CN the story had to go through multiple rewrites to please the fans, and if this is the situation post-rewrite I don't know how much hope I should be having. Klukai is for (you) instead of her family, and all of her character arc of the ENTIRETY of GFL1 (AND PNC) was essentially nixed. Her entire story arc was essentially "I should be less of a cunt." GFL2 introduction? Massive cunt (with a heart of gold). Haha. Yay. Woohoo. Going from PNC which has a very tight, cohesive story (excluding one event) that is laser focused on Persicaria, your relationship with her, absurdism, the power of meaning and how one becomes a leader, it just comes off as the sloppiest sloppity slop to milk gooners from their money. They keep aping modes from Honkai Star Rail and then failing to do anything that actually make those modes good. An example, Simulated Universe in HSR exists as a method of exposition and world-building, NOT as a funny heehee hawhaw roguelike mode, as much as it may look otherwise from the simple fact that it's a really good roguelike mode. GFL2 somehow only copies the mechanical functions of the mode, but SOMEHOW fails to pick up that it is ENTIRELY propped up by its stellar writing. The developers also fail to understand, that the mechanisms in a turn-based JRPG don't quite contribute to a SRPG with stability and cover mechanics so it comes off as really limp. TL;DR the story is hopeless, none of the foundations laid in the prior games paid off, all the characters are for (you) and they no longer appear to have coherent goals of their own, and mechanically the game is eh. Somehow, Reverse Collapse is a better follow up for IDW/Betty in GFL1 / PNC than any of the dolls in GFL2.

This is one of the first events in PNC, and it comes out swinging with romantic Hubble. Its such horrendous whiplash coming into GFL2 where it very, VERY clearly hates that it is in a VN format. It wants animations, and cutscenes, and dialogue, but does not actually realize it... it is a VN and refuses to do the heavy lifting of descriptions and well-written dialogue that this requires. Pic 2 is one of the chunks of writing with Hubble I mentioned, and pic 3 is what you can see in the backdrop as she says some of the best lines of dialogue revolving around astronomy I've ever read. "Wait, isn't this for (you) as well?" Yeah, but its written well so I frankly don't care, and spoiler for PNC. You canonically fuck Persicaria like six times. Hubble lost. All the other dolls lost. GFL2 has absolutely nothing that compares to the fun, passion, and thematic poignancy that PNC or GFL1 has. It feels soulless. It feels like slop. It feels like corporate branded GFL content that HATES that it is Girls Frontline and spitefully does away with all historic precedence because its cool. Springfield has a HELICOPTER. GFL1 we get air support a few times, and EVERY TIME it won the battle for us IMMEDIATELY. We paid for that air support in favors, deeds, and dead. Eg: Futanari + overlord (with AI filtered since if I wanted AI I'd just do it myself) has 3 images on r34 and 77 on pixiv. Although the vast majority of them are Albedo. Shalltear has like 3, Clementine has 1, and if you want something like Yuri Alpha you're shit out of luck. Same shit for similarly popular anime like psycho-pass. Some stuff in the top 100 popular on MAL (using this as a proxy for western audiences) has more like Kaguya-sama, but once you start to get into 'popular but not top 100 popular' anime or dating sims or even into gacha that aren't in the top 5 in the west you start to run out of any art at all incredibly quickly. Plus there being far more pink art means you can generally find art that matches what you want better or that is more aesthetically pleasing just down to 'if 5000 images are drawn of thing, there will probably be more good stuff in there than if there's only 50 images of thing' All this to say: I can't imagine people getting mad about pink ref purps when purp art is relatively rare compared to pink art, or just outright nonexistent for a large number of characters.
