So Galbrena's Afterflame works kind of like Zani's Blaze where is amps her transformation state. But rather than needing a debuff, Galbrena wants teammates to cast echo skills of different names. Her max Afterflame stacks are 40, and she gains 8 per unique echo skill. Although Galbrena has two attacks pre-transformation that do echo skill damage, they
do not count as echo skill casts. So Galbrena herself can only provide herself with 8 stacks of Afterflame from her own equipped echo skill.
In a normal team (e.g. Galbrena/Morefi/SK) she can only gain a total of 24 Afterflame stacks, one for each echo skill. So she is missing out on almost half the Fusion damage buff that Afterflame conversion provides. No numbers are given yet, but if Afterflame has high scaling then this will be a significant damage drop-off.
Qiuyuan, if I am reading this correctly, has 3 separate attacks that are all considered Echo Skill casts. These are the three stages of his Inkverse of spirit: To Teach, To Save, and To Sacrifice. So including his own echo skill cast, Qiuyuan provides Galbrena with a whopping 32 stacks of Afterflame just by himself. Galbrena + Qiuyuan already provides enough echo skill casts to get max stacks of Afterflame.
Now with a Cantarella/Phrolova/Galbrena team, Galbrena can gain full stacks of Afterflame as well, assuming you start the rotation with Cantarella. However, it is worth mentioning again here that none of Phrolova's echo skill damage is considered an echo skill cast, so Galbrena can only trigger Hecate's enhanced attack a single time. On the other hand, Qiuyuan can trigger Hecate 4 times, the most of any character so far, making Cantarella/Phrolova/Qiuyuan much more synergistic.
Overall pretty meh design for Galbrena. It is not as bad a Zani's Blaze mechanic, but it is definitely a bummer. And intentionally wording Galbrena's attacks to make them not work with Phrolova will make this the second patch in a row where a heavy attacker main dps has artificial anti-synergy with Phrolova built into their design. This is not intuitive at all just like with Augusta deleting Hecate with her ult. I imagine this will surprise some players that don't read these needlessly obtuse descriptions and will just assume Galbrena would trigger Hecate since she does echo skill damage.
