https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I What do you bruddahs think of the Hawaiian succession movement? I'm a haolefag but I support all kinds of nationalism and I would gladly leave if in a magical fantasy world we could also get rid of all the illegals on the mainland.

Sounds interesting :^)

Could you tell me more about it?

Basically, there are some Native Hawaiians who want the US to GTFO because the islands have been illegally occupied by the US even since Queen Liliuokalani was forcefully overthrown. This is probably in all likelyhood never going to happen though because of the huge military presence there and because if the US got out the land would be prime pickins' for China or North Korea or whoever else wanted to invade because of its proximity to the mainland US.
Not to mention all of the dependence on Federal money from ol' Uncle Sam. If the US pulled out, it'd likely lower the standard of living and there would be less tourism from the states as well.

Would you support this guy's claim to the throne?
That's all some bullshit. Hawaii is cool and Hawaiian culture can be cool when it isn't all racist and isolationist, but lets not over-romanticize stone age cannibalism.
My old roommate lived in Hawaii since his dad was in the military. He said the nationalists are all stupid cunts.

>natives raid a museum in Honolulu

>go to stick one of the pretenders to the Hawaiian throne on the throne Queen Liliuokalani had on it
>can't find it
>give up and go home

This and they'll try to run white drivers off the road if you're driving on the highway with them

Actually, cannibalism might be something that develops in a culture over time, and not a remnant of prehistory.
Archeologists found neolithic skulls with holes at the top. Some scientists think that's because our ancestors were brain-eating cannibals, but others think it's because they carried the skulls of their ancestors around on a necklace.
So there's no agreement on whether cavemen were cannibals or not. (^:

As far as I've heard, there is no definite conclusion whether ritual cannibalism is a primitive thing or a direction a culture takes over time.
Fijians, for example, became cannibals due to a lack of red meat on their islands, but they kept their cannibal traditions even when the white man brought pigs to their island. :^)

But back on subject, I think it's very important that pacific islands don't isolate themselves from outside cultures.
It's this isolation that caused cultures filled with human sacrifice and cannibalism.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's important for cultures to keep their valuable traditions and their identity, but they should also be open to cultural exchange and international communication. :^)

Hawaiians actually traditionally loved new technologies. King Kamehameha the First conquered all the islands because of all the weapons he bought from the Europeans and he became a gun otaku. If Hawaii seceded from the US it wouldn't mean everyone would give up all their modern tech, although there are a few people living on one of the islands who do things just like in ye olde days and still work on plantations (I think Molokai but I'm not sure.)

>>492
The nationalists are pretty stupid but that's because modern Hawaiians in general are pretty low IQ. I can't blame them for being racists because I don't think multiculturalism is a good thing either.

Nah mane, those skull holes were for ancient medicine where they thought drilling the hole in your skull would let the bad spirits out, no joke

trepanation is a global phenomenon with some medical purpose. It's one of the oldest medical procedures around.
Honestly, I wouldn't support it. Not because I don't support Hawaiin independence in general, but because in today's political climate, it wouldn't be feasible. The reason the USA has Hawaii is because of it's strategic military importance. If Hawaii were an independent state, they'd have to focus a huge chunk of their resources into the military solely to defend against other countries trying to annex them.

those were different kind of holes i think :^)
smaller ones
like, they would make a tiny hole and then jam a stick into it and poke around, hoping that through blind luck the brain will be fixed.
>>524
If they became an independent state, they'd heavily rely on China, Japan, or the US for help anyway. Besides, where would they get their food from? Fishing? Edible fish supplies are rapidly dwindling, to the point where people are saying not to eat tuna because they're going extinct.
>>540
Before colonization they were able to feed everyone adequately and Captain Cook estimated there were probably about a million Hawaiians between all the islands iirc. Now there are only a few tens of thousands left, including everyone who's mixed-race. If they kicked all the non-Hawaiians out they'd probably be able to feed themselves, but it would be total chaos forcing everyone to leave their homes.
>>541
>Now there are only a few tens of thousands left, including everyone who's mixed-race.

That does kind of suck )^:

I don't want Hawaiians to go extinct

What can you do to prevent that?
Go full /pol/?
>>504 The island you're thinking of is Ni'ihau I think. Personally, I don't think secession is currently feasible due to the political climate. That and I'm not a fan of the idea of pure ethno-nationalism in Hawaii since I'm a hapa that was born and raised in Hawaii so that would mean I would be forced to leave and I don't want to leave my home.
