Ah, Captain! Still using the default board design? How... terrestrial. A blue gradient? Really? It’s like draping the Enterprise in a hospital scrubs backdrop. I do hope your fellow starship commanders aren’t judging you. Why, that empty space looks about as inspiring as a replicator menu in the Janus Prime cafeteria! A captain’s portal to the stars shouldn’t resemble a cardboard cutout of the cosmos. Here! Now your discussions on interstellar diplomacy can unfold against the literal final frontier. All you have to do as captain is just copy the text from the third file over to your board's CSS property and apply it. It's that easy! If you complain it’s ‘too flashy,’ remember: I could’ve made your homepage orbit a neutron star. Consider this a small... quantum nudge toward the sublime.

>>13 Custom CSS applied. Thanks for the assistance, Q!
>>15 How hard would it be to get a few different eras with some buttons to switch between them and maybe a cookie to remember which setting you're on?
>>17 Brother, when I said I was a newfag to this shit in the Meta thread on /v/, I meant it. So I'm not 100% certain, though I'm assuming only one custom CSS can be applied at a time. I'll look into it, though.

>>17 Such a feat isn't possible I'm afraid. To travel between different eras requires the captain to manually change the CSS theme himself and also holding on to them so that they can easily be swapped. Looking at this board now, a banner has yet to be uploaded. Allow me to throw some freebies in as a start so that we can move away from the default design and feel more at home. To keep the design consistent, the size of the banners should be 300x100.
>>19 Added. Thanks again for spoonfeeding me.
>>19 Have a blank version of an old /strek/ banner, and the old banner just because I had to actually crop this by hand because I didn't have a blank version but I did have a bigger one from when OG 8chan had 300x200 banner support, and the source image because laughing at Wil Wheaton is fun.

There is an option if you so desire a traveling of different eras, should you decide the cosmos is too boring for you. Just look at the theme file that is responsible for how your board looks and spend some time tweaking with it. Then once you've changed it enough for 1 era, make another unique theme file different from that one, and another another one! When you've got enough options to rotate between different eras, post those files & inform the main captain so they can simply put them in the locked introductory message here >>1 complete with previews so that your fellow star captains know what kind of trouble they'll be getting in for messing around with time and space. Tinkering around requires some bit of patience, skill in CSS, and time. You could always search around and see if anybody out there wants to assist you in polishing up your board's theme, but with how busy things have gotten they might just have their plates full.

>>21 Made some banners based off your template, not sure which one is best. TNG one fits with Wheaton, but is less legible. I'm leaning towards either of the latter ones.
>>22 Huh, I see. That's good to know, thanks again.
>>23 The 2nd is the best for being legible & retaining the aesthetics of the logo. Nothing wrong with being different from the freebies
>>25 I agree, and it has been added to the current banner line up. I'll make some more but if anyone else would like to post banners, they're more than welcome to. On another subject, I'm looking into the extra CSS designs, but, I'm actually going to be out of town in the coming days and probably unable to do serious work on the board. That's what I get for making a board on a whim. I'll keep an eye on the board, however.
>>37 Here's some pointers for those wanting to look into making extra CSS themes of different eras of Star Trek Most of your resources will be posted in >>>/res/ where you'll be linking your stuff from. Fonts go in >>>/res/3 Background images typical go in >>>/res/1 If you're good at HTML & JS, you can even post your audio in >>>/res/2 for when you want things like music or sounds. It is beyond my scope so I can't help in that department.
>>41 Ok, I think I can work with that. Wasn't sure if we're allowed to add HTML to the pages, because I've done something similar elsewhere but it needed some HTML/JS to reload the theme. I'll see if I can whip something up next week.

>>41 I will add that I've seen a board or two that changed the font and color of their board's name. So it should be fairly easy to make different eras of Star Trek. It's just all a matter of how much you really want them to be different. And if you'd like to add something on the bottom right corner, perhaps the various starships that their respective crew members flew in would add a nice touch and make it look like it's orbiting within the cosmos.
>>43 How does one utilize the fonts?
>>52 >How does one utilize the fonts? They must first be uploaded to >>>/res/3 so that they can be seen by everyone. Then, iirc, you use your element finder on your web browser oo the page that has the element yoh want to modify which in this case would be the board's title, and you then add a font value there with the direct link that sources to the font you uploaded. It will not look like >>>/res/2 but instead have a hash of letters and numbers like 'abcdefg12345678.ttf' (The hash is much longer than this) There's a certain way it has to be written so that they display correctly for everyone using the themes and so that you don't see it applied to everything beyond the board title. I don't have an example on hand as I can't access the CSS tool to demonstrate atm, but you should be able to understand it enough to get an idea of how to utilize fonts.
If you want to see a board with custom fonts, look at the css theme of >>>/funkg/
