>tfw this board is dead
Slow doesn't mean dead, faggot. I'm here everyday.
Same. There simply is no other comfy and interesting car board
>>13847 Maybe you should contribute actual content in an effort to revive it, rather than just sit here and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA before going back to whatever other board you browse.
>>13861 hey man, i wanna learn about cars from this board. I don't have much to contribute, just kills me that it is so slow, such a nice board
>>13862 I wanna be that cat.
>>13862 That is why most of us are here This board used to be even slower
>>13865 me too my dude, I love garfield
Bump for deadness
Its not dead if you use your power to post
It's winter in the only Hemisphere that matters Northern Hemisphere, only Aussies could be driving their actually nice cars this time of year.
>>13847 ?, someone has the motorcode stolen , there were 2 world wars over people trying to restart astrology safely , females chasing the wrong husband and vice versa , this being a space colony and people stealing from the military to abuse each other has lead to serious problems , for over 160,000,000 years , including personel like jesus being sacrificed in place simply to help further helps such as the jewish advancement from gibraltar along with the odin path to gibraltar and prior to the wishing fountain in the american heartland along with central american hole into the center of the planet , there are many problems , and now a ' artificial code guided car ' that is probably build to help murder people in a way that the pilots of the coding are damaged and then people steal from the car purchasers , since ' everyone is going to require a super code car the future etc irobot etc got to defend yourself ' life nearing ' idiocracy animatrix ' where life is sad and go stupid wrong , but there is always hope , along with gratitude be thanked to The Divine Infinite Unity , The Difinity , The Difity , The Difinities Entire , The Delta-Difinity , Θε Δελτα-Διφινιτυ ,.
>>14951 Why? I drive my nice car whenever the roads are not frozen or snow covered, which translates to 75% of winter.
>>14951 I can drive my car in the winter because I don't live in some far north shithole that salts the roads Except I can't drive right now because it just snowed an inch for the first time in like 40 years and no one knows how to drive in it
>>14954 Unless you're driving ancient shit, your car's underbody has a galvanized undercoating which should even resist small rocks. Only scraping damages the coating.
>>14955 And you should give your underbody a gentle steam gun cleaning every spring tbh
>>14955 How ancient is a 1987 GM that's never been farther north than South Carolina?
>>14951 Ausfag reporting in. I drive my shitbox daily Monday-Thursday and the majority of the weekend. My nice car is saved for Friday and a nice drive sometime over the weekend. This happens all year round because no snow is awesome.
>>14959 Hello.

>>14955 >>14953 >tfw Alaskafag >tfw this winter has been a constant thaw-freeze cycle >tfw car is in a hundred pieces in a garage for painting
>>14979 Can we see a piece? It might inspire me to give my bumper a drop of paint because someone hit it in parking lot.

>>14980 this was the hood about 6 months ago, I'll get a recent pic for you this weekend
(2.31 MB 4160x3120 IMG_20180122_101426691.jpg)

new pic for >>14980
>>15006 >>15066 Impressive. Did you paint it with brush or sprays? My scratch is still there, because it is -10 celsius minimum at any time of day, and paint would just freeze on the surface. And fall off the day it unfreezes. >Tfw no garage
>>15067 >brush painting a car
>>15068 Uhhh… I did not understand. Are you implyig that is ridiculous? Brush painting definetaly is easier to screw up, but with the right tools you can apply much thicker layer of paint, thus giving the metal surface slightly more protection from elements, as well as ability to just wash off lighter scratches. Spraypainting might be faster and easier, but the end result is just not the same.
>>15070 that's what many coats are for. the metal pieces are getting an epoxy coat and then surfacer which gets a base coat and clear coat
(1006.99 KB 4160x3120 JPEG_20180131_134137.jpg)

