Wheel arch laziness Driver 09/27/2018 (Thu) 08:48:06 Id: 3b2e00 No. 16921
Aren't you furious about that new trend of designers? That fucking trend which makes car designers make flat wheel arch on the side of the car and break the whole car flow altogether? Well I fucking am. Fuck that shit. Make wheel arches great again like the Challenger does. There might be others cars having good designs regarding this situation, but for affordable cars, this is the only one I can think about. Discuss and convince me this isn't an issue, because it pisses me off.
>>16921 It's done to maximize internal volume and aero efficiency I'd prefer it if they all looked like challengers
>>16922 If they just ended the lips with a thin lip and not that wierd flat end, volume wouldn't be much different and I'm sure aerodynamics wouldn't be much different either.
I heard it was for "Pedestrian Safety" (so stupid bullshit people shouldn't worry about) as it was found to keep people from getting their hands caught in wheel wells. I do agree it's ugly for a stupid reason and anyone who thinks Pedestrian crash standards are remotely acceptable needs to get hit by a Mack Truck.

Probably the only modern cars to have those big, weird wheel arches but manage to fit them into the styling
>>16930 I think you misunderstood me: I'm not talking about the fact that they're arched, but by the fact that it's flat on their side. Or you got me but I completely disagree with you with your examples, I don't know. >>16929 Seems like something government people would do, I'll dig into it.
Hey, I actually like those flattened wheel arches. It's a cool look.
>>17048 lucky you get to live right when you want.

>>16929 >pedestrian safety Same stupid shit that killed pop up headlights. I miss pop up headlights.
>>17055 Pop up headlights were killed by aerodynamics.
>>17057 >>17055 Both actually, including crash ratings.
>>16930 Fuck that Beetle and it's front bumper. The whole front body is one panel from wheel arch to wheel arch and it's a pain in the ass to remove, and get back on properly.
>>16921 Drove somewhere and couldnt help but notice it on every car after seeing this. Even the audi. I dont like it.
>>17288 ikr? I'm blinded by all new regular cars now.
