2017 Will be the Best Year EVER Anonymous 12/31/2016 (Sat) 17:27:15 Id: ca435e No. 11904
For car lovers all around the world. > ITT post your ride > where u live > what you plan on doing to your ride in 2017

>>11904 I don't know how good the cars are gonna be in 2017; I want to see more back-to-basics cars (i.e. no internet-connected hackable death boxes with fly-by-wire pedals). I also wanna see more hot hatches & less SUVs.
>>11910 is that dog for fucking real? So laid back. Just an honest days pay for an honest days work.
>>11910 Everything you want ( as well as myself) is never coming back. I came to terms with this. It's time you did too. I hope to get an MX5 NA this year. I do feel a bit bad ditching my current car. she's about to hit 100k and still going strong. I've had her for almost 8 years. Even if she's a FWD auto. I have a lot of memories in that car.

>>11904 > ITT post your ride pic related > where u live Oregon, USA > what you plan on doing to your ride in 2017 Transmission needs work. Check engine light came on a couple weeks ago and I think there is something up with the throttle. I'd like to change the spark plugs. My air intake was fucked with by a PO and I'd like to fix it/finish the mod I think he was trying to do. Fog lights and interior lights don't work, I'm pretty sure it's just the fuses but I don't know which ones to change because the map in the fusebox is fucked, so I need to find a map to do that. Passenger fender is fucked but I probably won't be able to get more than quote on that fix, since it's purely cosmetic (now it is anyway, the suspension strut was fucked from the impact) and the transmission is much more important. I wanted to get yellow bulbs for head and fog lights but it turns out those are illegal in Oregon… The boost pressure control valve doesn't work quite right but it doesn't affect normal driving so that's further down the list. >>11910 >>11931 The automotive golden age that we all love was weakened in the 90s and struggled to persevere until it was taken out back and beaten to death in 2007. Cars have only gotten closer and closer to being literal bubbles on wheels since then and will continue to do so. Even supercars and motorsports are getting cucked by safety and emissions regulations.
>>11937 It's pretty sad. As far as new cars go, I only like about 4-6 of them. Even if the EPA was given less power on what what they're doing to cars people don't care about looks. People really think a computer controlled car is a good idea. Soon getting a car with a stick will be even harder too. And since nothing lasts anymore you'll need a new car every 10 years. My cars been kicking for 22 years. My friends Gran National's been kicking for 30 something years. Us both having a V6 will be a thing of the past and a V8 will be what cars used to have. I know I'm being rather dark about it and I hope I'm wrong, but I don't like the way things are going. Maybe Trump can unfuck the EPA, I don't know.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3cFfM3r510 toy, 85 rx7 swapping a manual trans is my main goal, find vibration issue that seems to come and go, fix oil pan leak, delete cat, check OMP, replace all fluids, needs fresh pads all around/brake service, all new bushings/mounts, fix carb and choke cable slack, get AC working, fix blower fan dial, install electric fan as it likes to heat up when it's not moving, clean up the small rust spots. >>11937 > Even supercars and motorsports are getting cucked by safety and emissions regulations I agree but it's also paving the way for interesting new tech that's improving emissions (4:26-5:32) while adding power. there's a lot of new valve related stuff going on right now, but I'm mostly excited to see freevalve type of system to come into the OEM and aftermarket. I wouldn't be surprised if it hit diesels first, large companies are always trying to find ways to save money on transport costs.
>>11942 >video Koenigsegg does amazing stuff, I too can't wait for their tech to make it into mainstream manufacturing. It will take a major shift in government though to be able to fully take advantage of new tech that is actually beneficial. I wouldn't buy a bubble even if it had a freevalve engine. I'm not even that concerned about emission regulations, because emission reduction comes hand in hand with increased fuel efficiency as far as I've observed. It's safety standards that do the worst to the driving experience. I guess in 20 years I'll be swapping a freevalve engine into a 90s Nissan.
>>11937 BO drives jerry seinfelds car
>>11949 lol really? Got pics? All I can find is stuff about his Porsches.
>>11944 That was my idea when I saw that freevalve video, swap one of those tiny engines into an aw11 and get easy 200+ hp

>>11951 yeah it was part of the plot, jerry had a saab and eventually kramer burned it, so he got another one cuz he loved it so much.
>>11991 That's great.
>>11991 >1st pic What the hell is that Volkswagen thing?
(98.22 KB 700x525 derby.jpg)

>>12000 (chek'd) It looks like a Golf but none of the Golf's had square/rectangular headlights. My best guess: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Derby
>>11991 It's probably the Derby like >>12001 said. The Rabbit had square headlights for a while, but it also has orange indicators on the wides.

>>12000 >>12001 >>12002 On second thought, it could be a Golf. I found this while browsing craigslist.
>>12023 That's a Golf with strapped on front from Jetta. Yes, they fit perfectly together. Takes only a welder and saw. Some owners love their golfs so much, they get second chance after an accident.

>your ride Pic related > where u live Montana, USA > what you plan on doing to your ride in 2017? 33's and some interior shit, not sure what yet.
>>12058 >tfw there will never be an anime about personified cars & trucks, like a Japanese "Cars" >tfw you'll never see the adventures of Nii-San and his older brother, Dat-San
>>11937 >Weakened in the 90's I think 90's Japanese cars are amazing
>>12103 They are, but they are different from 80s cars due to increased safety regulations, which snowballed into what we have now.
>Someone I know borrows my 2000 Civic >They total it >As an apology they give me their old '98 Lexus LS400 for free Pretty good year so far tbh

>mk3 gti vr6 >some place in new York >finally getting new lights, fully detailing the inside and outside, new crankshaft pulley/belt, full timing chain and guide rail replacement, slotted rotors/wider wheel spacers in front, new clutch kit with reinforced clutch fork and lightweight flywheel, possibly lighter front seats and rear sway bar. Hopefully I'll be able to track it at some point in the summer.
>>12108 >3rd series Golf >vr6 You lucky man
>>12109 Once I get past the Jesus Christ what's wrong this time and how do I fix phase of it I'll consider myself truly lucky
>>12108 >VR6 good taste >4th gen lights and brand logo off bad taste I don't know what to think, but overall, this is good.
>>12110 Bought a nugget? Usually they are pretty sturdy, unless yours has ECU troubles.
>>12107 Damn, that's quite a tradeoff. You're a lucky man. not that I don't feel bad for the Civic or anything; It did nothing wrong.
>>12113 same car tony drove in first episode of sopranos by chance?
>>12107 how is it? seems like a great comfy DD
>>12111 I get not liking the lights (previous owner put those in along with all the cosmetic stuff of the car amd I kinda like it) but why not the debadged grill? Gotta optimize that airflow somehow
>>12118 It looks like some low-grade tuner did this because it´s an easy modification of the car… Where I live, only the worst kind of peope do that (so my head doesn't like it).
>>12115 Everything just feels so damn smooth. This thing glides to 60 in about 6 seconds it's an incredible trade-in from my Civic and I can easily see myself using this guy for another 10 years or more if I keep maintenance up. The build quality on everything is rock solid and the seats are comfy as fuck. I wish I can pictures on me

>>12772 I didn't know that was a thing, but >5,000 made >no USDM version It may as well not exist here.
