Invidious and FreeTube need help Anonymous 05/26/2023 (Fri) 21:09:35 No. 12213
To anyone who knows how to code and how Internet browser video players work, Invidious and FreeTube need help fixing videojs-http-source-selector and videojs-quality-selector so they can use the latest version of VideoJS in their applications. VP9 and AV1 can't be used right now as VideoJS 7.x doesn't support WebM. Using Version 8 would fix this problem. Relevant links: https://github.com/iv-org/invidious/issues/2848 https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/videojs-http-source-selector https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/videojs-quality-selector https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/FreeTube/pull/3482
NEWFRIENDS WHO CAN CODE: Invidious needs help upgrading to Video.js 8. https://github.com/iv-org/invidious/pull/4439
>>17735 I can't code I just host deepseek and it codes for me :(
>>16913 You don't get to just come into a thread and unilaterally call software deprecated.
>>17735 Hopefully this can finally make it across the finish line.
>>17740 Do you know anyone who can?
>>17735 <all those bug fixes
>>17735 So, this will fix the player getting stuck buffering. Nice, because this happens to me often.
>>18295 Biggest problem with Invidious, to be honest.
>invidious >freetube >youtube-local use something that's not a web browser and breaks less often https://chino-chan.gitlab.io/programs.html#s2
>>18769 Shut the fuck up datamining tranny
>>18769 >ackatube >closed source yeah nah
>>18769 LOL what a fag
>>17735 Honestly, I doubt anyone will ever contribute.
>>17735 >PR over a year old Not a good sign.
Well, the newfags are gone now. They were never going to help with this in the first place.
>invidious instance suddenly spewing errors >check issues >invidious might genuinely be dead for a few months fml
>>21762 You beat me to it.
>>21762 next disruptive change place your bets
https://github.com/iv-org/invidious/issues/5263#issuecomment-2851971224 Well, there goes Invidious' privacy protections.
>>18769 This is actually based thanks anon >>21330 We're not, but you're right that we can't help

Invidious is doomed.
>>23350 ur mom is doomed
It's a damn shame that development on every YouTube frontend has basically been halted.
>>23718 yt-local
>>23718 inv.nadeko.net's dev is trying pretty hard tho
>>23733 It literally works and as self-hosted solution too. I can access it from my phone web browser, connected to my home network internet. This is the only real alternative to Invidious.
>>23773 It doesn't proxy the connection that actually retrieves the video (even though the dev claims that probably isn't being tracked), and that is a no-go. No direct connections to Google, no exceptions.
>>23829 That's such a Dunning-Kruger response. > One of the primary features is that all requests are routed through Tor, except for the video file at googlevideo.com. This is analogous to what HookTube (defunct) and Invidious do, except that you do not have to trust a third-party to respect your privacy.
>>23933 >That's such a Dunning-Kruger response. How? >This is analogous to what HookTube (defunct) and Invidious do Wrong. Invidious requires videos to fully be proxied in order to use DASH, which is used by default. And if someone chose not to use DASH, they'd be stuck with a 360p video.
