Indie /mon/ Games Anonymous 04/23/2025 (Wed) 15:42:30 No. 54
Lots of indie /mon/ games have been releasing these past few years. What ones have you played? What ones would you recommend? What upcoming ones are you looking forward to?
>>54 I wanted to try TemTem but Crema is such a shitty developer that i never got into it, sad because the game looked good, is such a karma thing Palworld made everyone forget about them
>>54 i tried coromon and it was super fucking boring and generic don't know if it gets better but i got a couple titans in and gave up on it monster sanctuary was super good though, love that game

>>57 >i tried coromon and it was super fucking boring and generic That's disappointing, I was impressed by its spritework.
Has someone here tried Nexomon Saga? It is any good? I have seen many positive reviews about it, and seems to be the best indie alternative of Pokémon right now beside Palworld (and seems they are going that route with Nexomon 3, also some nexomons are sexo) Do you think is worth to give it a shot?
>>89 I played Nexomon Extinction for a few hours and thought it was okay. I'm personally not a big fan of the 1 vs 1 battle system so many indies copy from Pokemon.

>>103 Thanks! I think i go with Nexomon 1 and then wait for 3
>>54 >Recommend Siralim Ultimate is, in fact, the ultimate autism /mon/ game. Really great if you enjoy teambuilding. It lost a bit of its appeal to me once I more or less perfected an insta-kill everything team, but it was a fun 50+ hour ride there. You can easily get much more time out of it if you experiment more. >Kinda recommend Anode Heart hit a lot of good notes for me, from how the plot/world is constructed, to character design, the card minigame, some v-pet esque mechanics with resetting your mons to grow them stronger. Unfortunately, the combat is ass. I found myself mostly just mashing out the same few attacks without really thinking. The recoil mechanic punishing using the same move repeatedly is a lazy (and ineffective) way to try and prevent this style of play. Just really boring, didn't feel mechanically deep. >Don't recommend Every /mon/ game that has "mon" in the name.
Enjoyed Cassette Beasts much more than I expected, hoping to see more from the franchise. The way skill stickers work, are reusable and can be modified gives you plenty of freedom with how you build your team, and there's ample postgame content + multiplayer to extend your playtime. Battles are mostly 2v2 and let you fuse into a stronger form with a full gauge, until you get damaged out of it or cancel the fusion. You're able to catch rare palette swapped variants of monsters for every element type in the game, with type-native skills the base monster can't normally use. Map traversal is open and intuitive, you become very mobile as you unlock certain abilities and can mess around with stacking objects/physics abuse to reach places. The story's passable, characters charming, many good designs and a well composed soundtrack that stands on its own.
You getting anything from the Creature Collector Fest sale?
>>177 Yep, i got Nexomon 2 (90% is always a good deal), but i also want to share other games that caught my attention from this festival It was a pleasure to see some with monster girls and some NSFW (even one with both) I think we are about to see the born of "Palworld-like" genre cause damn these are inspired a lot by it Now more specific >Amikin Has some cool designs and mechanics like fusion but it seems is going to be filled with micro transactions >Myth Caller Doom-like, great artstyle >The Neroe Inspired by zelda and TBOI >Stardust Yu Gi Oh and Pokemon fused >Dokimon Pokemon-clone between GBC and GBA era. Looks good. There is also a Lo fi mon game but idk if is actually good desu And about discounts Nexomon has 50%, World of FF has 60%, Cult of the Lamb has 50% (no DLC), Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition has 90% and Digimon World has 84% I like the genre mixes, there should be a romance VN with mons (Hopefully the Palworld one is good at that)
The Steam Summer Sale is happening and tons of /mon/ games are on sale.
I bought Anode Heart on sale. I haven't started it yet though.
