It's oger, I lost my account, I want to start again but I remember the stupidly overturned powercreep per patch and the amount of time needed to catch up. Hell I don't know how big is this game file size anymore since it forces my client to redownload 200gb per patch.

The devs took the criticism of 1.X's story to heart and they decided for whatever reasion the best way to deal with it is to simply just make every new player skip it automatically, even though they'd have no context as to why things are happening and how you get to these new areas to begin with. If you don't care, you can keep going since 2.X is where they really come into their own with the story and setting but you can go back to the 1.X story where they skipped you by going into the Terminal > Story tab in your main menu. The most efficient way to be stronger quicker is to choose one element to main and roll and build your gear around that element since the elemental damage bonus on gear gives the highest return on DPS. Later on once you get plenty more gear and you're satisfied with your loadout, then you can start building for other elements. If you're wondering how Hotta makes money when players are only rolling for 1/4th of banners most of the time, theres always skins and vehicles to also roll for. Also Altered characters are "true limited" (rollable characters will eventually get added to the standard banner over time except for Altered characters) and are considered more general use characters that have synergy with every element.

But you can also revert the world level even after you increase it, so you can fuck around with pretty much any basic weapon and you will have no problem. I always go for 1 element teams for absolutely no reason other than liking it. Keep in mind, that choosing which weapons to use also depends on your armor set's strongest element (so if you have a lot of Flame damage on your armor pieces, you can go with 3 Flame weapons etc.). With the new patch you get Lin for free I believe, so you could use her weapon too and go for Alter or whatever the fuck that "element" is called, she used to be great a billion updates ago. If you want to be good at pvp or if you wanna be actually strong, you will have to ask someone else, I'm sure there are sweatlords in the game still.
