Based on the posting activity between both sites during yesterday's stream, I think the most active /haha/ posters (at least during NA hours) have moved over here. It does seem like some genuine 'goons want to stay over there, though.
The argument you had yesterday just further solidifies, in my mind, how helpful IDs are in situations like this: when arguments like that break out in the thread, you can never tell how many people are involved, and if they are actually thread regulars or just tourists. I wasn't even sure if there were any actual 'goons involved in that argument, or if it was all just a single schizo arguing with himself to try and paint some kind of narrative. (Some of those posts do make me think a schizo was posting at the time, and probably the one calling you an anti) Not only that, the topic of discussion is: Are all of us are going to permanently move to 8chan, or is the thread going to be split? So knowing how many people want to move, and how many want to stay, is relevant information that we can't estimate at all without IDs.
As for why those 'goons want to stay: If they're more casual users of the thread / board (maybe they only check the thread once a week or every other day) it's possible they usually miss the times when those suspiciously aggressive arguments pop up. Or maybe they just don't care. But I'm tired of having the schizos randomly show up in the thread and elsewhere on the board, and having no way of just filtering them out.
As for the bait thread, that is obviously a lot of samefagging. Probably 90% of the posts. (Real posts (even retarded shitposts) aren't that inane, and will usually at least introduce some other perspective or topics, or humor into a conversation.) I would have thought that the mods and janitors would be on their best behavior during this time, because they just had a big public failure with the hack, some portion of their userbase has now been introduced to competing alternatives like 8chan and holotower, and new mods need to show that they're competent. Update: It looks like that thread has been taken down now. But even if the moderation improves over there, I'm not sure I trust a mercenary team from India to moderate a Western English speaking weeb board. The mods here seem to be more native to western weebdom.
Another thing to keep in mind is that this is the schizos' hobby: It probably keeps their mind off how badly their life is going, and so from that perspective it's a pain-killing drug for them, and they're addicted to it. IDs and/or moderation will significantly cut back on that drug. So there's probably been some anxiety in them about their targets leaving, and I think that they're a lot more likely to show up now and in the next week or two when people are deciding if they're going to leave 4chan or not.
The only thing that kind of sucks in my mind about leaving is that since 4chan is more well known, potential newgoons are more likely to look for threads like /haha/ there. We might want to consider just keeping it bumped there just as an advertisement for here. But on the other hand, this thread is pretty niche. From the 2024 birthday card, I estimated there's only about 20 regulars in the thread, and I don't know how often people come and go. So it might just be better to let it die off for a year or so (assuming the goons who want to stay don't keep it bumped, or change their minds) and let the schizo forget about us.
