>I don’t get why niggas cry about zzz not having a consistent aesthetic or setting
50% of the bitching is done by people who way of engaging in the community is, unironically, bitching about things, they play multiple gacha, they compare all of them, all the youtube videos they watch are about Hp bloat, power creep, greedy gacha mechanics, "Oh genshin could never" "HSR is finally Dead" they don't actually give a fuck about anything below surface level, they just like to bitch.
Season one was the set up to where we are now, it seemed disjointed sometimes and some story's were rushed and terribly paced, but let's paint where we are. We've established the setting.
Mundane apocalypse, 90% of the world has been swallowed by horrors beyond human comprehension and within that one final spot is a mega city. Ran formally by a mayor, with it's own military defense force and probably several smaller more secret agencies under him.
Several major corpos doing shady mega corpo shit, with their own secret agencies, bounty hunters, assassins, espionage and what not.
Our MC's are big name proxies who are well know, well respected, and considered to be the best at their jobs, earning them several connections, and we get to see how they make all those connections. Year one was all networking.
The cunning hairs set us up for the little guys and the underground, Nicole also acts as a wildcard because she can plausible know anybody in the city and have done a job for or adjacent to them.
We gain connections to the local Police through Chinky is Zhu, Jane acting as another wild card.
The outer rings and gangs though SoC
The high society and corpos through Astra/Eve
The literal void hunter of New Eridu
The Miss. Tsushimi Mibibi
More underground criminal rings through mockingbird.
The military through Trigger
And arguably the most important, the mayor's own special little taskforce, Victoria housekeeping, giving the mayor of New Eridu a direct and secure line to Phaethon.
And all of that world building was done with an over arcing plot in the background starting from the very beginning when you get involved in some random corpo drama thanks to Nicole.
The 2.x story has been a far more focused story, we arrived under the care of Shifu, established ourselves in China town, got friendly with all the locals, helped out some minors, became besties with another set of minors, got drafted into the army, and all of it has directly correlated the main story of the cultists, with a B plot involving the corpos and their own special task force of fuck up fixers.
If you ask me I think the overall story has been perfectly consistent and leading to exactly the point we're at.
I do think the transition of the siblings going from using Eous to walk around the hollows to doing it in person was fucking terrible and rushed and made little sense, but I can look past that.
