Your side windows are made of tempered glass, which explodes into a million tiny pieces when it breaks. It's safer than having huge shards of glass flying around, but it will still fuck up your feet. Fires after crashes are also still very possible, although nowadays it takes a long time for the flames to breach the firewall.

A pair of Sperry's were the best driving shoes I ever used. Uncomfortable as hell to actually walk in since they were sockless moccasins and had no support, but it made my footwork noticeably better, and after about 10 minutes in the driver's seat I forgot I was wearing them. Only used them for a day, so I returned them about a week later and went back to my beat to hell NBs.
