First daily car... a mistake? Driver 06/22/2019 (Sat) 19:28:21 Id: 776adc No. 18414
I'm an 18 y/o who has saved up some money and is soon looking for a daily car. I have no real stuff to lug around (no cargo, and at most 1 passenger), and I've a big fascination for 80's Japanese cars. Would a 1988 Toyota MR2 AW11 N/A be an unwise choice? It's well within my budget, and I'm looking to test drive one soon. pic related

Yes, that car fill you with regret. Get something more tame at first. Tame doesn't have to mean boring though. For example the 4th Gen Celica or a 3rd Gen Supra.
>>18417 >3rd gen supra >not a complex piece of junk which fills anyone with regret that isn't a good mechanic
I learned to drive with an 88 MR2SC. great car. NA will be a little down on power, but lighter and still a wonderful car to learn on. 4AGE is a simple machine to fix.
If you don't plan to move any time soon and don't live in a cold climate, I'd say go ahead.
If it doesn't snow where you live, I don't see why not. Mainly because rwd is hell in the snow and you're very likely to kill yourself being a new driver (especially with all the weight in the rear), but also because 80's to 90's Japanese vehicles rot to pieces if they so much as smell road salt.

pic related assuming you're a burger You didn't mention your actual budget. You either get a clapped out shitbox, or a nice ride depending on how much cash you're wanting to burn.
