Having grinded a dozen hours of Shifu/Qingyi on Miasma Priest, the boss is very RNG before the first stun and leading up to the fourth stun (watch any Lin0 video about the fight and you'll hear him complain about it). Let's call those periods phase 1 and phase 4. The flow of the fight is
- phase 1: Free combat (she can choose relatively freely from 5 or so attacks), always opens with 2-3 chained dashes, you get the first stun at the end of this phase around 2:20 if on good pace, shortly after her AOE circle explosions attack.
- phase 2: Parry flurry pattern. Good resource management and usage here produces another stun immediately after finishing all the parries, at around 1:45 if on good pace.
- phase 3: Miasma shield. Her patterns are fixed during this phase, always doing chained dashes into AOE circle explosions into another parry flurry. You should break the shield during the flurry and get a stun shortly afterwards, around 0:55 if on good pace.
- phase 4: Free combat again. Final stun should happen at around 0:15 to give sufficient time to do Shifu's full burst combo.
In phases 1 and 4,
- She can pick attacks like the slow sword swing or chained dashes several times, forcing a reset because you needed parryable attacks for decibels.
- She can randomly block attacks, taking 1 damage and no daze for a random amount of time, forcing a reset if she does it for several seconds, especially if it was right before something important like triggering stun.
- Even when she gives you parryable attacks, she might not give you the ideal one (the four quick parry chain that impairs her) and might do one of her slower attack sequences that ends after one or two parries and have large boss-is-flinched-and-doing-nothing windows afterwards. With stun timings being fairly tight, worse patterns can matter.
Fufu makes executing all this drastically easier. Like, I needed near-perfect RNG with Qingyi to get a kill on the 2.0 Miasma Priest, but I rolled Fufu and got a kill on the next DA rotation (where it had the same HP) in a handful of attempts with mediocre RNG.
Now, if you're not going for kills, or you want Fufu available on another team (I used her a lot with S11 on Pompey during 2.X rotations that had both him and Priest), Qingyi's a perfectly fine substitute. Without the minmax pressure, you can be somewhat scuffed and still get great scores, and actually getting 4 stuns is a bit easier with Qingyi.
