Even when a main story quest explicitly references one (which they've only done once so far at least, one of the Albedo ones) It's a shame because there are some really great stories and attention given to characters that otherwise don't get as much focus in those events. Although I think they realise that now and made this year's summer event a permanent quest that you can still do even now, so there's hope that they improve this

People that come back after a long time of not playing will just get overwhelmed by the massive backlog of quests that they probably have. They only just recently made focused experience a thing too. So a lot of times people would have to try and figure out which quests were hogging up a specific NPC. Then again, I know people who pretty much quit the game who will log in just to roll for a character (and then just quit again). I wish they'd do something like what HSR does with their events. Limited time rewards, but the event is still playable after that time ends.
