my first time
it was pretty fun
learned alot about my car
Try to find a SCCA event in your region… it's a lot better than the GoodGuys events. I can't stand GG courses, some cars have to make 3 point turns to navigate. Plus 30mph limit.. lol
>>1033
Ya there is quite alot SCCA events in DFW but I was already going to the car show and it was still fun for a first time. But next time I would like to go faster. I just hate that there aren't any autocross's within 100 miles of me.
Conefag Blog Update: Won 1st in my region's HS class again. Two other an/o/ns had a rental cup battle and one managed to beat all the other Camaros with a v6 rental

What have you other conefags been up to?

Bought a HCJ CL-16 yesterday. Also found a S2000 club that host a autocross series in Dallas that I plan on competing in for the 2015 season.

AYY keepin this thread alive next autocross I'm going to is on September 19 here are a couple of photos from the last event I went to.

3 time formula 1 world champion and all around badass Nelson Piquet once described Monaco as "like riding a bicycle in your living room." I am inclined to agree with regards to pretty much all street circuits and autocross courses. Are there autocrosses that don't engender such feelings of claustrophobia?
>>6315 claustrophobia? what you gonna hit? a wall??? There is only open space and cones/tires
>>6317 It's not about hitting a wall, it's about not doing much other than tight turns and braking.
>>6318 Skill is about turning and braking, not slamming the gas pedal, any tard on the street can do that and thus make ppl, like american cars or bmw owners, feel like they are master racer when all they are doing is pressing a pedal. The mustang joke, for instance, makes for a perfect analogy.
>>6319 Way to willfully misunderstand and make that a personal attack. I've driven formula cars competitively, im hardly a pedal mushing fag. I've always preferred tracks with flow versus those that stop and start. Lime Rock Park is my favorite that I've driven. Street circuits drive differently to flowing road courses, obviously autocrosses make use of limited space, but are there many that you've encountered that reward flow?
>>6321 I have no idea where that is. I dont do formula, I do rally super specials, rallycross and gymkhana. I also dont know where you live or if you have a BMW so maybe these races are different there, I read there are some odd rules like speed limits… here the cones are often used as guidance (making a track on a large empty space), some tracks have stop boxes or reverse zones, slalom etc so flow varies even within a type of event according to the guy that "designed" the track
Latest pics from the September 19 event. It rained really hard. Course was shutdown for about an hour at one point. It dried up for the last group though, but I was done with my runs by then. >>6315 Really how "tight" the course is, is up to the designer, but generally autocross courses are designed with lots of sharp turns. The purpose of this is to make the amount of hp you have less important and make driving skill, car weight, and suspension tuning more important.
Holy fuck this board is so dead. Here are some pictures from the last event I went to. It was the first even on my Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and "performance" alignment. Both were a huge improvement over what I had before.
I'd be interesting in Autox or any other type of motorsport. Only problem is that southern New england is very limited to this hobby. We have seekonk speed way but just an oval dirt track for stock cars, we have the international drag strips in Thompson and New Hampshire and that's it I guess. Though I have checked Google maps and it appears there's a road course in construction about 10 miles north abit small probably just a go kart track but looks cool. And of course the high speed driving school here in Quonset Rhode island that teaches cops but on their website shows auto crossing but I work at the airport where they hold events and never have I seen an event other than the cops doing donuts.

>this thread is still alive wew Pics from the last event I came 2nd out of 12 in my class. Was my best time so far. Car has 87,000 miles on it now. Need to replace the OE Bilsteins before the next event. There is a noticble difference in performance compared to when I bought the car at 44,000 miles. >tfw this thread is now my personal blog
