There's been several supposed sightings of megasloths in the Appalachian mountains in the USA. Overgrown sloths closer to a certain prehistoric species. There's even a famous greentext story about an anon encountering one. I think they might just be some kind of mountain bear or hybrid bear we haven't identified yet, though, with some similarities to sloths. Now that I think about it, the Sloth Bear exists, so maybe it's a distant cousin of that.
