Hey linguistic brothers, We're announcing a revamped Infinity Cup this year! Come join us over at https://anon.cafe/icup/ and make your own team!
What would our players even be? (Apart from YOUCANT in the goal obviously)
(535.89 KB 1200x938 langlogo.jpg)

>>198 Don't know but had a shot at a logo if we end up joining.
Perhaps Big Muzzy and that green owl
>>199 I think that looks superb.
>>199 >>201 Might need some color though
(110.71 KB 480x600 ClipboardImage.png)

GK: YOU CAN'T LB: Esperanto CB: Çekoslovakyalılaştıramadıklarımızdanmışsınız RB: Moonrunes DMF: Do not want DMF: My hovercraft is full of eels! LMF: Ooga Booga CMF: LangFocus RMF: Eliezer Ben‑Yehuda CF: Big Muzzy SS: Duo Bench: William Shakespeare, Noam Chomsky Any more suggestions?
>>224 Wouldn't it need rigging?
(92.48 KB 2048x2048 langkit2.png)

(133.13 KB 2048x2048 langgkkit.png)

(76.96 KB 2048x2048 langkit1.png)

And some suggestions for kits >>225 I don't know what's required for them to work, but it seems there are many different versions for that model, I'm sure we'll find a suitable one.
Anthem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8OzxmPKgRE (or an alternate version, couldn't find a better one right now)
>>227 nvm this one is better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTUfg9gbRSE&t=17s That one could be our goal horn though
>>223 Bench players >William Shakespeare >Entero Somewhere Elso >Noam Chomsky >Gustav Langenscheidt >Mi papa tiene 47 anos >What language are you learning? >我是外国人 >Ellen Baker (might deserve a spot on the main team) >La plume de ma tante
>>223 >>229 Swap Ellen Baker and Eliezer Ben-Yehuda on the team
>>230 can do
Really solid selection.
>>197 Taken from the /icup/ thread: >>229 The remaining players could be >Grumio est in culina (latin) >SPICIE MEATBALLA (Italian) >neuken in de keuken (bad words general) On that note, shouldn't YOU CAN'T be the captain, rather than the keeper? I'd rather put Langfocus on that spot and her as a Gold CMF.
>>236 YOU CAN'T has to be the goalie, she fits the role perfectly. I thought of Big Muzzy and Duo as gold and silver respectively, and maybe our wingers as bronze players.
>>226 I think you should clarify which kit is which on the thread
>>238 check filenames
>>237 Seems like a good idea, sure.
>>236 Is there a rule that says the keeper can't be captain?
>>241 Yes there is, because all keepers have to be the same IIRC
>>225 Not if it only replaces the head I think
>>199 >>203 Maybe give the shield the look of the Rosetta Stone.
>>245 That's a cool idea, can you do it?

