FAQs
>What the fuck is Vintage Story
It's like Minecraft's autistic alcoholic brother. It's minecraft for men who hate their wives. It's Minecraft for people who drink scotch and listen to Low and think about how good things were when >she was around.
Basically it's just a more advanced format of a voxel block game, with a bit more of an emphasis on 'Realistic' survival in a harsh world. It's not impossibly difficult, but it's a learning curve. The appeal is in a collective struggle to overcome the seasons and build a living. It's very comfy.
>Okay but what do you do?
The game is quite complex, and in the past, we form a little village and everyone has their own little job, some people focus on farming, some smithing, some mining and so on. There's enough for everyone and overlapping isn't a huge deal. There's an in game mod for board games, there's alcohol and instruments. There's chiselling that allows you to create art and sculpture. There's just kind of a lot, and it can't neatly be surmised.
>Wow, that sounds fucking boring. How do I kill stuff.
There's also a storyline to the game which currently features a dungeon, a large overworld combat area and two boss fights. It's WIP and a little rough. But, it's there.
>So I have to play with other people?
No. I mean, we want to build a nice little town or something. But, you can fuck off into the wilderness and go be a wild man living on rabbits and berries, we won't stop you. If you have any questions there's a global chat and we're all really nice. :3
>Classes? What classes are taken?
So broadly it doesn't matter. Again, overlapping is not a big deal. But classes represent a way to specialise in something. You can respec later if you ask really nicely. But, do so in moderation, please.
>I'm not buying this game!!
At the present moment in time, if you happen to find an .exe in the back alley of Wendy's, you should be allowed to join the server. Just ensure it's the right version.
>Where the fuck is everyone?
That's a complicated question and will depend on how old this thread is as you're reading it. But, if we establish a more fixed settlement, we shall make mention of it. In the mean time, you can ask in game. We have a very basic house set up in the south of spawn, but we're moving soon to somewhere less hideous and hilly.
>It's winter, I'm starving, I'm cold, I hate everything.
Yeah.
