiere. “I’m thrilled to have another chance to think about the future… or really anything other than the present,” said Cohen. >“It’s a true honor to announce the triumphant return of ‘Futurama’ one more time before we get canceled abruptly again,” added Groening. “Futurama” focuses on the life of Philip Fry (West), a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy who accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later with a fresh start at life and a new group of friends including Leela (Sagal), a tough but lovely one-eyed mutant, and Bender, a robot who is fond of drinking excessively, smoking cigars, and stealing anything not nailed down. >“When presented with the opportunity to bring fans and viewers new episodes of ‘Futurama,’ we couldn’t wait to dive in,” said Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment. “This iconic series helped blaze the trail for the success of adult animation since its initial launch and we look forward to Matt & David continuing to pave the way and further establishing Hulu as the premiere destination for fans of the genre.” 20th Television Animation is producing “Futurama” with Rough Draft Studios, Inc. contributing the animation. >This marks the second time the show has been brought back since it originally launched in 1999. After its initial four-season run on Fox, reruns of the show found new life as part of the Adult Swim lineup on Cartoon Network and on DVD. Four direct-to-video films were then produced, which were later re-edited into a fifth season that aired on Comedy Central starting in 2008. Comedy Central would go on to air two more seasons consisting of 26 episodes each between 2010 and 2013. >The show developed a strong cult following over the years and was also met with critical success. It was nominated for 14 Emmy Awards in total, winning six, including best animated program twice as well as winning twice for best individual achievement in animation. >“What I love about animation is that it’s possible for a successful show to take a pause and then resume years later, even on a different platform, and pick up right where it left off. ‘Futurama’ is one of those shows,” said Marci Proietto, head of 20th Television Animation. “The excitement from Hulu about returning Matt and David’s genius creation for all-new episodes has been off the charts. I’m thrilled that this incredible team will get to tell more stories, and that our Planet Express crew will have more adventures together. It’s a win for the fans who have loved the show since the beginning, and for the ones who will now discover it for the very first time.”

Bonus if you guys got artbooks on them as I am practicing drawing myself and I could use some good artists drawings to learn good stylistic choices.

LGBT pandering in cartoons.

There's been a lot more pandering towards LGBT groups in cartoons these past few years and so far for the sake of "representation" but more often than not I've noticed that most people in favor of this tend to be shippers or at least have some sort of zealous fascination to the point of being fetishistic. They don't seem to be all too concerned with how the dynamics of how the two characters work together in a relationship or care about build up all that much and just introduce them for the sake of appeal rather than work up the relationship between the two characters. It makes gay characters in general seem like a gimmick meant rather than any meaningful development. Older cartoons like South Park with Mr. Slave and Big gay Al had more going to them than just being gay even if being gay was a big part of their character since their introduction.

Comic Artist Tim Sale Has Died

>“It’s with a heavy sadness that I must announce that Tim Sale passed away today,” said a message from Sale’s Twitter account. “He passed with the love of his life beside him, and loves all of you very much.” The cause of death has not yet been revealed. DC Comics also confirmed his passing with this post and tribute. >Some of Sale’s other unforgettable Batman work came in Legends of the Dark Knight and Dark Victory, and for his work on Superman in the “Year One” style series Superman for All Seasons, while over at Marvel he helped shape the definitive early years of several heroes with the color themed origins like Hulk: Grey, Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, and Captain America: White, all of which were also with Loeb. The pair also worked on the hit NBC show Heroes, another bridge between comic book culture and mainstream popularity. RIP https://archive.ph/y8Qfa

RIP Carlos Pacheco

>Comic artist Carlos Pacheco died on Nov. 9, a little over a month after the iconic illustrator announced that he had been diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Born on Nov. 14, 1961, he was 60 years old. >In September, Pacheco revealed that he had been diagnosed with ALS, which is also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." Pacheco's announcement -- originally posted on Facebook and since deleted -- was translated from Spanish by CBR's Diane Darcy. It reads, "Well, it cannot be. The final diagnostic has made it clear: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease), aka ALS. It is what it is, and it is what needs to be dealt with. It’s true that this is an unexpected turn of events in my life, but this doesn’t make me feel less fortunate to have lived the life I have lived, for the experiences I’ve had, the achievements I’ve made, and the people I’ve been fortunate to cross paths with. In truth, it’s been a life that’s gone beyond my wildest childhood dreams. Thank you to everyone who has been here. Let’s keep going as always!" https://archive.ph/jvAsz

some time ago back on 8k (before the whole debacle) some anon posted about some kinda unknown italian cartoon named Star Key. the show feels like those imitation-anime toons from back in the 00s, but it was made in 2018. All 26 episodes are in YT, but untranslated in italian. The story is about Luce, the protagonist, who is an orphan that discovers shes a princess from a distant planet, and the only one capable of finding some mythical artifact (the star Key) for reasons theres also an antagonist princess named Fedora who is also looking for said item. Been checking episodes back and forth, but my pasta-speak is very weak. somebody on YT subbed the first episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzOvJPcGNfM

Netflix Holocausts It's Animation Department

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD >The news of the changes in the department emerged around the same time the quarterly earnings report for the Netflix streaming platform surfaced. Netflix saw its stock plunge more than 30% after highlighting the loss of 200,000 subscribers, which was the first time the platform had seen such a decrease in over a decade. >Phil Rynda, whose official title is Netflix’s Director of Creative Leadership and Development for Original Animation, was let go this week, along with several of his staff >Along with the firings, the department is seeing the cancellation of notable Netflix shows, including Lauren Faust's Toil and Trouble, Roald Dahl's The Twits, and the heavily delayed adaptation of Jeff Smith's comic book series Bone. >(Netflix confirms their decisions are made using data, which takes into account viewing versus cost.) >Netflix currently touts “Boss Baby” as the ideal of what an animated series on the platform should be and what kind of numbers those animated series should be bringing in <The future is a Nickelodeon style hustle with licensing out the ass and family guy clones everywhere After years of forcing their crappy diversity requirements down project's throats, its all finally come to bite them in the ass. https://archive.ph/aWi6W https://archive.ph/A0Qoh https://archive.ph/OQo8y

