Next HOYO game on UE5 30mins gameplay vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NccLyRQQZY Thoughts?
sex with my id
kind of a departure from HOYO's typical aesthetic preferences. muted and downtempo. vaguely resident evil and control-esque. not really vibing with the faces or the "UE5slop" look
the open world driving / map is pretty cool i guess
>Senior Live Operations Manager definitely some kind of live service
It's very funny when I hear anything about any hoyo game doing bad when it's clear they have way too much money and have no idea what the fuck to do with it, i mean what even is this really what niche is this filling, what games is this pulling it's playerbase from?
>>1277510 all companies have to expand and acquire new users or die. sitting on cash is pointless. cursory glance at rumbling outside of the gacha spheres is showing some interest but perhaps not necessarily for the live service aspect of this
>>1277132 >UE5 slop why?
>>1278408 >massively streamlines production pipeline >generally reasonable licensing fee >accessible assets marketplace >industry standardization + hiring + onboarding >can look pretty good UE5 is being widely adopted because it saves corporations time and money
>>1278428 now name a good UE5 game
>>1277132 The characters give me a strong uncanny valley feeling.
>>1278716 it's like a hi-fi fatal frame but a little too crispy
>>1277132 I really dislike the artstyle. It's a pass for me.
So the game is set in Singapore, and it looks like a 3D hack-n-slash Reverse 1999. I'm also going to assume this project is mainly managed by an overseas development team since we never got a CN dub on the teaser. I hope it's not just another gachaslop but Mihoyo's actual attempt at making a real game.
>>1278861 only position they're hiring from overseas is marketing. and it's a live service. they don't do one and dones anymore. they did one in the past, got burned by piracy, and realized its generally a waste of time to monetize only once after spending all that time building assets. this is a recruitment ad for poaching UE devs from the pacific region to build up company's competency in another engine while simultaneously disrupt other companies from developing their own institutional knowledge, while building up a marketable product
>>1277132 Not digging the visual tbh.
>>1279011 >trust me next year the jenshin killers will finally do a thing! >this time for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would've forgotten this conversation and moved on with my life while you keep grudging for no reason lmao
>>1278720 actual panties in a hoyo game?!
>>1279015 You can gloat all you want, but Mihoyo's spotlight is coming to an end soon, and by extension, Genshin Impact thank God.
>>1279019 by all objective metrics hoyoverse as a company is only getting started and is on track to become a global household name within the next decade. this is almost a 100% certainty. but i will acknowledge the natural waning interest overtime that happens to all products, and genshin is no exception. except that being in the market lead affords you an extraordinary lifespan the same way that WoW just refuses to die despite everyone saying that it would.
>>1279019 but I want ZZZ to survive. It's like the only gacha that's fun
>>1279029 WoW refuses to die because it's an MMO, same with Runescape Maplestory. Genshin however, doesn't have the social aspect in-game despite being considered a "social game". The moment Mihoyo decides that marketing Genshin is unprofitable, the cascading loss of interest will also come along with it. I think losing Genshit is gonna be a net-positive for Mihoyo either way since they will finally have to rethink their strategy. Instead of trying to please everyone on a single game, why not diversify and corner different niches instead of cross-pollinating cancer from one IP to the other *cough Genshitters cough? Either way, nothing's good that will come out from poaching HoK developers and over reliance on AI and will probably drag Mihoyo down with their bullshit lole.
Imagine panties gacha.
>>1279064 I'd whale
>>1279041 ZZZ will survive on its own because it carved its niche that Mihoyo's been badly neglecting since Genshit's success. Now they just have to learn everything good they did with HI3 before Genshit existed and they're set for life.
>>1279061 >jenshin doesn't have the social element in game disingenuous to disregard co-op that is integral to many players' experience and imprinted memory, alongside the brand spanking new miliastra mode. nevermind the massive shared social experiences outside of the game from cosplays to fanart to lore discussions. jenshin is massively social to the degree that even people such as yourself talk about it :^) also the idea that they'll cut jenshin the moment it becomes unprofitable is fan fic at best and shitposting at worst. partly because they've shown continued support for their older IPs despite their natural decline in revenue, but mostly because genshin continues to be massively profitable and far from unprofitable. they've consistently demonstrated reinvestment in all forms of content for all their IPs there's no reason why that would change with jenshin. >rethink their plan when they've executed a near perfect business strategy with obvious successes after successes lmao >why not diversify and corner different niches isn't that what they're doing right now? >HOK dev and AI talent migration is normal in the industry and not an inherent risk. hiring people that've worked on big projects is an investment to acquire expertise instead of wasting time and money to learn it the hard way. moreover the whole "AI BAD" is luddite tier thinking. any company that refuse to learn AI and implement it in their content pipeline is doomed. it's like being an artist and don't know how to use photoshop. efficiency is the way going forward. by offloading repetitive tasks to AI humans can make decisions on more important tasks which leads to faster content cadence and better end consumer retention. no one wants to wait around for content. no one wants to sit through content droughts. AI is the key to industrialization and hyper productivity of content creation.
