Sporty But Reliable (Touring Capable) Cars Driver 12/05/2018 (Wed) 20:59:20 Id: 285deb No. 17391
So I'm going to be in the market for a second car soon. I want something I can have fun in, but still carry passengers and drive across the country in. 2 seaters maaaybe (I've been looking at some 90s MR2s) but preferably at least 4. I am a very big fan of long distance driving, but I want to actually do it in a fun/nice car for once.
Country? Price range?
>>17393 US, under 10k. Looking for around 5000, but up to 8000.
>>17394 The five you posted as images were all good choices anon, then again it's all a matter of taste: RWD? Turbos? Front engine? Convertible/T-top? Max speed? Agility? Luxury? It depends on what you like the most. If you're more into grand touring, then these aren't really what's best for you though.
My vote goes to the MR2 mainly because its mid engine and will teach you the most. Also I would go NA first.
Never buy Japanese, especially if it has more than 2 valves per cylinder or forced induction. Annual valve seal change is mandatory. That problem haunts every Honda/Mazda i know, and maybe Mitsubishi too, but i don't know anyone with a Mitsubishi. A diesel Golf is a solid option, but you must make sure that it's a TDI model, otherwise it's just meh.
>>17403 On how many levels of bait are you?
>>17404 he's a baltic poster, he doesn't have the same standards.
Go with the MR2 or the Mustang. I'd get the Foxbody over that mustang, but it might not be great for a cross country trip.

>>17403 I second the VW option, you can get some nice sporty cars in their range and they always feel and drive like they cost twice their actual price. I drive a Golf mk5 R32 which I picked up for 10 000 dollarydoos with the DSG gearbox (manual was quite rare and cost 5 grand more). Most people don't know about them and don't know that VW made an entire range of R cars BEFORE the modern Golf Rs. It's 4 wheel drive, has a 3.2 litre VR6 and the best sound an engine can make. No exceptions. idk how much they are in burger land, I'm pretty sure they only sold a limited run, but worth a look anyway
Lexus IS250/IS350. Fairly comfy, good reliability, 4 doors, RWD, and it even has a V8 option if you really look.
