What was your dream car as a kid... Driver 03/09/2018 (Fri) 22:37:44 Id: 5a4e5f No. 15452
…and at what age did you realize you will never own it? Pics very much related. NFS3 on the PS1 was my first game ever. It might have single-handedly made me into a car guy. And of course that yellow Diablo SV was always on my mind for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately with car prices skyrocketing <and the fact that I am a total fucking loser I realized that I'll never get the chance to have my very own SV. At this point I'm lucky na MR2s are relatively cheap, for now.
>>15452 I kind of already own my dream car. It's just a simple miata, but it's everything I've wanted out of a car. Exotics are nice, but you can't drive them every day. I got rid of wanting in my life. Now I just do. I'm more concern with getting my dad his dream car before he's too old to drive it, and he does actually have one, unlike me. He didn't aim high. It's just a Honda S2000, but I'm fixing it up for him, so he knows that I worked for it in more ways than one.
>>15452 Wouldn't want a Jag now though, even though new ones seem to have better build quality than older generations. Also old NSX

My childhood was mostly racing vidya and hotwheels up until I was about 10, so I have my fair share of favorites that are and aren't within my reach. There's almost no way I'll be able to get my hands on a Levin TE-27, Lamborghini Muira, or Panoz Roadster, but I already own a Miata and am seriously considering buying an 8n Audi TT quattro to replace my daily

Even when I was a kid in the early 2000s I would watch these old Clarkson and Rally-related VHS my mother would buy me and they'd often talk about the rally king of the post-quattro era; The Delta HF. This is a car I have wanted for about as long as I can remember, but the ridiculous appreciation means once I finally get to a calm period in my life they'll be far too expensive. An Evo VI is my alternate choice due to Makinen being a part of my earliest racing memories (alongside Hakkinen and Schumacher in F1), but who knows how much they'll be worth in 5 - 10 years time either?

I started playing vidya when I was 7 or 8, with Gran Turismo. I always loved the Viper and I still do. I might get one someday, we'll see how my career goes.

>>15463 Deltas of all kinds are exploding in value. I doubt Evos will explode in value and all gens have their charm. Also shameless plug but I made a discord so join if you wanna rvWvGBx

Ever since i saw it in Test Drive 6, my first racing game on PS1, i was hooked on it. Speed 12 version not so much, because it sucked for the group it was in, and since i had no memorystick, i got to play that group like 5 times in my childhood.

>>15452 I dream of a 911 Targa since I'm 10 years old. I might actually get one in a couple of years. Not a new one, butnot older than 2-3 years. Will be a major item off the bucket list.
Always wanted an AE86 and watching initial D made me want it even more,i realized that i will never have one when my country went to shit.

Blame NFS Porsche unleashed. I wanted an old 911 Targa in that odd factory green. Got to test drive and almost buy one when I was 17, way back in '07. The guy wanted 7k, and I had that in cash. The crotchety asshole, 'did not want drug money' and wanted me to have bank statements. As a teen with druggie absentee parents, no way in hell could I get a bank statement. These things are like 30-60 now. I am thinking of getting one still, and then having it turned into a 'safari' 911.

It's a fucking muscle car but not utter shit to drive
2012 Dodge Charger. I knew very little of cars, because I lived in a third world country. We know what cars are and how to drive them, and we know rich people have them, and that's it. But when some guy on a site called MLP Forums did this thing where he'd put pony-themed colours and patterns on cars, I asked him to do one for a pony OC I made to fit in, and he did it. And I saw the coolest car I'd ever seen. 2012. Dodge. Charger. Painted up in awesome colours. Speed over 200 mph, and an awesome number of horsepowers.
>>15452 same game, C5 vette i liked its dashboard texture, popups and taillights >realized high revs are just more fun than having more torque than i can handle all the time

>>15452 HA! I am almost you. 993 Turbo, saw on the very related NFS from PS1 as well. That glorious digitalized sound of a fucking air cooled turbo charged six cylinders, man, I was in love and knew from that moment: that's my life time goal. Now at age 25 I have a 2012 Cayman S, it's fun, have that subtle reminder of the flat six working with air and dirty cheap if we compare to the 993 turbo these days… But I don't know, maybe, MAYBE, some day.
RX7 was my car in Need for Speed. Loved it.
>>16289 Just remembered: by 2002 I meant your birth year, not the age you hit puberty. Though I do have to know where most newfags post-2015 came from, thought cuckchan still had an embargo over the usage of our name.
>>16299 I learned to drive in an RX-7. Might be why I failed my driving test first time.

