Something's wrong with my routine or my body. I've been lifting for more than a year now, but i haven't seen the same results as apparently expected - 1-2 lbs of muscle every month and lifts going up rather fast.
I started with starting strength a little less than a year ago. By now i should be benching like 100kg? squatting 150? something. I stopped squatting because 1) it left me with no energy to do the rest of the exercises in that workout and 2) the bench and the press stalled hard. I decided to resume it once i get the other lifts up to speed.
Going to swallow my pride and tell you the numbers. I stopped when i could squat 90kg total (total meaning including the bar). I can OHP 50kg total. and can bench 74kg total, all for 3 sets 5 reps. I don't do deadlifts or cleans because "would start them once i'm good at the other lifts" which seems to be never. I got sick 2 weeks ago, and completely stopped eating chicken (~250g on the scale), protein powder (only some days), milk (1 liter), and creatine, all of which i used to have daily, to get some ~150g of protein. Because it was a stomach thing, I lost appetite and had no more than one small meal each day. I thought all of this would have shaved off tens of kgs from my lifts.
Guess what? I went to the gym yesterday and did nearly the same lifts as i could before falling sick. Weighed myself and seems i lost 2 kgs.
This workout was a 74kg bench press, 3 sets of 5 reps but i missed a couple on the last set.
Which is funny as hell because i thought my lifts going up was just because of the creatine and that i didn't gain muscle or strength. Now I just don't know what to think. Did the creatine not work, or is 2 weeks too little to let it wash out of the system? I do think i've deflated visibly.
And what the hell is wrong with my workout and diet? I've put a lot of effort into this and this is just disappointing. Thought i'd be hitting 1/2/3/4 at the end of the year - seems not.
I don't want to tell you my height and weight, but my BMI is 29. I did gain weight over the period of one year, like 25kg, my bf% is probably 30% to 35%. If you have stayed with me till now, thank you. If you can think of any mistakes i'm making in all of this, please PLEASE tell me.
