spotted thread Driver 11/06/2018 (Tue) 10:14:30 Id: 0ab812 No. 17114
>>17110 I just tried to bump the ol'spotted thread and for some reason it has been stealthily anchored, so I'm making a new one. Here goes an old Auto-Union I spotted near my place!
(5.96 MB 4656x3492 20181023_130511_HDR.jpg)

(6.85 MB 4656x3492 20181023_130519_HDR.jpg)

Saw this in Virginia a while back, had the pictures sitting in my phone forever. Ugly rims but an otherwise pretty car
(6.89 MB 4656x3492 20181023_180058_HDR.jpg)

>>17118 Also saw this while I was up there. The father in law of the guy that owns this had two old Packards that he showed me as well, and I'm kicking myself for not getting pictures.
>>17118 Shit, I'll donate the BBS clones myself, but make the guy remove those fugly wheels.

This is probably only interesting to me because I ride one, (mine's a 500 as opposed to this 300) but it's weird to me that for a bike that I heard sold pretty well, this is the first one I've seen other than mine.
Didn't get a pic, but I spotted a Hilux in the US. They came up from Mexico for black friday.
>>17345 Funny the US is short of a pickup truck. I mean if I think pickup I think USA, and the Hilux is one of the most famous ones. It´s hard for me to believe that there's more Hiluxes in Europe than USA.
>>17346 Especially in Texas which is where I saw it. They way you feel about pickups and America, is the way other Americans think l about Texas. That's true for a lot of things really. If you think all Americans are X, or like X, then it's very likely Americans think all Texans are X, or like X. Texas is like a little super America within America. Best damn state in the union, I tell you what.
>>17347 I heard it was nice to visit, too bad it's away from everything else there is to see in the commoner's book (as west and east coast). I should really road trip all around the USA one day.
>>17349 You'll need friends for a proper road trip. Stop by Texas and I'll show you around. We can shoot funs and go to the Alamo and have a blast not all at the same time.
(6.24 MB 4160x3120 20181128_121321.jpg)

Went to look at this with my dad, so I guess it's not really "spotted," but it's still damn cool. >>17347 I thought the T100/Toyota Pickup/Tacoma was the Hilux, just called something different?
>>17353 bro they don't even look the same >>17351 I wish I could just hop around the world like that, that'd be sweet (for guns blazing, there's eastern europe for me heh)
(4.25 MB 4160x3120 20181128_121307.jpg)

The guy also had a restored Grand National for sale, unfortunately both the car and the bike are priced beyond me or my dad. >>17354 I meant the older 90s models
>>17356 There might be setting very similar with the same chassis and engine, but it had a unique body, which is how I even noticed in a place where every other vehicle is a pickup. It was a bit more rounded off and smooth than the trucks in usually see, which is what made me take a second look.
>>17356 how much is a restored GNX worth at your place?
>>17358 I don't know what they usually go for but the guy wanted $15,500 for his
>>17359 sounds like an affordable collectible, thanks for the info

>>17759 Just saw this French oldie yesterday night and with original licence plates, which means the guy who drives this DS probably also is the first owner! I'm amazed
>>17258 >Portrait aspect ratio Good find, but please never reproduce. >>17762 Are you telling me that when a classic car in France gets sold it has to have new plates?
>>17763 Every car had to change plate for every new ownership before 2009. Since then, all cars with the old system must change to the new one when changing ownership. Thankfully the new system makes the new plates stay for the whole car's life now. So this means that this car still have the pre-2009 system but also has a very old plate style (silver on black) with a very low number (all plates were going from 0 A [departement] to 999 ZZZ [departement]), as he got only the letters RS, quite a low number here. Note that now you can get silver on black plates again when you ask for a collector's insurance for a 30yo+ car.
>>17762 Of course it's parked on a road crossing. Classical French man indeed.
Spotted royalty a while ago just parked a village over. You decide which car is royalty. The Sport Quattro, the Muira or the engine swapped SP-1000. The muira driver was not happy, he was driving into a thunderstorm, we were staying in the sunshine.
(1.08 MB 900x596 us-europe-special-74.png)

>>17766 Damn, that's a nice Muira.
>>17766 Sorry to disappoint you, but that's not the Sport Quattro. That's just a regular Coupe. Still neat.
>>17767 Kek I reacted the same way >>17765 Yeah in my town they do everything to remove as much parking spaces as possible each week so we have to park like its Mumbay every day. The police doesn't even fine anyone past 7pm so no one cares.

