War Within was supposed to be the big showcase that the story could grow from the pains of the Afrasiabi and Danuser era. But so far all it's shown is to be suffering the same exact issues. Once again we're stuck with another girlboss female Elf archer who's pushing the main narrative forward. Once again we're stuck with another expansion with a lopsided Alliance - Horde character ratio where the Alliance cast are the only ones doing shit, or when it's the Horde characters time to shine, it's actually an Alliance character who convinces them to have their moment. It's another expansion where the face of Warcraft, Thrall has once again gotten his elemental dysfunction again. Another expansion where the villain immediately jobs on screen as soon as they're within 5 feet of the mandated Alliance self insert character for the writers. Another expansion where Horde doesn't even feel like Horde anymore and the Horde PC feels more of a neutral character than so called neutrals like Khadgar and Magni. And the worse thing is, we're stuck with Xal'atath until the next expansion after they already fucked her momentum as a villain with War Within's narrative just for the sake of yet another Alliance Elf girlboss moment. No proper change will happen until the likes of people like Anne Stickney are fired. And I'd take Danuser and Golden being Metzens support writers a thousand times over than the current writers Metzen bends the knee to like Danuser did. All we're left with is yet another toothless Alliance narrative with 0 stakes and this is likely to be the case all the way through WSS.

The only reason the Dire Maul patch was as good as it was was because old Blizz had been making that and they just put finishing touches on it.
