I finally got around to reading the Tsukihime remake, and I have to say, Shiki's attempted murder of Arcueid is a lot darker. In the original, Shiki just followed her into an alleyway and then cut her into seventeen pieces. In the new version, Shiki stalks her and trails her until she goes to her apartment. Then Shiki cuts a hole into the side of the apartment, finds her room by scent alone, and then rings the doorbell, slips in the moment she opens the door, and then chops her up. It unironically gives serial killer vibes. I know it was his nanaya persona taking over, but he comes across as way more unhinged in the remake.
