FIAT Panda Driver 07/30/2018 (Mon) 12:14:37 Id: a690ea No. 16395
is this the pinnacle of utilitarian design?
>>16395 Those rare times i see cars like this at junkyards i love to sit in them and imagine myself driving it to the end of the world. Theres something really nice about these small tin cans.

>>16395 Definetaly on the top 3 of utilitarian designs. Along with literally every pre-5th generation all wheel drive Golf.
>>16406 I wouldnt call golfs utilitarian. they are much higher quality and more luxurious compared to fiat panda

>>16421 Not breaking is part of being utilitarian, but ok, i can roll with it. Then make way for the Seat Toledo, the car that invented the boot style Audi now calls Liftback. Also it was made on tha same base as the second gen Golf, and almost everything in it was outdated when it came out. It had the minimum required engine power to make it move with 5 passengers and 2 sacks of potatoes. Everything that was not German made broke or fell off after 5 years, but was cheap enough to be replacable ad infinitum. It still was 2nd Golf in the engine bay, so it could take you to hell and back Also those madmen somehow fitted a limited slip FWD differential by standart on them. Just because they could.
>>16395 The Fiat Panda feels like a tin can on the inside while you're traveling in it and when people see you in it they think you're a bum. At least replace those ambers with clear ones anon. Preferably just don't own a Fiat.

>>16395 i don't care about normie tastes the original Panda is absolutely aesthetic
>>16460 Back when these cars were out "normals" must have had better opinions than they do now.

>>16395 Could be, yes. >>16421 The first gen ticks all boxes imho, the second and third were extremly durable though. >>16435 Owned two for quite some time, starting and running in any weather. i dont care what people think; i do like the spartan/functional look & idea behind it, plus the parts are dirt cheap. Same goes for the first 2 pictures related, Opel Kadett D and E, fucking indistructable through simplicity.
>>16464 Back then you had lots of choise. from cheap simple cars to expensive better cars. now days there are no cheap cars

>>16555 that's more of the pinnacle of small and efficient car design. The panda had the ability to go somewhat off-road.

I rented one of these while on vacation in the Caribbean. I felt more attached to that 90hp soup can in those 12 days than I ever did in the 7 years of my first car.

>>16395 no but the new one is
American off-roaders are superior.
>>17502 >ywn have a mint bronco II >ywn engine swap a blazer with a 454
>>17502 And that's the problem: too much metal to deal with.
>>17502 >American offroaders >Utilitarian Don't worry, I don't expect Americans to grasp the "utilitarian" concept, it's close to being your antithesis.
>>17508 >lots of space >can go everywhere >never dies Only rivaled with small Japanese trucks of the 80s and early 90s.
>>17512 >lots of space Heavy as a pile of logs of equal size >can go everywhere And can take your big belly too. >never dies A ruined carpet after getting a few time in and out of it with muddy boots. AC is an invention only for those who volunteered to live too close to equator, so the rest of us don't have to. Also it does not need to die, it's so heavy it will get stuck in the first door-deep ditch and stay there until someone brings a tractor.
>>17513 More torque and horsepower and shit, ground clearance, tires, nothing major to avoid such problems. Not saying the Fiat Panda isn't bad, I think it's the best off-roader in western Europe but you can't haul anything and has little ground clearance. What is required to meet this thread's requirement of utilitarianism.
>>17515 by your definition or utilitarian, a Panzer would be the pinnacle of this thread.
>>17518 Too big, long, and slow, much harder to maintain.
>>17508 >Don't worry, I don't expect Americans to grasp the "utilitarian" concept, it's close to being your antithesis. So succinct. So true. I can tell you women in America can't become fertile for any man unless he is displaying an absolutely idiotic level of stupid, wasteful, no-hope-of-getting-any-return-on-his-money spending. Their ovaries literally freeze and the eggs die in the presence of men who do not discard money like Kleenex™ The American Mating Call is stupidly wasting money on overt shows of idiotic CONSUMPTION. >>17508
>>17524 An AMX 30 then. Smaller than other tanks, can go 100 km/h, regular engine. I can't see any downside on your UtIlItArIaN definition.
(597.90 KB 720x540 nana nurse.png)

>>17527 It implicitly has to be a car or truck, don't be a sarcastic little shit.
(1.97 MB 2250x1500 Ural truck.jpg)

>>17528 >>17515 Best truck coming through by your standart, then. The Russian Ural. It's THE truck you want, if you want to cross bridgeless rivers, cut down trees with sheer force of impact (indestroyable steel bumpers) or invade a country to "uphold the rights of our fellow citizens". And in the best American traditions, it's a V8, no turbos, 2 valves per cylinder, and it chews down minimum, empty and on road, 20 liters of 65 gasoline each 100 kilometers. That's about 11mpg . Loaded it can get 50l/100km or about 4 mpg
>>17529 Nice truck but too big, needs to be smaller so it won't take up space, preferably a car that's just about the size of a Panda with better off-road capabilities and room in the back, maybe a small truck bed instead. This conversation/argument no longer means anything.
>>17530 >argues that American trucks are better >now says that too big is bad and you need the size of a Panda Full circle it is
>>17531 I said off-roaders not BIG TRUGZ, I should've specified I was thinking of Ford Bronco, Chevy S-10, pre-2000s Jeeps, Trackers, etc. I also said before that the Panda was a good car but struggled to off-road. That or should you learn to read.
>>17530 >preferably a car that's just about the size of a Panda with better off-road capabilities and room in the back Lada Niva?
(90.20 KB 800x533 1986 UAZ.jpg)

>>17532 Russians got you covered on that too. The UAZ 469. 7 seats, AWD, lockable everything (except doors), can carry just as much weight as you need.
>>17535 And the best part is: They are still making them brand new!
(13.91 KB 348x348 1452322780095.jpg)

>>17535 This is good.
>>17532 >bronco and s-10 >small Lel you should travel a bit
No.
