I haven't been on here in months, since Gamergate was big. Gamergate recently had it's seconnd anniversary, I want to know what you think it achieved. Bonus points if it's a specific, measurable thing. Did it stop anyone from doing anything bad? Did it make things better? For who? Be specific please etc. etc. etc.
It was a huge push back against SJW shit, some many argue it was the biggest cultural war for years. Developer Brad Wardell said SJWs no longer have the power they had in gaming in this interview: http://thegg.net/interviews/brad-wardell-interview-gamergate-2nd-year-special-part-2/ Made sites use ethics although I doubt that they follow them. More ethical sites are much more popular than they were. Eternal butthurt from SJW and even cuckchan. Making retards shoot themselves in the foot like Randy Pitchford. It changed from a "consumer revolt" into a community, for better or worse I don't really know, I personally like the sub-community of GG game devs that sprung up. Faggots on the left say GG is now made up of alt-right and faggots on the right say it's cucked.
>>327657 >Randy Pitchford Who?
>>327710 Gearbox CEO. Who else would hire Anthony Burch?
>>327649 >Did it stop anyone from doing anything bad? So you want specific details of hypothetical bad incidents that I believe did not happen because gamergate exists? You do realize that is a fucking bizarre request? I think the biggest achievement of gamergate is that all the websites that hated the video game playing public in general were forced to admit that they hated their own audience who paid their bills. Some tried to reform, other closed or whatever but the key thing is they had been found out.
>>327721 Activist movements generally try to stop more powerful groups from business as usual, going ahead with whatever fucked up plans they have. See: Vietnam War protests, Keystone XL pipeline protests, among others. The ones I mentioned are directed at government but they could just as easily be directed at corporations or particularly powerful people. While I agree that thinking of hypothetical situations can be not too useful, when there are clear results I think it speaks for itself.
