Terapagos requires you to find two chests for key pieces, you take them to a ghost woman at night to combine them, then you take it to another chest. The chests require passwords. Calyrex requires you to beat the Rastaban runs (the gauntlets in the desert you do as part of the story) in a specific order without healing the entire time. If you need me to tell you the exact locations, passwords, etc. I can dig shit up

Another consideration for sidequests is discoverability, which should happen naturally for players who pay minimal attention to the game world. Backtracking should be minimal. For example, Reborn has an issue that you should scour the game world over and over after every boss fight to avoid missing out on stuff, especially character points, and I don't think even doing it after every boss is enough to collect everything.