The unassuming merchant became one of the best running gags of Avatar, and he is still talked about today. The Cabbage Merchant appears through the show with his stand of produce which always gets smushed by the Avatar and Company. Time once more for a new thread for all things /co/ that cause us pain & anguish. We've got quite a lot lately with everything in the MCU from Apeman By Night to She-Hulk the slutty green giant. Somehow leaving the Mario movie by Illumination being the least terrible among the batch of crap we're getting.

New Scooby-Doo Bases Series 'Velma' by HBO

'Velma' will be a modern, violent and mature™ take by HBO on the origin story of Velma Dinkley https://archive.ph/a21V1 >With the teaser trailer having dropped last Friday, 7 October, the series boasts a new and diverse look to the classic depiction >As commented on by Kaling during the first-look reveal in May, Velma will be represented as a South Asian character. >When speaking about the representation of this character, Kaling noted, "This journey of self-discovery for [Velma] is something that really drew us to this project and this character. So we want to honour other interpretations and what we think feels really modern." <According to the available log line, the series sets to depict the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. "The original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colourful past of one of America's most beloved mystery solvers," read a segment from American media publication, Variety. >The first season is set to debut at some point in 2023 on HBO Max, and will consist of 10 episodes. >Up-and-coming actor Sam Richardson, who recently appeared in Disney's Hocus Pocus 2 (2022), is set to claim the role of Shaggy. Crazy Rich Asians (2018) star, Constance Wu, is said to take on the bewitching role of Daphne, while fellow The Mindy Project (2013) co-star to Kaling, Glenn Howerton, is taking on the leader of Mystery Inc, Fred. >Other actors who have been revealed to be involved with the show in an undisclosed capacity (as of now) include Jane Lynch, Nicole Byer, Shay Mitchell, Wanda Sykes, Ming-Na Wen, Debby Ryan, and Russell Peters, just to name a few. <However, one big and noticeable change to the group will be the removal of Mystery Inc's mascot — Scooby-Doo, who will not be featured in the series entirely >Showrunner for the series, Charlie Grandy, stated that due to a multitude of reasons, they would be excluding Scooby from the series. "When we were going into the show and thinking about adapting it, we wanted to be respectful. We didn't want to just kind of take these beloved characters and put them in outrageous or gross situations and say, 'Isn't it crazy you did that to Velma?'" At least the hound will be exempt from this absolute contemptuous dumpster fire. So to summarize the changes: >Aesthetic from warm, rounded cartoon style to hard-edged gay PR style >Fred changed from alpha Chad Aryan to cross-eyed beta weakling >Velma (the smart one) now SEA, and super smart >Shaggy, fan fave cowardly stoner -- GONE, replaced by cynical (probably brave) black man >Daphne, symbol of beauty and WASP elitism-- demonic Karen oozing white privilege. Of course they are also openly and blatantly full of contempt for the viewer already, preemptively implying anyone that hates this is a no life troll that sends death threats over "insignificant" (read: when you complain about it) things that are also AMAZING and diverse (read: when they do it) cast!

AI for subtitling less famous series.

So, I downloaded a series and I want my little sister to watch it, there's a problem, we're Mexican. I know my English just enough to watch anything without issues but she's younger. I would have to translate all of the english subtitles that came with the torrent to spanish, but I don't have time, nor do I want to pay anyone to do so, but there's little interest for anyone else to translate the subtitles of the fucking Dilbert animated show. So I had the idea of making ChatGPT do it, then just correct any mistake it could make, I have already used it to translate song lyrics in spanish so fellow anons can enjoy them. First problem, character limit, it states to be 4096, even if I enter it, it gives up translating about at a quarter of that. Second problem, decided to go with a smaller experiment, an Aqua Teen Hunger Force subtitle, short, and easy, and still rare to find in spanish, but ChatGPT didn't do shit because of "Adult content" and trying to be a PG AI or some retarded shit. I don't know anything about how to use local AIs, anybody can give me an alternative that works?

Given the surprise announcement, plot details, as well as the creatives and stars attached, are to be announced at a later date. >The news comes amid a round of huge layoffs at the embattled company, which will let go of 7,000 employees, or roughly 3% of its workforce, as the media behemoth looks to cut $5.5 billion overall in costs.

CW DC universe shows: Smallville edition

So the first ten minutes of the pilot for smallville is fantastic. We get a rain of kryptonite (makes sense, as much of that shit is fucking everywhere in superman comics it was probably a pretty traumatic event) We get Lana Langs parents totally disintegrated by a kryptonite strike, hardcore as fuck, and then we start getting questionable things. Like Lex is bald because of the kryptonite strikes blowing all the hair off his head at 6. Pretty fucking stupid and pointless, but whatever. Then we get our obligatory skip in years. And Clark's a geek who wants to join the football team. His folks are agin it for obvious reasons (no one really talks about it but superman could kill people without trying) And then a tobey Maguire spidey reference with a missed school bus. That's where I'm at with the pilot so far. Pretty fucking good. If they are willing to straight murder the shit out of people on a pilot then there's promise for a fairly hardcore show. Thread question: Lana Lang or Lois Lane?