Congratulations /lang/, your board is now officially entered into the 6th Infinity Cup, a competition dedicated to crowning the divegrass champion of the webring! The defending champion and host for this Cup is /kind/, who defeated /co/ in the final, via a nailbiting penalty shootout. We will be following a similar tournament structure this Cup, with a Group Stage, guaranteeing your board at least 3 games, and a final Knockout Stage to determine the sole champion. The tentative schedule for the tournament is as follows: >July 31 Second Deadline, for tactics and Player Cards (explained below) >August 1st Draw Stream on the Infinity Cup Cytube, determining which teams your board will face in the Group Stage >August 7th, 8th, 9th First, second, and third Day of competition >August 14th, 15th, 16th Fourth, fifth, sixth day of competition, completion of Group Stage >August 22nd First day of Knockout Stage >August 23rd Final day of Knockout Stage, and the champion is crowned So what's the deal with this second deadline? This is for the strategy your team will run during the games, and it's the alternative to live managing. It's a simple text document that the rigger follows during the game that outlines offensive and defensive tactics, as well as substitutes. As for Player Cards, these are the special abilities your players will carry into the game. >Alright, I think I can handle that Perfect. The page explaining Team Strategies and how to select them is here: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Team_Strategies And the page for Player Cards that does the same is here: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Player_Cards You can send your strategies and player cards to me (SKF@8chan.co or SKF@cock.li) until July 31st, which gives me ample time to actually put them into the game. If you have any trouble with this as well, reach out. I've tried to make those two pages as accessible as possible, but I know there's still going to be issues for those putting it together. >I want to help but not do that Not a problem. Most teams don't have their roster pages filled out, and it's likely yours is one of them. Head to the wiki and fill in your team's roster page with images and brief profiles on your players. It really helps the commentators with their shitposts in-game. (Exemplar roster pages: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//ita//Roster http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//loomis//Roster http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//otter//Roster) We're always looking for 3D models of players on teams, so if you happen to know how to use Blender or have access to MMDs or similar 3D models, pass them along and we'll work on getting them into PES. We're also opening up submissions for adboards for this Cup, the field advertisements the scroll through during play. To submit them, simply post in your respective thread on /icup/, the only requirement is that the images be scaleable to 512x64, as that's the dimensions that PES needs for them to work. And as always, there's also room for any OC you guys want to put together for the tournament. t. SKF
>>253 Uh okay so... we need some strats... how do we win?
>>254 Technically speaking, we already have medals for players, but the player cards are probably gonna be trickier to pin down.
>>256 >>254 We have a 3-5-2 formation, which means a strong midfield and a relatively weak backline. On the offensive side, our LMF and RMF are both medal players so it would make sense to choose the wings as attack vectors. Choosing a counter-attack/long pass strategy is risky but the reward can make it worth it. It would seem suited to our team since our wings are strong. Plus it seems that only few teams are using it so it would be a nice change. And since we're already living dangerously, a flexible formation would be fitting. Accordingly, we'll use a high support range. Then on the defensive side, since we have a very populated midfield it'd be good to have some midfielders drop back and help out the defence if necessary, rather than pushing further up the field (which we can leave to our strikers). We'll therefore choose All-out Defence which means players will drop back and defend our half when possession is lost. It can greatly help our Counter-Attack strategy as well since the other team can push forward in numbers leaving themselves open to surprises in the back if you know what i mean. This is also much more kind to our player's stamina compared to Frontline Pressure. For Containment Area we'll choose Middle since we have the numbers to make it that way. And I guess choosing an Aggressive style in defending might help us gain possession more easily, but it might also wear us out faster. Still, it sounds like a good option to me. Then we'll choose a low setting for our defensive line and a medium setting on compactness. Now in accordance with all the above, in terms of advanced tactics, let's go for: Wing Rotation, Centring Targets, Deep Defensive Line, Counter Target. TL;DR: Attacking Instructions Attacking Styles: Counter Attack Build Up: Long Pass Attacking Area: Wide Positioning: Flexible Support Range: 8 Defensive Instructions Defensive Styles: All-out Defence Containment: Middle Pressuring: Aggressive Defensive Line: 2 Compactness: 6 Advanced Instructions Attack 1: Wing Rotation Attack 2: Centring Targets Defence 1: Deep Defensive Line Defence 2: Counter Target
As for player cards/styles, let's look at what we want each of our pleayers to do. Let's start by choosing a fitting style for each position. CF: Fox in the Box SS: Dummy Runner RMF: Hole Player LMF: Hole Player CMF: Classic No. 10 DMF: The Destroyer or Anchor Man (one each?) RB: Defensive Fullback LB: Defensive Fullback CB: The Instigator GK: Offensive GK Regarding cards, the Center Forward should be good at: Heading, Acrobatic Finishing, First Time Shot, Knuckle Shot, Mazing Run, Speeding Bullet. For the Second Striker, let's choose Fighting Spirit, Track Back, Weighted Pass and One Touch Pass. LWF and RWF: Should have Early Cross, Weighted Pass, Pinpoint Crossing. CMF: Not sure about this one, perhaps Low Lofted Pass and Rabona. All defending players: Acrobatic Clear, Long Ball Expert.
Maybe somebody could test it out or see if you can come up with something better.
Okay I tested a few times, here's what happened: vs. /co/: 3-2 Win vs. /a/: 4-3 Win vs. /christian/: 1-1 Draw vs. /yuri/: 0-2 Loss Might have to do more testing later. It seems our offensive midfielders tire most quickly, so it'll probably be a good idea to sub them off.

