MST3k Turkey Day Marathon Anonymous 11/21/2020 (Sat) 06:06:49 Id: ae8d5e No. 158
Once upon a time, it was tradition to marathon Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Thanksgiving, and it became known as "The Turkey Day Marathon". After a brief absence, these marathons returned in the form of YouTube streams with segments filmed to fill in the gaps between episodes. These streams continue today, but primarily exist to promote the Netflix reboot. As such, I've run my own Turkey Days the past few years by queuing up a bunch of my favorite episodes to run in the background while I cook. This year, I'll be streaming it so everyone can join in. However, I need your suggestions. What are your favorite MST3k episodes? Make suggestions in this thread and have them streamed on Thanksgiving!
>>158 >Make suggestions I'm going to have to go back and binge watch to find the ones I liked. >but primarily exist to promote the Netflix reboot Just how bad was the netflix reboot? I was afraid to even look since almost everything netflix touches turns to ass cancer.
>>159 I never actually watched it, but Felicia Day replaced Dr. Forrester and Patton Oswalt became a stand-in for TV's Frank. Joel/Mike replacement was a nobody. I may have seen a trailer once that was both incredibly unfunny and very cringe. Apparently Netflix canceled it after two seasons. That's impressively bad for a series notoriously cheap to produce. Netflix should have made a tie-in deal for Rifftrax instead. I canceled Netflix, but I'd be willing to pay a few extra dollars a month to stream synchronized Rifftrax audio on top of movies. Of course, that relies on Netflix having the rights to something worth watching in the first place.
Oh didn't know you'd been doing it previously too, I'll come in on and off for it since will be busy on and off.
Meant to add suggestion. I'm a fan of the Gamera, Time of the Apes, Prince of Space, Fugitive Alien, stuff like that.

Not a MST3k movie but don't forget about Blood Freak.
>>158 Some of my favorites are Pumaman, The Final Sacrifice, Giant Spider Invasion, Werewolf, and Track of the Moonbeast.
I've got eight episodes queued up to run from around noon to midnight Eastern time. About half are from this thread, plus a couple of my favorites, and then some classic episodes which are generally well-liked, chosen specifically to round out the selection.

>>173 Nice, probably pass out to it later.

I only caught half of the films but that was really fun.

Thanks for the stream. I especially liked Prince from Space. Are you planning a christmas stream as well?
>>178 Maybe. There's a few MST3k Christmas episodes, plus a few more Rifftrax ones including some live shows, although some of those are duplicates. Pretty sure they did Santa Claus vs. The Martians like three times. I was also considering a Rankin-Bass marathon. I'm open to suggestions. What would you like to see?

>>179 Jack Frost and The Day the Earth Froze are great Christmas episodes.

I'm going to try to do some MST3k episodes for Christmas tomorrow, so as not to conflict with the movie night falling on Christmas.
