PLUR1BUS Anonymous 12/10/2025 (Wed) 18:09:23 No. 1270
Greetings, fellow shitposters. Assuming there are anyone left on this board, I feel the need to reach out and bother you with my theories on this show. This is the only recent TV show I have watched and been really interested in. I liked Breaking Bad enough, and though Better Call Saul left me rather cold and I have not yet finished it, I was more than mildly interested to check out Vince Gilligan’s new show. I was vaguely aware of the colour theories in Breaking Bad, but in PLUR1BUS it is impossible to avoid it. Very beautiful use of colours throughout the show so far – light blues and yellow dominate, with notable uses of purple. In Breaking Bad the colour purple was associated with Marie Schrader. In this show I noticed Carol wearing a purple scarf when she visits the ice hotel with Helen; Helen calls attention to the aurora borealis turning purple as they are seated on the ice bed; at least one of the envelopes Carol uses to send her videos to the other survivors is purple. • The fact that the infected/joined/others cannot harm or kill anyone, even animals, means predators will learn not to fear humans and kill and eat them. This, along with their predicted feeding/resources crisis, makes me suspect the joined/others are nothing more than mindless tools who work to broadcast the signal on Earth. So, the signal is a virus that infects everyone on a planet and then compels them to build their own transmitter – larger than Africa – to broadcast the signal and cause the process to continue on another planet with another advanced civilisation. Scientists have warned against extraterrestrial signals and the potentially catastrophic consequences this could have. [1802.02180] Interstellar communication. IX. Perhaps it is what keeps them connected as a hivemind, not the mysterious liquid (HDP-infused nutrition) Carol speculated could be the cuplrit in episode 5, Got Milk? • In the third episode, Grenade, Zosia mentions that two of the other survivors are fond of cats. It seems unlikely this is just a random and unimportant throwaway line. >Cats typically purr at a frequency of 25 to 150 Hertz, with domestic cats generally purring around 20 to 30 vibrations per second. This frequency range is believed to have potential healing properties and can promote relaxation. https://www.wiredwhisker.com/blog/understanding-the-healing-power-of-cats-purring https://sciencesensei.com/why-your-cats-purr-is-literally-healing-you-the-frequency-that-repairs-bones/ The opening theme has a similar vibe, representing the extraterrestrial signal spreading. In the flashback in episode three, when Carol & Helen are staying in the Koi Suite at the ice hotel, Helen asks “You can almost hear it, can’t you?” as they watch the northern lights. I take this as a reference to the extraterrestrial signal having something to do with sound. • Everyone has already picked up on this, but in the third episode flashback, Carol mentions she has had her eggs frozen, and that these could, possibly, be used to get her stem cells if the joined/others use her frozen eggs and donor sperm to impregnate one of them (Zosia?). The upcoming episode, The Gap, comes out on 12 Dec, could refer to the gap in the extraterrestrial signal mentioned in the first episode when the scientists first discover it. It could also represent the gap Manousos has to cross in order to meet up with Carol. Good luck and godspeed.