been putting in some work, final surfacer layer soon
I know how to make this board alive. Bully me for buying a boomermobile. I don't care what you think, it's a fun car with lots of parts available and lots of knowledge bases to pull from when shit goes wrong.
>>15266 I don't think rarity makes a car cool, I like common cars for the reason you mentioned. It's easy to find parts or instructions for cars that aren't bespoke.
>>15266 There is nothing wrong with a C5 Corvette. As long as it has a V8.
>>15271 >>15267 Yep, V8 American power, and basically stock with all the maintenance done through, as far as I could tell from CarFax. And besides, if something happens and I don't have tools or the ability to fix it, there are dealers and tons of specialists in my area. It's my first V8, everything else I'd had was I4 or V6. By comparison, the Corvette is monstrously powerful, despite being weaker than some modern V8 Mustangs and Camaros. I was also more shocked at how clean the interior was. It's not immaculate, but reeeeeaaally nice for being 16 years old.
>>15285 As a non-'vette owner, and a guy who has never owned anything bigger than a 2.0L i4, the only things I've heard about the Corvette community are good things. The only down side is that I hear you'll fall too much in love with Corvettes, and I frankly don't see a problem with that. There's a reason why old dads fall in love with them, and maybe that reasons works for younger guys too. I'd certainly try to get a Corvette if I could afford one.
>>15286 >you'll fall too much in love with Corvettes That's the problem I've read about but it's also that a Mustang in V8 still isn't as exciting looking as a Corvette and ride definitely isn't as good. My brother has a GT/CS from 2013, the Corvette I just got rides nicer and it's a base from 2002. The other nice thing is V8 cars seem to hold their value better and do seem to last longer than some cheap I4 from typical American brands. Obviously Japanese cars go until the apocalypse in a lot of cases but German cars can be finicky even when you do proper maintenance. The LS stuff seems really rock solid, and my family has a friend who bought a C6 brand new to commute around Washington DC because it was the most comfortable car she drove. She's put over 200k miles on it, no major issues. If you ever get a chance to save some money for a nice V8 based car, it's nice to have that extra power on tap and generally have strong powertrain. I've heard good things about the Genesis V8 sedans, but I've also heard they aren't for everyone. Otherwise, C4 Corvettes are usually affordable and 1992+ will have the LT1 from before LS naming, which is still a strong performer and pretty reliable. The only knock against the C4 at that point for me was the interior, the ride is similar between the two if both are stock/base. Sporty but not uncomfortable.
>>15286 >>15295 tbh I find the Corvette a little too visually ostentatious. Like, I feel like it'd be vandalism bait, it just looks too much like a supercar and here in Canada I would sort of expect for some commie to slash the tires sooner or later. I'd go with a Camaro over it due to similar performance and handling without looking as expensive.
You should post more on the Attention Hunger Games. Even if you don't win you will attract anons. How I discovered this place wasn't entirely dead yet
>>15266 its fine anon, i feel like i am the few here who like newer cars (although despise the overuse of plastic)
>>15356 Newer cars can suck ass sometimes but new Hyundai and Kia seem to be doing well. I'm interested to see how well the Stinger GT/Genesis G70 do long-term, because I might get one used in a few years when I replace my Focus. >>15297 Camaro versions are usually (but not always) inferior build quality and they generally don't last as long. LS Corvettes can safely go 200k miles or so. Also, I live in a richer area of the US where Vettes blend pretty well. People will notice, but more often I see a Model S, E-class, SL, 3-series, X-series and various Porsche running around. Including one dumbfuck driving his Ferrari in stop and go traffic. The Vette'll be safe.
>>15359 I am impressed how much KIA has improved these last few years, i really like their designs to. Guessing they are just trying to compete with Japan. I also really like new Focus and Honda's Accord
>>15359 >model S, E-Class, SL, 3 series and X-series can make a vette look blend ah, America.
>>15365 C'est la vie, non? I should say, there are plenty of other cars that are much more normal, like various Fords, Civics, Accords, Priuses (though not a lot of other regular Toyota cars), the odd Hyundai here and there. But a Corvette doesn't stick out so much that they'd be targeted. >>15363 Yeah, the new Focus is actually quite nice. Pretty peppy for a 2.0L I4, backup camera is standard, handles alright. It's certainly not a track or rally monster, and some insane entrance ramps give you a lot of body roll but it's perfectly fine as a commuter car and I've used it for a 1k mile roadtrip for the solar eclipse last year. Spent 13 hours driving one of the days, car was actually pretty comfy for the first 8 hours before I got sore.
>>15367 >tfw Civics and Prius are rarer than the German cars above where I live and the Accord doesn't even sell anymore >tfw I only see a Corvette a year My point of view is slightly different lel
>>15374 >Only see a Corvette a year >no Civics or Prius >only german cars Are you actually German? That would explain a lot.
>>15376 Nope French
>>15391 >French I'm very sorry
>>15393 Was that supposed to be some kind of joke?
>>15396 Probably. Still, a bit surprised you don't see more French cars than German. Don't frogs have crazy road taxes for big engines too?
>>15415 I never said there was less French cars than German ones. There maybe even a bit more Japanese cars than German ones now. French shitboxes are everywhere here. And yeah, there's a fuckload of hurdles against big engines that aren't 30 yo.
>>15420 Peugeot 206, the one car every european wants to try but never to own. How much is the cheapest one that runs and is road legal? Bet it's no more than 500 european rupees.
>>15425 No one here wanna try the 206. Only Americans. Yeah an old running 206 with more than 300k kms would go for less than 1k€. So people just trash them because of our laws.
>>15432 I am not american, but 206 looks cute. And with spares that are available in France and France only.
>>15435 M8 you can find spares all around the globe except Japan, China, Africa and North America.
>>15070 >>15066 >>15006 man wish I knew how to paint a car
>>15446 >latest post is 23 days ago god damn, 4/o/ is pretty trash but that's always the problem, boards here are nice but practically on life support. I will pledge to make a post at least once every 3 days on this board to do my part.
