My balancing act would have been to do something more like c#, in which you use normal C code in the same way you use unsafe rust, and the remaining 90% of the program that does not directly interact with the hardware can be done in a "safe" environment like Java or Python. Rust seems to me a bunch of tranny bullies that are ok in having to do contorsionist type shit as long as they get to bully new programmers into doing the same.