I think its pretty telling that Genshitters worship success more than their own game lol.
Whats even more telling is how "genshit" lives rent free in some peoples mind to the point where its failure is the only way to evict it from their heads
>>1279158 Its because of the cancer it brings from the people who worship its success more than the game.
>>1279144 This sounds so corporate I'd be surprised you're not some sort of a paid Mihoyo shill or some sort. Cosplays could only get you somewhere if the game is continuously imprinted in the public's subconscious via advertising. As I said berore, the moment Mihoyo pulls the marketing plug for Genshit, the moment it dies. Co-op can only get you anywhere if it's an optional activity. Genshin's co-op is a simulacra and completely optional. Devs barely even update any content for co-op while they would rather make a new subsection than breathe more life to it. What decides the game's longegivity is social activities in-game, not from outside IRL marketing collabs. Sucks that you have to derail this entire thread unrelated to Genshit just to gloat about Genshit but alas, the nature of a Genshitter is what it does.
>>1279147 >>1279165 hating only solidifies jenshin's cultural and market significance by literally being too big to ignore and triggering (You). not to mention it only reinforces the loyalty and internal identity of people that play jenshin rather than making them go "oh gosh, i should stop playing it because someone on the internet said so!". >>1279218 no need to gaslight me, you're the one that brought up non sequiturs and got correctly refuted
Whats the target audience for this
>>1279218 >Sucks that you have to derail this entire thread unrelated to Genshit just to gloat about Genshit but alas holy niggercope, you was the one who brought it here genshin truly lives rent free in this broken buck's head lmao
>>1279228 You brought Genshit first however. >Genshit hate only reinforces the loyalty of its players It's because you fags act like yesteryear's bronies. A thread unrelated to Genshit and you're here being obnoxious about it. Genshin players are pedestrians at best. The only thing that is propping it up is Mihoyo's marketing department. There's a reason why they spend more on Marketing than developing their games with their actual players in mind.
>>1279261 >gaslighting attempt 2x >when the posts are right there
>>1279261 >ctrl+f "gens" >1 of 24 matches >>1279011 >You brought Genshit first however. LMAOOOOOOOOOO
>>1279274 i think you might actually be retarded
>>1279274 following your niggerlogic you brought "your" unrelated game here too by posting reaction images PWNED!
Boardowner, if you banned everyone that posted in this thread the board would unironicaly improve tenfold.

Alright, I'll rest my case before janny purges me. Varsapura will win, Genshitters will lose. See you gents.
>>1279304 we are just having a fun melty >>1279307 🫡
>>1279234 open world sloppers GTA shitters muh graphics snoyers
>>1277132 >UE5 Dead on arrival
>Wow the new hoyo game looks dope >There's even a thread about it let's check what people are discussing >Bunch of jeets spamming their favorite food (shit) and having a meltdown over genshin sigh Anyway I think it looks cool. Graphics remind me of PS2 era jap games and the theme of shadow org where everyone uses an umbrella because it always rains in the city is cool. The evil force in this setting being called "mindrot" and affecting mostly inorganic things + the weird dreamlike fuckery makes me theorize the game takes place in some kind of matrix like simulation. Gameplay has a lot of Genshin elements but since this is so early in development and they're still recruiting people I imagine they just use Genshin as a template internally for early drafts
>>1281785 i really don't think that's going to be the final gameplay, this seemed more like their UE5 tech demo/proof of concept rather than a ready2ship product. i don't love the aesthetics but i like the seamless engine transition from gameplay to cutscenes, which is a step up from their current unity offerings, and the various physics/VFX/non-euclidean map design
>half the thread became off topic gacha warring Surely you guys can find something better to talk about considering the 30 minutes of gameplay footage?
At first i thought its going to be a non combat game due to the style, would be nice if they relased something slower pace alongside that animal crossing game thats in the works
>>1277132 >on UE5 >even the trailer is stuttering like crazy on probably a threadripper and a 5090 DoA also, idk if I'm being schizophrenic here, but what are the chances that Overfield releases this month with a very similar concept of weaponizing ordinary items like stacks of books and umbrellas (the books attack almost the same in Overfield) and Hoyo also just so happens to come up with the same concept now? Are they both copying from something that came out last year, or is it industrial espionage?
