I feel like there is a definite issue of entitlement with a lot of artists in the vtubing sphere. Not all of them obviously, there are a lot of really lovely and professional people out there who are great to work with, but some of them really do treat clients in a way that just wouldn't fly in any other field. I've done a lot of contract work myself and never in a million years would treat clients this way. I get that a lot of them probably just want to draw and don't like having to deal with the business aspects of this stuff, but it's part of the job.
Also just from a purely pragmatic point of view taking payment in full up front and then delivering nothing until after the Paypal dispute window closes is sketchy as hell, any client would be right to be wary in that kind of situation since they're liable to get screwed themselves if they continue waiting around.
