A new year'll mean new news, so I've made this thread in order to accumulate news for those unable to get it. First Sonic news of the year: Both Sonic Mania and the Collector's Edition will be ported to the Nintendo Switch by Tantalus Media, the same company who helped port The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to the Wii U.

In this recent update they have added Seasons- a new ranking system that can only be entered if you are at tier 4/have 1,000 or more trophies 3 new tiers- these tiers do not add any new tracks, but they are for hardcore competitors of the season Tracks edited- these edits are to get rid of any unfair advantages Slam!- you are now able to slam on rakld Menu edit- pics related

New information on Team Sonic Racing will be covered in this week's Famitsu issue on June 7. From this preview, Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega have been confirmed as playable characters, while the Black, Blue, and Crimson Wisps have been confirmed as powerups. For racers we have so far, there's: >Sonic >Tails >Knuckles >Shadow >Rouge >Omega >Egg Pawn That leaves 8 unrevealed characters.

If we're following the standard Heroes team formula, then the rest should be Team Rose (Amy, Cream, Big) and Team Chaotix (Espio, Vector, Charmy) with likely Metal Sonic and Eggman joining the Eggpawn as Team Eggman. That does leave out Silver and Blaze, so that would be unfortunate unless they replace someone on Team Rose or Team Chaotix gets dropped.

A Kotaku UK article states that the game has you race with the team of the character you pick. Items can be requested by any teammates who have fallen behind and transferred to the first fallen-behind teammate who accepts it. You can perform Team Ultimates, powerful speed boosts, by slipstreaming (trailing behind a teammate for a certain amount of time), passing items to your teammates, or using your items to hit other racers. The E3 build, sent to a small group of journalists, features Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, and Omega as playable characters, while blue and orange Egg Pawns take up the remaining racers as CPUs. The gameplay footage features Orange and Red Wisps in addition to the already-confirmed Black, Blue, and Crimson Wisps, as well as brand-new voice clips recorded, a first for Sumo Digital's racing games. http://archive.is/aAqbz
