here's an example I've seen firsthand
Peng Bo is the voice actor for Zhong Li and other Hoyo characters, he is also on the board of directors for Hoyoverse and the head of the Chinese version of SAG-AFTRA, it's a union for voice actors, aka a work cartel.
A couple years ago in China there was an all out war against a small gacha game called Snowbreak.
One reason was it featured sexy female characters in a harem setting, but also it was because they had built a track record of quickly and decisively addressing complaints from the players, and by quickly I mean within 48h at the latest.
Essentially, the game came out as hoyo-tier shipshit with safe designs, almost EoS'd, was saved because "devs listened" harder than should be reasonably possible and turned the whole ship around.
This really pissed off a bunch of companies whose policy when players are mad is to hole up and ride it out, they got together in a room and discussed this situation, among others (there is an audio recording of it).
There's a group of radfems on the CN internet that goes by XianJiaJun, at the time this happened it was 80k members strong and operated by doxing, threatening, sometimes assault, sending packages meant to put people in a panic, impersonation, selling private information, etc.
They are designated today as a terrorist organization because of this situation and others.
Peng Bo very openly blackmailed every voice actress who worked on Snowbreak to "stop working for erotic games" or they wouldn't get any more work as they'd be "shamed"(it makes more sense in Chinese), and directed the XJJ people on weibo to harass the voice actresses until all but 3 of them quit.
This also included other CN VAs under Peng Bo's wing who, under accounts that are technically anonymous but widely known to be them, talked endless and vile shit about these girls.
The recasting and re-recording process for all of these characters led to months of delay and it's the reason why Snowbreak has its summer patches in September even today.
At no point has Hoyoverse told any of their employees to stop despite the extremely bad PR they were getting as a result of this situation- remember, a company can sue an employee when they reflect negatively on the company, meaning the affair had Hoyoverse's approval.
This is just one, but there's also other episodes, for example there was a woman who was previously a Mihoyo intern, got picked up as an intern for Snowbreak later, waited until the first anniversary and threw away a cake that the players had delivered to the developers, bragged on social media and got picked up to work at Hoyoverse immediately after. Or another one where a writer and editor who also work for Hoyoverse waited until the director and producer got their first ever week of vacation since the game came out, and then sabotaged the entire story taking advantage of the lack of supervision, by including N*R and humiliation segments, forcing them to cut their vacation short, bow and apologize in a livestream and work overtime to deliver an entirely new story for the patch.
And these are just some of the ones I watched happen firsthand, people from other CN games surely have stories too as the XJJ group was and still is (under different names and smaller groups) extremely prolific in threatening and doxing. I know they did shit like this against Wuthering Waves and PGR.
Gachashit is serious business in chinkland, not a lot of people are aware but chiners used to kill each other over arcade territory in the 90s, there's been one incident with 70+ dead.
Anyway, maybe too long of a reply to "lmao what?" but whatever, I think this stuff is pretty interesting.
