IMO Gyarados, Kangaskhan and the Latis are the worst mega designs. Gyarados: looks like a caterpillar Kangaskhan: the same as before but the baby is outside Latis: two mons with the same evo, somehow messing up the airplane design of the original mons
>>7408 >Kangaskhan: the same as before but the baby is outside I'll never understand the hate for Mega Kangaskhan. It's an overprotective mother who gives the Mega stone to it's baby and it's baby Mega evolves. It is one of the best Megas for actually building off the Pokemon's lore.
>>7504 Mega Kangaskhan's design can really be a hit or miss depending on the person, I wouldn't say it is inherently flawed or thoughtless. Many people are just used to seeing megas achieve some really noticeable change to their physical features, sometimes even changing color entirely. So when the only thing different between regular and mega Kangaskhan is the baby being out of the pouch and looking a more like its mother, many people might have felt let down. Getting to see that little guy finally emerge from this mother's pouch for the first time since Pokemon Red and Blue is meant to be just as exciting as seeing Charizard's flames turning blue or Ampharos getting its long white hair back. Not only that, but the whole mega evolution animation where the baby lifts his hand up to ask for assistance with being turned around, then they pose together, certainly has some thought put into it and was likely meant to really get a good reaction out of players. The Parental Bond ability is also pretty cool, though it got nerfed pretty hard in Gen VII. >It is one of the best Megas for actually building off the Pokemon's lore. A bunch of the megas have great lore, though Mega Kangaskhan's is the most touching in a way. Like the Pokemon Ultra Moon pokedex entry: <When the mother sees the back of her Mega-Evolved child, it makes her think of the day when her child will inevitably leave her. Also, it's interesting to note that the Mega Stone is not what gives the child the ability to come out of the pouch, as trainers have seen the baby playing outside of the pouch in the wild. The stone gives the baby extra power so that it can battle while it is still young.
Thoughts on Mega Dragonite.
>>14719 It has a pretty good design. I like how it incorporates aspects of its previous evolutionary stages, like the feathered head wings and the orb on the much longer tail. They did this while also keeping Dragonite’s overall theming consistent; He’s still a powerful yet jolly looking pseudo-legendary, without needing lots of spikes and a sneering mouth to show that power. Would have been nice to have a little more detail, though. A few more orbs along the tail? Its horn looks more like Dragonair’s now, but maybe it should have been a little longer? I have a feeling there will be some lore regarding how its antennae turned into those big wings.
>>14719 I think it looks like a lame fanmade design. You can definitely tell this shite was made by some spiteful Dragonair fag. It wasn't even done well sadly, the antennae being turned into wings looks so tacky despite the intent behind it being good. I'm pretty sure the tail orb mixed with the wings looks exactly like on popular fanmade design for Mega Dragonite too, they only removed the weird majestic cape.
>>14719 As a Dragonite fan and not a Dragonair fan, I don't like it.
Thoughts on Mega Victreebel?

>>17105 Saw this at the start of the trailer and got too scared to watch it. Overall, I kind of like it. At first glance, for a second I thought it was a joke. But after seeing the trailer and the official page about it, I understand the intention behind the design. I know there are a lot of fans that think of aggressive, sharp-clawed beasts when they think of Mega Evolution, such as the Mega Charizards, Mega Aggron, etc. But recently Gamefreak is showing that Mega pokemon can be powerful without looking that way. Mega Dragonite is an example of a jovial pokemon becoming more powerful without getting all angry looking and keeping its graceful appearance. Mega Victreebel shows that a Mega pokemon can look bouncy and jiggly but can also be dangerously powerful. What ability will it have?
>>17112 >>17112 >But recently Gamefreak is showing that Mega pokemon can be powerful without looking that way. Like Mega Audino, Diancie, Ampharos >>7312 , and Absol? >>7210 Mega Gardevoir especially doesn't look remotely ferocious at all unless you want to interpret it as a bridezilla and that's a massive reach. ?
Mega Hawlucha has been revealed: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=RYCOc3SiU7A
Thoughts on Mega Hawlucha? I think this is my favorite of the new megas so far.
Since this leak is pretty much 100% confirmed, which Mega are you looking forward to?
>>17831 Same here. I am a sucker for megas that are overtly designed to be "cool" by adding more spikes and shit.
>>17838 Here is anther artist's take on the leked Mega descriptions. They seem to be teasing Mega Malamar next.
Thoughts on Mega Malamar?
>>19238 Might be the best design out of the new megas so far.
The Nintendo Direct happening right now just revealed Megas for all the Kalos Starters and Mega Raichu X and Y .
>locked behind dlc and an online subscription Thanks Game Freak. Also imagine announcing a $30 dlc before the shotty game is even out. Remember when Legends Arceus was just a $60 game with no overpriced DLC or forced online?
>>19560 Given how Pokemon is a media titan, it's not surprising how frustration about Mega Pokemon being locked behind paid online and a paid DLC seems to be somewhat suppressed online, unless I'm not looking in the right places. It's a very reasonable thing to feel negative about. The Mega forms are finished, complete, and won't take any extra work beyond the release date for the team, which means they have not earned any extra pay beyond the $70 Switch2 price tag. Gamefreak doesn't even specify when the stones will be available to those who do play online. It says Greninja's stone is available starting October 16th, which is launch day. But it doesn't say how long each season lasts. Will it take a month to be able to use Mega Delphox? Then another month to use Mega Chesnaut? There's no way that a season will only last one or two weeks. This is simply a way to make sure player numbers stay high for several months after release, which makes Nintendo look good to investors. They'll lure players bored or finished with Z-A back to get that mega stone. The player might not even be guaranteed to get the stone, even. https://archive.ph/bo9cI >"Mega Stones for Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja can only be obtained as rewards for being promoted up the ranks." This implies you have to move up ranks to get these items. >"Greninjite, Delphoxite, and Chesnaughtite stones cannot normally be obtained during regular gameplay." >"Mega Stones obtainable as promotion rewards are planned to be redistributed in future seasons." >in future seasons. So even in the future, it seems like the mega stones wont be released freely to players as, say, a mystery gift. They will be rewards again for future seasons of the Battle Club. It would be scummy but they could decide to release the stones to all players for Christmas or in January 2026 or something, but this doesn't seem to be the plan. >announcing a $30 dlc before the shotty game is even out The fact that they have something to announce means the DLC is probably complete or almost complete. Again, which means it should just be in the game in the first place. They even include Mega Raichu as the poster child, a form that makes it look like Pikachu and is thus even more potentially tempting for the average player. If all of this happened 10 or so years ago there would have been outrage.
