https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyZQUEMZlCU >>12006 >You guys listen to music right? Yes but my car's sound system is non-functional. I think it's just that the head unit is disconnected from the speaker system but I don't have the tools to remove the head unit so it's stayed that way since I got the car. In the mean time I've been using a bluetooth speaker through a cable because the bluetooth functionality on my phone's version of cyanogenmod doesn't agree with the speakers shitty proprietary connection >android head unit Those are stupid. Just plug your phone/DAP into the head unit or use a cassette adapter or a bluetooth radio thing. Other functions those head units have, like navigation, are easily fulfilled by other, non-dash-integrated hardware. You shouldn't be on the phone while you are driving. I'm suggesting that this also be a driving music thread. Synthwave = drivewave. I'll post some.

>>12008 If you need pic related, they're easy to fashion out of a wire coat hanger. not /o/ but you might want to switch ROMs too, even FOSS ROMs should be 100% compatible with all Bluetooth protocols
>>12018 That's precisely what I need. Maybe I'll try it out. It's more that the speaker has proprietary software that probably needs something that my ROM doesn't have. There is a pairing app but even with that it doesn't connect. Other bluetooth devices work fine though.
>>12008 >android head unit didn't know that was a thing, it looks kinda useful but seeing jewgle does what it does it's locking into google shit. if I could run it like I do my phone with no gapps and a different map I'd be mildly interested but, the voice commands make me doubt it
>>12020 Actually, a lot of the cheapy Chinese head units just run pure Android 4.4 or 5.1. I think there's a section on the XDA forums that lists some of the ones that can be flashed, rooted, etc. A good phone mount is cheaper still, though.
Is "acoustic glass" a fucking meme? Luxury cars have it as an option and its standard on yachts like s-class and 7 series, etc…thoughts?
>>12024 The claim is that it reduces outside noise, but I doubt it can do much. It won't do shit if the suspension and other relevant noise-deadening parts are shitty, either.
>>12021 might look into that. I'm sure having a plain old dedicated tablet controlling the shit would be better in the end.

>>12029 I just got a phone mount that holds your phone near the CD slot magnetically. I like it and imagine it's pretty similar to having an Android head unit.

Bump with a question; I've been thinking of getting some bookshelf speakers from the thrift store, extracting the drivers, and putting them in my car. Anyone here try this?
>>12076 I've never tried it but it seems like it would work. I know that car amps are basically the same as desktop amps. You would probably have to adapt the wiring though.
>>12076 > from the thrift store as a former thrift rat that's a bad idea unless you're stupid lucky to find something decent. it'd be easier and a better use of your time/money to grab a cheap set of new speakers.
>>12090 There's a Goodwill in a particularly nice area near me that gets a lot of "dated but good" audio equipment, so it shouldn't be too hard. I could just do Pyles or something but I'm convinced I can get a better home speaker for the same price.
