IMPROVE Windows 95 CSS PLEASE for those who use it unironically like me Home, Boards.js, Overboards, Multiboard, Posting.html, Settings Watched Threads and Account.js still don't have an icon, meaning that remembering which ones are the one I need extremely difficult Even some random icons would be better than just 9 gray boxes

Cam here to find you and offer support brother! Please improve Windows 95 CSS
(24.16 KB 800x600)Windows 2000.png
I would rather give it a Windows 2000 facelift as I prefer the blue background & gradients.

>>11587 Why not both?
Could this be achieved with a custom CSS?

Please board dev! I'll donate 5 bucks!

Looking at the homepage now, there could probably be more tweaks made to the default icons to be more in line with classic windows. The logo could also be redesigned to have the 4 colors and black outline. It will be a little trickier with Windows 2000 as that one has the logo in the orange square. What could probably work better for the logo as a compromise for both the Windows 95 & Windows 2000 themes would be to have the logo in a black square as shown in pic 5 from 2000's file manager window.

Here's my stab at a Windows-like logo for the themes. If it doesn't look that good, anyone is welcome to have a go at making it.
>>12348 Number one is the best one IMO
>>12349 That's the finished logo, the others weren't offered as choices but given assets to those who'd like to try to make it themselves.

>>12362 Truly a credit to the team(mankind).
>>12362 You're really cooking something great here! hope to see it finished and implemented by the staff

There's no custom thumbnails made for this theme. With a bit of some tweaking in CSS, it should be doable. Unlike the real vanilla 95 desktop, the icons won't be small to click on.
(127.17 KB 300x100)dialing.gif
(183.44 KB 300x100)starfield.gif
There's also nothing for the captcha loading image that appears before the actual captcha code itself. Deciding between these 2 animations. I think for 95, the dialing one will work because it clicks well with the theme already with the background color. For windows 2000 though, it will have to be different and I'm not sure the Starfield screensaver really cuts it.
(107.61 KB 300x100)Win2K-tan Dancing.gif
>>12409 Can't find anything close to the dialing animation for windows 2000 so I think I'll go with the dancing 2k tan. As soon as the small icons are implemented, I'm hoping to make use of the image hover on active code so that when you click on the buttons, they feel pressed in like how they would in windows. It would especially be useful for the X button on the quick reply window so that it behaves more like a window prompt. For the time being, the focus is on adding the icons to those invisible buttons.
>>12413 >>12409 Irreversibly Based Poster. You should be on the staff here or at a better website!
>>12396 Here's one of the custom thumbnails added. I went with 64x64 for the size as a compromise between the authentic win95 desktop having icons at 32x32 and the bigger images posted here. A tweak was added to remove the border effects around the custom thumbnail while still retaining it on the pics, just like the theme on the site as of this posting.

>>12465 Thanks, I love it!
Pardon the scattering of files earlier... Here's the WIP txt file of the Windows 95 Plus! theme with the fixes OP wanted. I'm calling it Plus! as a nod to the product of the same name that also provided fixes & updates for that OS. The theme is not finished yet as I want to implement the button behaviors to be the same as they are on the real OS. Clicking the reply and reload button should act the same as the OK button in the OS. The other custom thumbnails also need to be added in. Fixed audio file thumbnail typo, sorry for deletion.
>>12468 You're the king, thanks, can't wait for the final result
>>12468 This is so awesome! I really hope this one gets finished and merged.

Want to do another test? Here's WIP 2 of the Windows 95 Plus CSS theme. Most notable of this update is the inclusion of the IBM Plex Sans JP font to make it look more retro while also still being readable.

We now have a custom oekaki button for the Windows 95 Plus theme! This is, to my knowledge, the first theme to implement that design change! Really giving off the desktop feel clicking on that and having Oekaki open up like MS Paint.
I wish I could shake your hand.

Update: All the buttons press when you click on them and give you an outline over the last clicked action, just like on real Windows 95! I just need one last set of minor graphical tweaks done and then Windows 95 Plus! will be released for anyone who wants a better Windows 95 CSS theme. Get hyped!!!

New update! In another first for a CSS theme on the site, Windows 95 Plus! will now have matching icons for the home page! All in the little details. Gotta make sure everything works though and that I didn't skip an element before I release it & consider it complete.

Final update! I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve just sent over the final version of my Windows 95 Plus! CSS theme to the site staff. If you’ve loved the Windows 95 CSS theme but wished it had that extra polish put into it, this will get you excited! Check out the attached screenshots for a preview of the new and improved theme! Why you’re gonna love it: >MSDOS command prompt theme when you use the (code) tag! >lots of icons from Windows 95 added to many of the site's elements! MS Paint for Oekaki, icons on the Navbar that instantly let you know of their functions without second-guessing yourself, & icons on the home page giving off that authentic Windows 95 experience, including a redesigned logo for the theme! >when you click on the buttons, they will behave more closely to the Windows 95 desktop by being pressed and released with a focus outline to let you know what you last clicked on! >the unique Windows 95 dialing animation that replaces the default Captcha loader image will not only make waiting for the Captcha more fun, but also serve as a nostalgic reminder of the days of modem & dial-up! >various touch-ups made for things like the footer and thread information will make the text easier to see & read! >the IBM Plex Sans font, while not native to Windows 95, adds another nice touch of throwback while still maintaining legibility! Stay tuned for the rollout and prepare to be amazed!!! Don't forget to mark your calendars for this August as Windows 95 will turn 30 this year!

While the staff is taking their time, here's something that was attempted some time ago but was never completed. Any interest for this theme?
>>13994 Yeah, XP is probably my 2nd most favorite OS, though your blue is a bit too saturated
Check the CSS theme wheel
>>13439 Found this thread, popped in to say holy shit, a huge thank you for fixing it up. I'm glad to see I'm not the only autistic retard who's unironically using this theme. Pseudo related, for anyone who's on linux, look into chicago95 theme, that's what I use and it's pretty damn good at emulating win95.
