Post Your Car Thread: "Saabfag Endures" Edition Driver 06/06/2017 (Tue) 02:52:05 Id: b93199 No. 13371
Another post your car thread because I want to see who is still here. Bikefags are welcome to post as well. Post your car, what you've done to it, and what you are planning to do to it. Picked up the new 900 on Friday and immediately drove it almost 200 miles over the weekend. It performs perfectly. The only issue is the exhaust is quiet as fuck - it sounds like a stock Corolla… All I can hear is intake… I'll fix that come fall and a real job.

I'm getting so close I can taste it. I see a fellow man of taste in an 83 Z28 here

Nothing special, wondering what exactly I can do with it.

This was my car at one point. >what it is 1987 Honda Accord LXi. >what I did to it Coilovers, anti-sway bars, brake upgrade, exhaust, camshaft, programmable ECU, oil cooler, sticky tires. Was a super sweet little autocrosser. >what I plan to do to it Was sadly written off a few years ago. Saving my shekels for another one.
>>15768 >SOHC on the side >Notec on the side Hey, kudos to you for keeping it normal. Notec > Vtec. :^) Looks very rust free and has no plate on the front, so i assume it's somewhere in Burgerland? That is one legit sweet, sweet car. Why so many foglights though?
>>15769 Thanks man. I miss the absolute fuck out of it. >burgerland Yes. >fog lights The ones above the actual foglights are just turn signals.

Here's my 85 celica gt. My first car. She might not be the fastest but she's always fun to drive
>>15787 I can't belive it is not CGI… oh wait, it is. Look at the shadows.
>>15788 Look at the lower corner near the tire you can see the dent

Was a good night for a drive
>>15839 You're the Alaska guy right? I remember your car from another thread. What I'd do to live up there.
>>15827 >>15839 Sweet ride.
>>15841 I dunno, man. It sucks to need 2 cars, one for summer and keeping shiny and one to give to the salty roads in winter. I'm glad i got 2 cars, now i can annualy fix the rust on my winter car while enjoying the summer car, which i will keep polishing in winter. I still have no garage, so both cars stay outdoors at winter anyway
>>15846 I almost didn't think you bothered with salt up there. I've read pretty much everyone has a car or truck with AWD for the old months
>>15847 cold*
They don't salt roads in Alaska, it wouldn't do anything/would make roads worse with the cold snaps that happen. Next goal for the Camaro: building a 350 sbc. Current scheme is to rework the crossfire injection but I've got to do more research first
>>15851 I didn't think so. I thought the other guy was you. I didn't look at the ID. I don't care how much it snows or how cold it is. I'd love to move there. It's been a dream of mine. Is it true most people drive manual for better control of their car in the cold months?
>>15858 Not from what I can tell, manual is going the way of the dinosaur on everything but muscle/sports cars and commercial trucks here too. If you've invested time into a trade, its a good state to be. Also the gun laws are great. Fuck Anchorage though, Palmer is where it's at.

She's coming together boys. Still got a lot to do
>>15859 I was looking into Fairbanks.
>>15872 Fairbanks is an outright shithole. Lots of druggies, even more road rage. -50 in Winter, 100 in summer. Don't do that to your car.

>>15877 >Palmer Small town life is the best life I take it? Works for me. I have a few years before I can move my life there, so I need to look into a lot. I happen to work a trade job so that might help me even if I needed to drive to Anchorage. >Don't do that to your car. More like don't do that to myself too

>>13371 Clean as hell 1985 Mercury Cougar. All original seats, carpets, pretty much all interior, exterior paint and trim. But; the gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump and gauge, vacuum lines, engine, brakes, and tires are brand new. In January second gear went out and I'm struggling to find a way to replace it without getting a brand new tranny. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
>>15885 if one gear went, for consistencies' sake replace em all. so its either rebuild or replace. If it's a slushbox, those utilize arcane magicks from the machine gods to continue functioning: I suggest one of the priests at a transmission shop to perform the rites. I haven't tried to do anything to a manual yet.
>>15886 Unfortunately it's an automatic
>>15885 Rebuilding an auto can be done by the DIYer, just be aware that it's quite difficult. Can you provide more details as to what the problem is? Also, when was the last time you checked the trans fluid level? Fun fact: The Cougar of that generation is based on Ford's Fox platform, same as the third-gen Mustang. If you have the I4 or V6 version, you could find an old 302 Windsor V8 and it would literally bolt right in.
>>15890 Fluids are fine and it originally had the v8 302 LS engine but in 2016 I dropped a brand new 302 boss coyote engine into it. But in January I was out on a cruise, stopped at a stoplight and when it was my turn to go I noticed the rpms when straight to 8k but won't shift into second gear. I limped it back home and has been stuck ever since. I hope this is what you meant
>>15890 Would it make more sense / be more cost effective to just go out and replace the entire tranny?
>>15892 Probably. Or you could take it apart, find the exact gear or sets of gears that are malfuncioning and order new ones. I know there are shops that do this sort of thing.
>>15891 (Same as 365009 in case it changes) My first inclination is to say your throttle valve cable is either stretched out or snapped. Definitely a lot cheaper to replace a cable than an entire transmission, so I'd look into that before diving into the other stuff.
>>15893 Yeah well all the tranny shops in Columbus are on the east side. And in that part of town, the violence has gotten so bad you could fence it off and call it a zoo. It's just safer to do it yourself. Like 5-6 nogs get shot every day cause gang violence. Somali Integration my ass, maybe into jail but they're not for white and normal society.
>>15894 I gotta check that out, I'll give you an update in a bit.
>>15894 Update: cable is fine but the shifting fork is bent and second gear is stripped. Fuck
>>15897 Time for a manual swap?