Cute z3 coupe.
>>17924 fun fact: here we call them shooting breaks and not coupe because of the vertical hatchback design.
>>17898 I saw one of these the other day, but didn't have a chance to take a pic.
>>17923 Did they get that out of a cracker jack box?
>>17942 Nah man, it came in a box of Pocky.
Saw two old 1933 Ford Coupes running down I10 today They had to have done something to them engine wise because they were running about 75 freedom units easy
>>17976 Are you sure they weren't replicas? Factory Five makes a replica one called the 33 hot rod.

This guy showed up at work today. I thank the good Lord above that he didn't want any work done on it.
>>18035 Are these tough to work on?
>>18037 I've never worked on a Maserati, but given that it's an Italian luxury sports car with a reputation for being a money pit, it probably sucks to do anything more major than change the oil.
>>18038 Is the Italian car thing a meme or do they all really just break down all the time and have loads of problems? Or are they on level with most euro cars?
>>18053 Everything I've ever heard from people that own Italian cars has been that they have them in the shop at least as much as they drive them, with the exception of one couple I know who own a 10's Fiat 500 that inexplicably only ever needs routine maintenance to stay running. When they work, they're absolutely fantastic cars, they just hardly ever work. I chalk it up to Italians caring more about making something fun to drive and beautiful to look at than they care about making it work reliably. The sole exception to this rule is the Fiat Panda, which looks pretty boring but allegedly runs like a top (I've never seen one here in America)

>>18058 One more set since I'm feeling generous, if there's demand I'll drop another, but this isn't even close to the last show I'll be visiting this year and chances are I'll find far more interesting things to post than what I already have. >>18061 I will say this though, it took me a while to notice but I think even with my limited selection of pics you can see it too; there was not a single non-white in sight. No rich arab cunts slamming their gold-wrapped Lambo down the road into a sign or brick wall. No uppity chimps in their clapped out diesel hatchbacks pretending they have the performance model. If it was London it'd be an entirely different story. The North is to the UK what the South is to Murica; vainly trying to preserve the values of the country while leftist shithole enclaves i.e. Rotherham push back. >>18062 At least it's just a plate as opposed to full-on federalization. The fake US-style plates really get to you after a while since the font used isn't even close to real ones. Don't know why they shouldn't be allowed just to run their original plates, since I highly doubt anyone is going to mistake a bronze-colored Chevy Bel-Air for another one in the UK of all places.
>>18068 >The fake US-style plates really get to you after a while Wow, VW drivers do that here with fake EU German plates. They're the only ones I see do it. Do they pick any state plate or is it always Cali or some shit?

(14.36 KB 299x129 z_illegal-number-plates.jpg)

>>18069 I've seen a few different states, Cali is usually the go-to one however. Here's a '90s Firebird I saw late last summer with "Montana" plates. The stupidest part about it though is they're still governed under UK plate law (so any car made post-1972 has to have white front/yellow rear plates and anything made before that can have silver/white on black) On the whole it's either that, or motorcycle width plates (like you saw on the 2nd gen Camaro) with the standard UK font. They're real killjoys about plates too - these two pics look like they spell out words, right? Nope! The Range Rover's "PSYCO" is actually "P6 YCO". Similar case with "MR LION" - it was actually "MRL 10N". Both were ordered to remove their plates due to illegal spacing. They've been talking for years about implementing a full "vanity plate" scheme like there is in the US where you can write whatever the hell you want on your plate, but it's never come to fruition. Before the 2000s you could also use any font, but since the introduction of ANPR they only continue to allow it on cars that have had them since they were legal. As a result there are very few plates that are interesting, and fewer that aren't wasted (as you'd expect, C3 VET, C4 VET, C5 VET and C6 VET are all on Corvettes corresponding to their generation, as are R34 GTR and R35 GTR on the Nissan Skyline, yet R32 GTR is on a Golf (The R32 part I get, the GTR is just selfish IMHO) and V1 PER is on a fucking Range Rover)

The bullshit here is just some states allow you to not have a front plate that ruins the car, but others you need them. Then other shit like NY having 2 plates. At least we get vanity plates. Another thing is custom plates, In most, if not all the states allow you them. This can be sports teams (from that state) to plates with a branch of the military or other odd shit too. I just find it interesting when I see US cars being popular in Europe or something, I saw something with Japanese that are into muscle cars, both new and old.
