I've been getting recommended a lot of videos analyzing gen alpha lately and it's really much worse than I imagined. Something I never considered is these kids don't have Disney kids shows anymore, for example, because nobody has cable tv. There's no Corey In The House, That's So Raven, iCarly, etc. They watch Netflix, Youtube, and TikTok and scroll twitter. All the lessons those types of shows would address aren't really as easily replaced in content on those platforms, in most cases it makes the situation worse. What would you even watch on Netflix that's even close? I asked my friend and he said his daughter is really obsessed with Kpop Demon Slayers but she's also very young still. The kids of today are masquerading as adults, on platforms for adults, and are probably a big reason everyone is so fucking stupid.
I got recommended some video talking about why young girls are dressing more adult than kids our age used to. The content they consume is for adults, so they dress adult and have adult hobbies.
I'm also aware of where this conversation goes with the whole age verification shit.
There's also issues with kids being unable to read and relying heavily on AI to do their work. Making the argument that it's like the calculator. I'm personally not very optimistic about the future.