Hey /lang/, I'll be running a test stream this Saturday the 18th on https://cytu.be/r/8cup. The whole thing kicks off at 3 EDT, 2CST, 19:00 UTC. We'll be playing some friendlies, having a bit of banter, and just shitposting on our merry ways. Tune in!
>>264 Actual link not messed up by punctuation: https://cytu.be/r/8cup >>260 >>259 >>258 >>257 This is some great work!

Thank you to all who tuned in to the /test/ stream today. If you missed it, the matches will be up on the archive soon (https://pt.neko.bar/video-channels/icuparchive/video-playlists). We are officially two weeks away from the Group Draw to see who your team will compete against in the first stage of the Cup. If your team does not have their tactics sorted out yet, feel free to chip in by working on Team Strategies (http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Team_Strategies) or Player Cards (http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Player_Cards). I know this is complicated, so swing by your thread on /icup/ and I can answer any questions you might have. The deadline is July 31st. If you're not tactically inclined, you can still help out by creating adboards specific to your board. Adboards, like /japan/'s here, pic #2 related, are the little signs that cycle through on the sidelines during games. Post a board-related ad as a PNG in the same dimensions as /japan/'s and I'll be able to use it during the Cup. Any other OC for your team or roster you'd like to contribute is always appreciated as well.
(183.44 KB 1080x990 de haan is dood.jpg)

Oh yeah, we won against /fascist/.
Just a reminder you have less than a week to finish up tactics and player cards. If you are having any difficulties or are worried no one will step up, leave a post here or in your thread on /icup/. I have an anon on standby willing to put something together for teams who need help. If you're a team who has participated in a previous Cup and you have not explicitly let me know you're sticking with your strats from last time, do so ASAP, as it cuts down on the work I'll have to do in the week after the Draw Stream. If you've already done so, kick back, take it easy and wait for the draw stream. Draw Stream is August 1st, 2PM PDT, 4PM CDT, 5PM EDT, 21:00 UTC. Mark that calendar. As well, we're still accepting adboards for use during the tournament, visit the dedicated adboard thread on /icup/ and post them there.
Just under an hour away, Draw Stream, be there! https://cytu.be/r/8cup

The Draw Stream is complete, and with only minor technical difficulties! You guys will play in Group G with /christian/, /animu/, and /fascist/! I'll be by again later with official game times for your board.

I came up with a new logo and a new strategy >>>/icup/1650
>>350 Lookin' good!
>>350 I really like that logo. What's our new strategy? I didn't think our was a bad one, we got a game in, didn't we?
>>360 Our new strategy is the opposite of the old one. We did win one game narrowly, but honestly it wasn't good enough.
I don't like this ooga booga player. Just doesn't really fit in, it's more of a /pol/ character.
>>382 I like him to be honest. Wouldn't know how else to include an African language, and besides, it's hardly offensive compared to proper /pol/ stuff.
(814.30 KB 1474x7572 wBQ2tFG.jpeg)

(18.04 KB 503x535 new european face.png)

>>382 >>386 You both are ignoring its origin. While it's /pol/ related, it's meant to be a reference to this. >>361 I think we need to rectify that post before SKF fucks up our formation. Also should Loomis have a special position or should we remove that role? I don't think it helped him any.
>>387 huh, what's this about Loomis?

Hello /lang/, I arrive at your humble board to officially announce the GCUP! The GCUP will be an exhibition tournament between boards of the webring that represent nations of the world, and will be contested under usual ICUP rules. In addition, we'll also be hosting friendlies for non-national boards/teams as part of the festivites. Friendlies can be played under normal rules, or, if you choose, under alternate (meme) rulesets that will be decided closer to the Cup's kickoff. If you would like to participate, head on over to the pinned thread at our board on Cafe. The event is set to begin February 13th, 2021. Look forward to having you there!
(1.19 MB 1020x1320 GCUPFriendlies.jpg)

The GCUP Friendlies are set! Teams and gimmicks were drawn at random; you will be playing /pol/ in the sixth friendly of the tournament. Start time can be found here: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=2021-02-20T19:30:00 We'll be showing these matches on the 8cup cytube as usual. Tune in!
We're on in just over an hour! Bonŝancon!
