So the general theme is that someone over at GF is coming up with some interesting ideas and they just get denied or made more silly. Fantastic :^)
But also, these leaks also might show what the games could be if the team had more time.
>>A song sung during their passing (referring to the wolves), implies that Slumbering Weald's theme canonically plays in-universe and the howling that is heard both during that song as well as the final phase of Eternatus' fight is Zamazenta and Zacian howling the song they heard in their deathbed
That's pretty cool, I enjoy pieces of lore like this, especially when it ties into something more than just the text on screen, like the music in this case. It's a bit morbid, but not enough that it makes things feel out of place in an otherwise cheery game, nor is it too edgy. It's just enough to make you think about that the legendries went through in order to protect their home and how sad the humans were to lose them. It's like adding a bit of lemon juice to an apple desert for that tiny bit of tartness, which ends up making the sweetness even better. It also makes the concept of the legendaries reviving a little more interesting. Instead of just having them come back as if they had never left, they return but are clearly affected by their time away. In this case, they would be half-dead (without being gory or anything of course), almost like phantoms, powerful like they were in life, but also clearly ethereal
>>Your father was originally meant to be the champion, he fucked off to some bizarre place that seems like a dream with a copy of your house in the center of it
This would have added a lot more substance to the game and would have made a lot of sense given how the player carries around his/her father's bag through the entire journey by default. A bag is a very personal item and it is almost expected that video game that features a bag owned by a significant character has some sort of lore or quest attached to it. Imagine if GF set up the game how they did in the final release, mentioning that the bag is the father's, but still leading everyone on so they think it's the usual absent father situation that is expected from Pokemon. Then when things get dire story wise, things start happening, and the bag the player has been using all this time actually comes into play, leading him to the father and this odd dimensional plane, which also sets into motion events that would lead him to come back and act as a champion. The whole situations seems like it would fit in an anime too, which Japanese writers should be inspired by.

The writers also would not have been able to resist adding all sorts of dialogue and story about how masculinity and femininity are supposedly fluid, too. Or more likely, they would be pushed by outside forces or consultants to write about such things. Which would have been worse than the terrible jokes made by fans.

>>(Paldeia had this weird thing of only requiring 4 gyms to beat the game, with Jacq being one of the few obligatory ones)
If the team really wanted to go for an open world pokemon game, this does make sense. It gives the player even more options when it comes to exploring the region and building their own story. You could choose to wander the desert, for example, looking for a Titan pokemon. Along the way, you come across an oasis, and decide to take on the gym there on a whim. The obligatory gyms provide essential information about the main plot and act as catalysts to move the plot forward. Maybe 6 gyms would be better, with three required ones and three of the player's choice. And the gyms the player didnt challenge could influence who the player battles in the Pokemon League, either in the Elite Four or in the battles leading up to them. This would have made Paldea so much more interesting. Maybe technological constraints held the team back. They would have had to have gym leader teams automatically level in order to match the levels of the player's pokemon to make sure things were challenging no matter what order the player did things in.
>Never forget that Gamefreak rejected these beautiful lads from gen 6, it's impressive what does and doesn't get approved there.
That flamingo one is ten times better than Flamigo. Was marketability a concern, even though the design here is appealing? After all, plushies make them a ton of money.
