Racing Liveries Driver 01/15/2019 (Tue) 07:32:03 Id: 2d3024 No. 17596
Are racing liveries the least cringy form of graphic modifications? How cringy is it to see a car with pretend racing livery on the road compared to a car fast and furious'd the fuck up? Also livery thread, post your TOM's Supras and such. Video game nerds also welcome.

Martini has been scientifically proven to improve any car's appearance by around 70%.

>praising marketing
>>17689 I don't think anyone ever gives a fuck about the advertisements and people look more on how they look along with the underlying paintjob. It creates a sort of a unique aesthetic. If you strip the sponsors from the livery then suddenly the paintjobs lose their charm. People like to bash on liveries because they're advertisements but those same people I think just don't understand the appeal.
>>17693 When cigarette sponsorship of motorsports was outlawed, the red and white F1 cars I used to watch as a young'un were still visually striking, probably more so without the marlboro writing across it.
>>17697 yet they still have sponsors. I mean sponsors do their best to make the liveries beautiful to appeal to the widest public, so tbh I'm sure a good livery is always better than a random color on a racing car. Some liveries are cancerous though (hello NASCAR).
>>17697 I dunno, the Marlboro font looks classy, certainly more than the McClaren font.
>>17698 >sponsors do their best to make the liveries beautiful to appeal to the widest public, True. I liked it, even though I wasn't their target audience. The second picture was from a BMJ report stating that even without the writing it was still considered to be advertising a tobacco product. Haven't watched F1 for decades, so no idea what current McLaren's look like. >>17701 Not disagreeing, but… I think McLaren's logo was designed to be 'dynamic', to appear fast even when stationary. New 'dark selling' regulations mean that cigarettes are all packaged in shitty brown with the same arial font. So glad they're not sponsoring motorsport now…
>>17703 >New 'dark selling' regulations it's not because they can't put their brand on their product that their logo is dead. Also only a small fraction of countries enacted that law.

>>17701 >Marlboro font looks classy That's just the serifs. You could achieve the same look if you just wrote McLaren in Times New Roman.
