Someone please explain to me how you're supposed to find a good platformer these days. It's all become this misbegotten indie shit that pretends to be retro but fucking sucks. There's none of the fun of the old Prince of Persia games, the Donkey Kongs, even shit like Jazz Jackrabbit. Just lazy-ass design. What happened, anons? Why is everything so shit?

When they were more popular and there was higher demand for them the developers making them (which at that point may have actually given a shit about more than just scamming their audience out of money) were actually trying to innovate the genre, and since platformers have pretty much died along with there being very little left to innovate, the only developers left making them are shitty indie devs who just make them because they don't have the resources or the talent to make something better.
