Post your favorite ships. I like the Intrepid class, it's a cute little guy.

>>11 We'll see how it goes. Hopefully the bump in traffic will get a few more people here.

>>8 Never actually thought about it but the Intrepid is the first that comes to mind. It's between this and Romulan warbird, just due to how goofy it looks, it's a campy sort of comfy. >>12 >>11 Here's to the future!
>>14 Warbirds are neat, I always liked their green color schemes. Probably my favorite of the non-Federation ships.

Miranda class for me, probably exactly because it doesn't look at all cool, but that saucer just sitting there on top of those nacelles makes it look reliable for some reason. No pun intended.
>>28 It looks like it would be slightly more difficult to aim for the nachelles most times and be a huge advantage in combat. Most Starfleet vessels look like you could just ramming speed engage straight for those goofy legged nacelles and come out unscathed after decapitating the other ship. No wonder they lost the Klingon war without help.

Nothing beats the Bird of Prey. >>35 Starfleet ships aren't designed to be warships. Besides, after the shields go down any ship is basically fucked.

>>44 > Starfleet ships aren't designed to be warships Well, akshually, picrel. Anyway, there's just so many goofy elements to a regular Starfleet ship that an actual dedicated combat hull looks like a lame duckling in comparison.
>>50 The Defiant will always be the most badass Federation combat design. Compact, aggressive, yet still elegant. And the cloak, of course.
>>50 The defiant is a cool ship design but it's very much of a new breed, never tried before. I really like the look of it. It's spartan but comfy. Multi-vector thing was basically an experiment that you never see again outside of that joke episode of voyager. One has to wonder, why not just make three starships? So while that was a dedicated warship, it was clearly just an experiment that never went anywhere. Akira is cool, probably my favorite federation ship. Reminds me of the nx-01 which I also really liked the design of. I wasn't aware it was a dedicated warship though.
>>54 Dedicated Borg combat vessel. Useless in the grand scheme of things because they'd adapt anyway but NX-01 was much cool. Akira was like it's 5 headed nerd cousin.
For me it will always be the Enterprise-D.

I love my brick even though its design shits all over the concept of "nacelles need to be visible from the front", though I also like the Luna-class and Nebula-class.
>>11 It's pretty neat to have a Trek board again, takes me back to 420chan. Also I love the ball ships.
>>158 They got big "used ship salesman slaps the top while explaining how you can fit so many people in it" energy. Which, I guess, makes sense for a hospital ship like the Pasteur.
>>159 The seem like they would be a lot easier to navigate then giant saucers. No matter how many decks you make the saucers it's still going to be a whole lot of gently curved hallways to try and remember.
>>160 Navigation is most likely not that difficult due to the invention of the turbolift, an elevator capable of not just going up and down but left, right, forwards, backwards, and various diagonal angles.
>>161 I assume these things must have perfect magic inertial dampeners so you don't get completely nauseous while you're on your carnival ride. I also don't think we ever see the lights in the background move in any direction but up and down. I mean it's a minor thing, but it would have been a nice detail.
>>162 In TOS, most of the time, the people in the turbolifts act like they weren't even moving (cause they weren't, duh). I could have sworn TNG era turbolifts also move much faster considering how much larger 24th Century starships like the Galaxy-class are, so they definitely would need inertial dampeners at that point.