>>16301 If not for my complete distrust in people I might get one, but I'm not ready to rebuild an engine since some fuck nut didn't understand how to take care of a rotary engine.
When I was little, I wanted a 1982 Porsche 911 in dark gray. As a teenager, I liked the Murcielago, but so did every other teenager on the planet. I ended up getting an 82 Porsche as an adult, though it's a 924. Even better than the 911, it has pop-ups.
Can we see it?

>>16548 This probably isn't the thread for sharing our shitboxes, so I'll spoiler. The paint code is actually for a dark gray with metal flake, but the previous owner did a shit job painting it red with a rattle can. Oversprayed absolutely everywhere. Want to take it back to factory color.

>>16584 forgot this

(59.63 KB 782x522 fabia-r5-dimensions.jpg)

>>16240 Shit's ridiculous As for me, idk, I never really had a dream car for some reason, can't even find myself to list favorites because I like many cars based on their quirks and so on. Probably because I got into cars when I was already old and bitter. But the closest I guess would right now probably be the Skoda Fabia R5. I've wanted Skoda to finally splurge a bit and make a sports car for years but they've only made balls deep scaffolding racers and refuse to make street sports cars. Recently they announced they'd make a limited production Fabia R5 for the road but it ended up just being a regular Fabia with green wheels. What a letdown.
>>16587 Škoda brand is not supposed to associate itself with anthing remotely fast, there is a reason why they outsell any VW on the market. They are the dailiest daily cars you can have. And damn, they are great for that. Also they look less terrible than VW.
(76.37 KB 600x399 2099771.jpg)

(211.50 KB 1600x1066 JB6ba207__mg_1259.jpg)

>>16589 They've improved a lot since VW acquired them. And they do have potential for speed, see the 130RS and the "Ferat" Prototype. I know Skoda is supposed to be the boring commute brand but they are wasted potential. But I guess that comes with being an affordable car maker in the 2010s in Central Europe.
>>16289 >Keeping a picture of a jewish fridge on your hard drive
(167.43 KB 736x940 sarah_silverman_024.jpg)

>>16592 >Ferat Say, ain't that the "Vampire Car" that feeds on the blood on the driver? >>16608 Fuck you, she's hot. Here, since you care so much, have another from my collection.
>>16613 Exactly that one. Also known as 110 Super Sport. Apparently at the time could hit over 200 km/h.
>>16613 just realized I meant blood *of the driver, but it's not that big of a typo. >>16615 The Ferat does remind one a lot of the Delorean, though it preceded even the original Italdesign concept of that by 5 years and the similarities are most likely coincidental given that many companies were experimenting with wedge-shaped designs for their concept cars during the 70s. That said, it's almost jaw-dropping how far ahead of its time the Ferat was in terms of styling; they could've sold that as a brand new car (with a necessarily adjusted rear-end and passenger entry system) a full 10 years later and nobody would've batted an eyelid. The fact it came from a Skoda that was still very much wrapped tightly around the claws of communism makes it all the more impressive.
>>16622 That's how it usually goes, if a car is too forward thinking it's usually a failure. Maybe except the Renault 5.

>>16662 I prefer the longtail. It sticks better to the road.
Played a lot of Test Drive 6 when I was a kid then later played NFS Most Wanted, and I always went for the Dodge Viper and painted it a dark blue with double white stripes. I don't think I'll ever own one, but what I can say is that I will always love this 2000 Camaro Z28 with navy blue paint that once belonged to my mother. It's been with us ever since she bought it factory new from a dealer way back when, and only recently I can say it's mine. I'll take care of this car, even if it kills me.
(61.73 KB 604x405 zp2.jpg)

>>16722 And here's a picture of one with the same paint color
>>16723 Those were 5 speeds right?
>>16725 they came in 4 auto, 5 and 6 manual depending on engine choice, the usual GM offerings. Luckily, they're so similar to the 3rd gen F-bodies that the t-56 swaps over/parts can be found with ease for some extra highway mileage plus an utterly bullet proof and simple transmission. If you have a 4th gen with a t-56, hold onto that baby, because a literal monkey could fix that tranny up, and the LS1 or 1st gen SBC are both bullet proof engines with excessive aftermarket. The car will rattle apart well before the drivetrain breaks, except maybe the rear end if you enjoy burnouts.
Lotus Esprit 8 Am 32 now and own one though so jokes on me

I don't even remember. Maybe the 300ZX was my first when really young. It's still a nice looking car to me but not one I really want.
