Importing a car Driver 11/15/2018 (Thu) 02:14:39 Id: 59dc4c No. 17186
The car I want to import is old.enough for the 25 year rule. Has anyone done this? I know there can be complications with foreign VINs. In some states the DMV will choke on them. My dream is to import a 2-door Honda Today and turn it into pic related. Yes it would still.be a shitty little kei car. Just let me have my fantasy.
I knew a guy that imported a GTR from Canada. He blew the engine and couldn't afford to fix it. Now it just sits there. Make sure you have money for parts since it might be harder to work on the car.
>>17192 If/when I blow the E07A, I'll probanly swap it out for a different engine entirely. This is still just mental masturbation at this point, anyway. I barely have money to eat.
Bump for the halfchanner influx.

Well, since no one knows about importing, does anyone else want to build an anime car for larping purposes? The today is from "You're Under Arrest!" The cute cop girl has it stroked out to 700cc, turbocharged, and has nitrous. While I never saw it in the show, Wikipedia claims she has twin cams on it. I have no idea how that conversion would work. All the similar engines I can find are also SOHC.
>>17301 I know about imports, but not into USA. Also to answer your first question: no.
>>17301 >I have no idea how that conversion would work New cylinder head. Probably one from a very similar engine where the oil and water channels line up. If there's no DOHC head for the engine, you're looking at a fuckton of money. Designing a cylinder head is no trivial task. Turbocharging an engine, in comparison, can be rather simple, but if you want it to run right you probably will need a new EFI system, complete with a new ECU, which will need to have its maps dialed in by a competent technician lest you grenade your shiny 90hp engine due to knocking. Then, there's no telling if the bottom end would be able to handle that much power, but since you're stroking it anyways, you'll be fitting better parts anyway. Which will be crazy expensive because there's no aftermarket for Kei car engines.
>>17306 Oh yeah. I would convert it to megasquirt, and it would have a custom crankshaft and rods. I'd run e85 and water injection.
>>17301 If it were me, I'd ditch the E07A and cram in a D16. Over twice the displacement, very easy to come by, VEE-TÆK, and a retardedly huge aftermarket.
>>17317 Yeah, I've thought about doing some kind of swap. With the exception of the water injection/e85, I want it to be like it is in the animu/mango as much as possible, down to the paint job. Too bad the light bar would be illegal where I live.
>>17317 Also, the E07A might not have VTEC, but it does have MTREC. It's just ITB. Could easily slap that on a D16.
Anywhere in the US one can buy R13 tires and/or wheels?
>>17451 Every mid-size tyre shop? Nvm, forgot that there are no small cars that use small wheels in the States. They are unusual in Europe, but definetaly findable if you visit 2 or 3 shops. Best time to go wheel hunting is 2 months before season change (only Summer/Winter, spring/autumn don't count), because then the shops will be sending out orders for stuff, and if you ask around, some shop will get whatever tire you need. That's how i buy my wheels, at least. Got them real cheap too, like 35 euromoneys for 2.
>shitty little kei cars Just an A-class with stumpy engine bay and you'd look manlier than anyone driving our modern bubble cars.
The actual car used for the live-action movie is for sale at $13,600. If it isn't sold within 9 months, it'll be scrapped. There are multiple websites that specialize in exports from Japan. 5 minutes of searching yielded me about 2 dozen Honda Todays, but all of them were post-facelifts. My assumption is that most of the pre-facelift models were exported to Russia, Australia and New Zealand during the mid-90s. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/honda-today-youre-under-arrest-movie/
>>18492 The live action version sucked, but I's still love to have that car.
