Her life's collapsing. Her dad and "aunt" (stepmom) divorced, so she has had to be a psychological crutch for him. Her job, which used to only require 8 hours of her sitting around and not doing much, now requires 10-12 hours some days. Her wallet is drying out because she spent so much on things she didn't need. She doesn't have a better job and can't pursue one in Poland due to the EU's lack of a uniform education system, given how she's as qualified as a high school graduate in Ireland but not in Poland because her mother kicked her out the moment she turned 18, keeping her from graduating high school. Thus, she's going to a continuation school to obtain the equivalent to a GED in Poland, a struggle in itself because the EU doesn't have proper infrastructure for translations of official documents, meaning she had to translate the documents sent by her Irish middle school into Polish before sending them to Polish bureaucrats.
The thing is, her education while getting her GED will teach her basically nothing because even the bureaucrat she spoke to told her that the school she'll attend is laughably easy. While she has made some money through donations and experienced a decent amount of growth, these issues have caused her to stagnate to the point that she doesn't think she'll ever make it big like she hoped to. Compounding this are how she only recently gained YouTube memberships after months of applying, her feeling pidgeonholed into the horror and cryptid-focused character of Kara Wilderwood because she's autistic about kayfabe but also liked spontaneous things like the Uma RP stream and singing a lot, the constant pressure of having to take care of her father, and the exhaustion of work keeping her from having the energy to stream. Without solid ties to other VTubers and an established safety net to family or a job like most VTubers in Western Europe, she has reached the "sink" part of "sink or swim".
She plans on transitioning to being primarily a V-Singer as a different Kara and possibly living with a friend in a similar situation until things stabilize and she has completed her education. Everything about Kara Wilderwood will be kept up in order to archive it and let her go back at any time. This transition will be in a few months, but she said it's a 50/50 chance that indefinite hiatus turns into retirement, depending on how some things go very soon. She has said that during this time, we'll see the "real" Kara, the person behind the character, as she'll just do what she wants. It's really sad, since Kara has gone through multiple iterations and has frequently talked about how she
wants to be married and have kids by 30, which is only 4 years away.
