Tower is making me wish you could turn off parry flashes in normal gameplay. I'd rather just not have the flashes on period then keep switching back and forth. Still, going back and actually learning all the attacks is pretty fun. But it's making me question a lot of the animations. What you can and can't parry feels kind of arbitrary. I always thought the yellow flashes were a crutch, but without them on there really isn't any animation indicator or consistency for things you HAVE to dodge. So you either learn the parry animations with flashes on or just take the hits. I know parry was always a basic "feel good" mechanic without much thought put into it, but man. I wonder if they got the idea from Metal Gear Rising, because it had the same yellow = parry, red = dodge mechanic. But there the unblockable attacks looked liked you had no business trying to block them.

It mostly sticks to the rule of "melee = parry assist, projectile/lingering = dodge assist, magic cast = no assist, but indicated with a circle or spinning cross flash", but some attacks aren't parryable when they look like they should be and the actual parry window can be a bit arbitrary even if it's very lenient courtesy of accomodating phonefags. Souls parries are also largely unviable for a similar reason unless you're a sweat because you have to lab out the timings by trial and error (and then also map the parry animation delay into that). That said in the overall flow of combat the flashes work really well because you can focus on executing your characters' gameplay while parries come naturally as a cue to swap

Imagine you pull for an agent, you luckshit an S-rank, but immediately after Hoyo servers shit themself for one reason or another, everything gets rolled back 5 seconds, you lose your S-rank, and on your repeat roll you just get a B-rank W-Engine. Shit like that gets companies burnt down, so it's better avoid it if possible. But that also doesn't mean there aren't other options. You could have individual seeds for each banner group easily. You could have still have the time seed, just a less precise one - only using dates for example. Always sticking to just a single seed makes it hypothetically possible to infer the algorithm used for number generation, which in turns opens up a possibility of predicting the results of future pulls if the seed is somehow leaked. I'd imagine a company like Hoyo would be pretty paranoid about either, so they'd take the first few fundamental but very simple steps to avoid those.
