This game is held back by it's creators insistence on abiding by a ruleset they broke in the first minute. Their obsession with making a pokemon fangame "that could be an official game" is an excuse to ignore the easily fixable parts of this game that cause the player unnecessary annoyance and frustration. not putting in speed-up is one thing, designing sections that are full of backtracking and trial and error that beg for speed-up is another. speed-up is like having access to the dev console in skyrim; you get completely stuck in some random part of the wall? that's kinda funny, let me just noclip out and keep going. oh this pokemon section kind of sucks or I gotta backtrack? oh well, let me speed-up. If they made areas that weren't like that, something I think zirconium did very well, this wouldn't be an issue. But holy shit is the game full of shit like that. The entire game is as slow as gen 4, and there are numerous times where the objective is "you're stuck, wander aimlessly in this cave with a high encounter rate and just pray you find the fucking exit." Not to mention the longer gym puzzles, the long routes, the game bugging out and making me bike across the fucking entire region because fly just didn't want to work just yet.
You want to use HMs, that's fine, but even game freak has moved on to shit like poke riders. But no, you gotta pretty much have every HM on you at all times until you reach the league building, and there's one move deleter in the whole game anyway. The dev says that they don't want to add new features based on "speculation" of what game freak "could" do in the future, as that would be a stretch, but he also gave all pokemon two active abilities from the get go, which as far as I know hasn't happened yet. I also am not sure game freak would include anything about nuclear energy or power, or have you straight up fight the sun in space. Not sure, could be a stretch.
Oh and the gameplay is not good. Evasion/accuracyshit, lots of trainers with 3 or 4 of the same mon, light is a shitty fake type, etc. I think even if you caught 5 pokemon on route 1 and never changed them out the entire game you would still have to grind. And I don't know where you would grind, there's an exp drought. If you want the basic exp share, you need to find 25 of the shard collectible. That's at least past the third gym, I just don't know what the fuck the dev expects you to do, wild pokemon don't give out shit, there are only so many trainers, it's baffling. You could convince me the dev never playtested the game. I'm putting this only right above OWD, it's within spitting distance.