>>1282929 not defending it, but to be h the gameplay is not even remotely novel and the aesthetics are really boring the most surprising thing about that trailer is that they showed panties and have ass jiggle physics idk if you're just unaware somehow, but Hoyo constantly attacks other games in a pretty official capacity all the time, so it's no wonder that any Hoyo-related thread turns into a shitshow again, not defending it, just saying it's to be expected since they pissed off basically everybody else at this point, and as a result hoyo fans are in fight or flight mode 24/7 they even fight among each other when it comes to male vs female characters pretty sure most of them fight about it without even having the games installed anymore
>>1313920 >>1313945 I don't mean to ID hop btw, idk why it does that
>>1278438 Isn’t expedition 33 proof and hoyo devs are also known for optimizing their games though seeing the 30 minutes of gameplay have some issues means it’s going to be a long while before the game is ready to release with how everyone is being fucked in the ass by rising costs for pc parts

>>1313945 >Hoyo constantly attacks other games in a pretty official capacity all the time lmao what?
>>1315092 here's an example I've seen firsthand Peng Bo is the voice actor for Zhong Li and other Hoyo characters, he is also on the board of directors for Hoyoverse and the head of the Chinese version of SAG-AFTRA, it's a union for voice actors, aka a work cartel. A couple years ago in China there was an all out war against a small gacha game called Snowbreak. One reason was it featured sexy female characters in a harem setting, but also it was because they had built a track record of quickly and decisively addressing complaints from the players, and by quickly I mean within 48h at the latest. Essentially, the game came out as hoyo-tier shipshit with safe designs, almost EoS'd, was saved because "devs listened" harder than should be reasonably possible and turned the whole ship around. This really pissed off a bunch of companies whose policy when players are mad is to hole up and ride it out, they got together in a room and discussed this situation, among others (there is an audio recording of it). There's a group of radfems on the CN internet that goes by XianJiaJun, at the time this happened it was 80k members strong and operated by doxing, threatening, sometimes assault, sending packages meant to put people in a panic, impersonation, selling private information, etc. They are designated today as a terrorist organization because of this situation and others. Peng Bo very openly blackmailed every voice actress who worked on Snowbreak to "stop working for erotic games" or they wouldn't get any more work as they'd be "shamed"(it makes more sense in Chinese), and directed the XJJ people on weibo to harass the voice actresses until all but 3 of them quit. This also included other CN VAs under Peng Bo's wing who, under accounts that are technically anonymous but widely known to be them, talked endless and vile shit about these girls. The recasting and re-recording process for all of these characters led to months of delay and it's the reason why Snowbreak has its summer patches in September even today. At no point has Hoyoverse told any of their employees to stop despite the extremely bad PR they were getting as a result of this situation- remember, a company can sue an employee when they reflect negatively on the company, meaning the affair had Hoyoverse's approval. This is just one, but there's also other episodes, for example there was a woman who was previously a Mihoyo intern, got picked up as an intern for Snowbreak later, waited until the first anniversary and threw away a cake that the players had delivered to the developers, bragged on social media and got picked up to work at Hoyoverse immediately after. Or another one where a writer and editor who also work for Hoyoverse waited until the director and producer got their first ever week of vacation since the game came out, and then sabotaged the entire story taking advantage of the lack of supervision, by including N*R and humiliation segments, forcing them to cut their vacation short, bow and apologize in a livestream and work overtime to deliver an entirely new story for the patch. And these are just some of the ones I watched happen firsthand, people from other CN games surely have stories too as the XJJ group was and still is (under different names and smaller groups) extremely prolific in threatening and doxing. I know they did shit like this against Wuthering Waves and PGR. Gachashit is serious business in chinkland, not a lot of people are aware but chiners used to kill each other over arcade territory in the 90s, there's been one incident with 70+ dead. Anyway, maybe too long of a reply to "lmao what?" but whatever, I think this stuff is pretty interesting.
>>1317317 That seem like one guy.
>>1317891 Also, his company is separate from Mihoyo.
>>1317898 And, I can't find him being a board of director in the company.
>>1317891 yeah he's just the most important guy in the CN voice acting sphere lmao >>1317898 wrong, the union is tightly knit with higher ups at Mihoyo and the CCP, it is also a total monopoly and includes every VA management studio >>1317965 he was at the time, might have changed but I don't think so, keep in mind they have like Cognosphere, Mihoyo and Hoyoverse as far as I understand it either way, he's their biggest VA and he generated an insane amount of negative PR for the company, a reprimand and forcing him to apologize would be the very least you would expect they fired the SAGgots when they started flinging shit at them, didn't they? The tacit approval, combined with Hoyoverse rewarding saboteurs with jobs at their company, makes their involvement undeniable even if Peng Bo was a homeless man.
>>1318541 Anon, the board of directors at Mihoyo are the founders themselves who owns the company. And I can't find info on that.
>>1313992 Games devs nowadays suck ass at optimizing. Games like Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon's Dogma 2 ran and look like ass even with the best hardware you can have. They didn't use Unreal Engine, they used their propriety RE Engine.

>>1317317 >>1318541 What kind of schizo shit am I reading? Also none of anything you said has anything to do with hoyo in the first place, let alone in "official capacity".
